Absolutely delicious bagels and cream cheese. We tried the chicken Alfredo stuffed bagel and it was amazing!

When we go to the beach, we typically frequent seafood restaurants. Over the 4th of July weekend…read morerestaurants are so busy that we decided to diverge from the norm and try something different. We are so glad we did. So much so that we returned again before the end of our trip. The restaurant was quaint and service was very good, especially our first visit. Our top recommendation would be the lasagna which was the best I've ever had and so large that it easily feeds 2 people! The mushroom brochette and veal piccata were also delicious. Wine was excellent and so was the bread. We will be back.

The bread was very good and is probably top 5 as far as restaurants I have visited that offer complimentary bread. Insalata Mista - Good, nothing special or that sets it apart from other salad. The house dressing was good, leans more on the sweet side. Lasagna - The biggest portion of lasagna I have ever seen and ever received at a restaurant. The waitress said they call it the "Birthday Cake." Once it arrived at the table we understood why, it was almost the side of a birthday cake. The flavor was really good as well. It had a good amount of meat and cheese. It was not a lasagna that was made up of just noodle. Definitely worth ordering. If you're on a date or out with a friend, you could probably split the lasagna. Especially, if you order a salad , soup or appetizer. Spaghetti - It was good, nothing great but not bad either. If you like spaghetti & meatballs this will do the trick however, it won't blow your skirt up but you won't be upset either. Veal Piccata - Very good, I would order this if I went back. The veal cutlet was tender and contained crispy edges. The sauce was very good as well. The capers, lemon and wine were very well proportioned. Grilled Salmon - My Mother-in- Law ordered this and shared the following thoughts. Salmon was good however, the white bean salad that accompanied it was better. 7.5-8 out of 10 as far as the whole dish goes. Torta Savoia - Probably the worst thing we ordered. We all wanted chocolate, specifically chocolate cake. This really underwhelmed and did not satisfy the craving. The mood was a little gummy and didn't have that great of a mouth fill. Sometimes when mousse isn't made completely the correct way, gelatin will be used and occasionally overused. The cake itself wasn't that moist and the taste of chocolate really didn't hit you like it should have. Service - Our waitress was named Corrina. She was really sweet and very informative. Corrina was honest about the menu and suggestions. She was also very observant.

Bella Italia was not what I expected…read more And that turned out to be a very good thing. From the outside and inside, this is a bit of a hole in the wall. The kind of restaurant that is clearly filled with regulars who know exactly what they're ordering and probably don't need to look at the menu anymore. That can sometimes make a newcomer feel like they've accidentally wandered into somebody else's family dinner. Not here. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and we were made to feel right at home. I ordered the lasagna expecting the usual Italian classic. Layers of pasta, ricotta, mozzarella, and all the familiar ingredients I've come to expect. Instead, I was presented with a lasagna featuring a beautiful, creamy béchamel sauce. Béchamel. In my lasagna. That's the kind of sauce I expect to encounter in French cooking, not while I'm sitting in a little Italian restaurant in Mobile. But I'm very happy to report that Italy and France have apparently decided to put their differences aside. It was wonderful. Creamy, rich, and absolutely delicious. Not what I expected, but exactly the kind of surprise that makes discovering new restaurants so much fun. Bella Italia is a nice find. A little bit of a hole in the wall, filled with regulars, friendly people, and food that may surprise you in the best possible way.

The restaurant was almost empty when we arrived, so we were seated immediately. The dining room has a basic, no-frills atmosphere, while the soft background music created a pleasant setting for dinner. Our waitress was friendly, attentive, and offered helpful recommendations throughout the meal. Each entrée comes with complimentary garlic bread and a side salad. The salad was fresh but basic, and the garlic bread was warm but fairly average. They were a nice addition to the meal, even if they weren't particularly memorable. Every entrée arrived piping hot, which is exactly what you hope for with Italian food. My wife ordered the Cheese Manicotti, substituting Alfredo sauce for the traditional marinara. The ricotta and parmesan filling was rich and creamy, and the Alfredo sauce paired well with the pasta. She thoroughly enjoyed her meal. My coworker and I both ordered the Spaghetti with Meatballs, adding meat sauce for even more flavor. The meatballs were tender and generously sized, the spaghetti was cooked perfectly, and the combination of homemade marinara, meat sauce, and parmesan created a hearty, satisfying plate. The portions were generous, and the entrées were easily the stars of the evening. Pros * Immediate seating * Friendly, helpful service * Complimentary salad and garlic bread with every entrée * Entrées served piping hot * Generous portions * Flavorful pasta and meatballs * Good value Cons * Basic ambiance * Salad and garlic bread were average Bella Italia isn't trying to be a trendy, upscale Italian restaurant. Instead, it focuses on serving hot, comforting Italian classics with generous portions and friendly service. The appetizers may be simple, but the entrées deliver where it matters most. If you're looking for a dependable Italian meal in Mobile, Bella Italia is a solid choice.
