Absolute gem if you're into wine! One of my friends brought here and befriended the bartender a while ago and she definitely knew so much about wine. I learned so much about the different regions and even discovered a Chardonnay that blew my mind. They don't serve orange wine FYI. I just love this place and my friend blew my mind once we went downstairs. It's connected to a cocktail bar (Experimental Social Club) so you can have your wine and then move downstairs for a swanky cocktail club vibe! Have been here twice now and it's such a lovely and beautiful space! Definitely recommend getting a reservation as it gets quite busy but is not loud inside at all. We split a bottle of a chardonnay which was so delicious and for food got the chicken sandwiches which are a must get, the baby gem salad which was also incredible and the zucca pasta which was delicious but could have been a bit warmer. So love a good wine bar. Especially when the servers are sommeliers and feature great wines. We happened to stop in on a rosé night. The bars showcased pink decorations in honor of the night. Been here twice and loved it both times. The first time I came, I sat by the bar, and the attendant was very kind and helpful with picking a glass. The second time, sat at the table and had similar experiences with the attendant helping me pick. During happy hour, all wines by the glass are five dollars off. The snack plate is $10 off, $25 instead of $35. Definitely worth getting the snack plate as there is a variety and is perfect for "girls dinner". A friend and I decided to do Friday night drinks here after a long week of work. We made a reservation for the bar and were seated right away when we arrived. We decided just to do drinks since it was on the later side, but their food menu also had some great looking items I'd like to try next time. Wine menu is sizeable with a lot of interesting options for any palate. They also have a few non-alcoholic options. I was feeling adventurous so tried a Slovakian red for my first glass and the Cinsault for my second. I really enjoyed both and found them to be easy drinking wines while I was catching up with my friend. Ambiance is nice. It's a long/thin restaurant with a huge bar and a few tables along the side. It was lively inside, but not overwhelmingly so that i couldn't enjoy the conversation. Service was excellent. Our bartender was friendly, attentive, and super knowledgeable. He let me try a few wines and gave me his opinion and tasting notes on each, which helped me chose my adventure for the night. Overall - well worth the visit to La Compagnie if you're in the area. So happy La Compagnie has made its way to the Flatiron! Right across from Madison Square Park, it's a perfect place to grab a glass or two of vino. Was sad when the old location on Lafayette closed, but happy they are here now! Sounds like they'll be coming up on their 1 year anniversary at this location soon, yay! Fantastic wines, relaxing ambience and friendly, knowledgeable staff. Great small bite options too - loved their frites and cheese selection. We were super excited to see this bar in the 'hood, after trying too many times to guess the mystery wine at the Soho location. We ended up here on a Saturday night after failing to get a table for dinner at several other local spots. While all of the tables were full, we were happy to see there were still plenty of seats at the bar. The bar is definitely the centerpiece of the beautiful glowing room. And the great sound system, playlist and acoustics are also noteworthy. Gorgeous stemware. Attentive service. These are all the positives... On to the negatives. Did anyone bother to sit on the barstools when designing this restaurant? They are too short for the bar! Maybe fine for drinking, but trying to eat dinner here was comically uncomfortable. Why is the mystery wine always so insipid? Be fair and give us something to work with. Served overly chilled with almost no nose to speak of, the game is rigged and we're suckers for playing. The food really missed the mark. Dish after dish was a letdown. The best of the bunch was the chicken sliders. The fried chicken itself was satisfyingly crunchy, and the creamy slaw was a nice counterpoint, but the gougere "bun" fell apart instantly and the whole thing got very messy. Give me a Martins potato roll any day of the week. The salad looked better than it tasted. Overly tart, and not much else. Were the peas supposed to provide the sweetness? They were mealy. The breadcrumbs were nice and crunchy but lacked salt. I was bored after a few fork-fulls. Same deal with the carrots. Even the bacon jam, or whatever it was, couldn't add interest to this dish. Finally, the biggest letdown was the pasta with yuzu. Overpowering citrus, totally one note, a waste of some beautifully cooked pasta. We actually left most of this dish on the plate. Moral of the story? Don't eat at the bar unless you want to feel four feet tall. In fact, don't eat at all, unless maybe something simple like cheese or sausage? And don't fall for the mystery wine! read more

Ok first of all, the days and hours need to be updated. They are open all 7 days. I was so excited for this to come in my neighborhood, been a big fan of the La Compagnie in soho for years. I really really wanted to love this spot and for it to become my go-to spot in the neighborhood. However, I still think they have a few kinks to workout - like it feels so much more pretentious than the soho one. It's a wine bar for gods sake, not some 10 michelin star restaurant where you have to check in and provide your phone number to grab a seat at the bar. What a nifty little place this is! With a cozy, warm space and a well-situated bar that is perfectly comfortable to sit at, not to mention a well-curated wine by the glass list, La Compagnie is just right for after-work libations with a friend or two. I wouldn't say it's ideal for big groups (might ruin the intimate ambiance), though I didn't venture too deep into the dining area in the back. I loved the Montepulciano by the glass which is light and slightly chilled. While there isn't much in the way of vegan food, my friend and I split the well-seasoned and irresistibly crunchy marcona almonds. The best part of this was the fact that we got in at 6:30 and their happy hour goes until 7. Our bartender was so nice that he allowed my friend her glass at the $5 off for HH pricing even though she arrived 10 minutes after it ended. In my experience, places have a strict cut-off so that was so appreciated and they have a forever customer in me. I will definitely be back as the location is excellent and convenient to Penn Station, Union Square and Flatiron. read more

We snacked on the Gordal Olive Dip with Charcoal Crackers and shared a small cheese & charcuterie board. Both were delicious. I am still thinking of a way to make the gordal olive dip at home - it was that good!!!! The charcuterie was perfect for 2 people & we really enjoyed it over wine. I must have walked into a twilights zone around 11pm last night the second I set foot in here, on 24th street in NYC. I got hit hard by their door on the way in. Walked in holding my head in a daze about to pass out. I was instantly body blocked by a waitress named Rachel who kept saying, "we don't have anything here!" I explained to her that I was meeting my husband who was seated at the back waiting for me. She cut me off and said, I said we have no one here!" By now my head had a big visible bump. I just walked past her, barely getting through because she was still determined to prevent me from getting in. I joined my equally shocked husband at the back at the bar. I asked the bartender for some ice for my head. I sat there for at least at hour and none of the staff members bothered to come by to see how I was doing and not even an apology from Rachel, none! I was dressed to the nines having just arrived from an event. It's not like i was being mistaken for a homeless person breaking in. Even if so, no compassion was given! The bartender never asked how I was doing either nor offered any comforting words while serving my husband his food and wine throughout the night. I've never seen a place full of cold hearted individuals in a line of hospitality work. I've never felt so humiliated and unseen in my life. And to think it would be my very first time there! I would hate to see how they would treat a choking customer and God forbid you're a black one at that. Good luck! read more

I love the downtown location of this car, but am not crazy about this one. The bar seating is really obtrusive: the bar is quite high and the high chairs are really heavy and it's just all too big, heavy, clunky and...unwelcoming and uncomfortable. The wine is on par with the other location, and they seem to have invested in nice stemware, but it's not quite as nice as the other location (the stemware at the other location is actually a draw for us!). And the food is similar, but a little different. The portions seemed smaller, but it's hard to say. The service was fine, but there was some sort of tasting going on when we went and so the service seemed preoccupied with that. I'm really glad there is a nice wine bar in the neighborhood that has natural wines! But I wish it had some outdoor seating, or more comfortable and accessible indoor seating. And it's really dark inside, but not in the way that creates a mood. Lastly, they have quite limited hours (T-Sat, 5-?). I think if you are in the area and looking for a glass of natural wine and don't mind being shrouded in a dark, uncomfy cave, it works (but only T-Sat eves after 5). I do like the NA options on the menu. It's kust not an appealing physical space. If you are in the area, you may as well go to Eataly (for wine)...or go for cocktails instead: the neighborhood is riddled with craft cocktail bars, but it's not a wine bar destination. read more
