Our waitress was also the bartender and she did a good job throughout our visit. We started with mozzarella sticks with a marinara dipping sauce. Very crispy and gooey cheese and tasty. The house rolls also came at this time, fresh out of the oven. Next we ordered pasta ala carte I had the Tagliatelle with bolognese sauce and added a side of meat balls. One of the best pastas and service I've had. I was skeptical when I saw a lot of the menu emphasized how everything is made in house and I can attest it's true. From the fresh rolls they brought out, Cesar salad dressing, pasta. All freshly made The Cesar salad could have used a bit more anchovy but overall solid The rolls were so good! If I didn't already have a salad and one roll I definitely would've asked for more. I had the rigatoni with the red/white sauce mixture and oh my it was phenomenal I was really sad I was just visiting because the leftovers I would've had immediately. Stevie is a GEM!!! I have a severe gluten allergy and he was so aware of everything. They made sure to change their gloves, clean their surfaces, and I am a very symptomatic celiac, and I walked out of there very full and happy with no issues. I did bring my own gluten-free pasta. They had gluten-free pasta there, but it was zucchini noodles at that time and I did not want that. I wanted all the carbs so I brought my own. They boiled it for me in a fresh pot of water and I also brought my own gluten-free bread and they toasted it for me creating the best bruschetta as well as the best spinach and artichoke dip!!! As far as the service, upon asking for a tray for first-timers to see the different types of pasta, the server, Paige, said there was no tray available. When I asked how much the beer was that was listed on my receipt which did not itemized the order, she sharply told me that there is a new system and I could go look on the computer and see for myself what costs they all are. When we were paying our tickets, Paige brought ONE pen for us all to share. We would have asked her for more but she vanished as usual. Disclaimer: I can make good Italian dishes at home so keep that in perspective as you read this. The good: atmosphere. A great mix of elegant but not stuffy and uptight. Service was decent, we had a party of 10 and she did a good job. The serving sizes were generous. The Meh: Bruschetta was served with diced tomato mixture on top of panini bread but was missing a fair ratio of mozzarella. My son's chicken piccata was creamy and had enough lemon flavor for a nice tang. Chicken was cooked well. My daughter had pesto with wide noodles. The sauce was creamy and good. The Blah: basic lasagna with spinach layer near bottom. Basic, like homemade. The Yuck: eggplant parmigiana. Eggplant was bitter (forgot to soak? Bad eggplant? The slices were small so maybe not ripe?) the angel hair and marinara was bland. All our plates were cold. Cesear salad tasted like water lettuce. Dressing had zero flavor and cheese was grated too thick. Summary. This place must be hit or miss so inconsistency must be an issue. Homemade Italian if you are not necessarily a cook may be great for you but this place is not remarkable. Nice atmosphere though. read more

This was our 3rd time going here and probably our last for quite awhile. The first time great! 2nd time ok, last night awful. We had reservations for 2 at 6:45, our server Megan was very sweet but not attentive and her timing was off. It was freezing in the restaurant and the lighting was very bright! It took 10 minutes to get a glass of Chardonnay and Jamison's. Ordered an appetizer of fried zucchini and calamari- 20 minutes later it came out completely burnt. It tasted like the oil hadn't been changed in weeks, totally inedible. We maybe ate one or 2 pieces when the side salads came out. My husbands Cesar salad tasted sour but my spinach salad was delicious. I had maybe one bite when our entrees were brought. So everything pretty much came out at the same time. My husband's cappellini in Arrabiata sauce was watery and my cappellini in Sorentino ( sp) sauce tasted and looked like it was sitting in lemon flavored dish water. Our plates were never pre bussed, our bread was never replenished, we were never asked how our meal was or if we needed anything, we were never asked if we wanted another drink. And they were not busy as they were turning people away. We counted 9 open tables and 4 tables that were finished. No excuse for service like that or the quality of food to come out like that. This is about as good as Italian food gets in greater Mobile. Maybe that's a compliment, maybe that's like saying my neighbor's Alfa is the finest Italian car on the street. As a former Gene & Georgetti regular of Italian heritage, the chicken parm was pretty decent with crispy breading and a tang, but too salty. The homemade noodles were pretty cool. The "arrabiata" sauce was nothing great, I saw a lot of red flakes on it and a topping of red flakes does not arrabiata make. You gotta put those flakes in real early and cook them down, then add your onions and make the sauce from there. Also the sauce should've been cooked down another hour, it was too bright red for me. The extra added meatball I had was pretty good, too. Overall I would certainly go back for another chicken parm or try something new. I had a bite of my wife's Briano and it was pretty good, too. Maybe it needed capers or something. The calamari was low on taste and the marinara the same. Don't bother. Also, our waitress was really nice and attentive but made a comment like "pasta is pasta". No, it really isn't. Fortunately the home made noodles were good and cooked just right, too, with a little bite. The kitchen is notoriously slow here, everybody knows it. Don't fight it, go on a night when you have time. The team was all very kind and helpful. Gotta love a place like that. Also a clean and nice setting. read more

Give the bruschetta a shot for sure and the meatballs are a must! The chicken was a bit dry across the board, maybe it was an off night. Overall the food was delicious. The waiter doubled as the host but did well enough on a slow night. I'm sure the weekends and busy periods have more staff on hand. The orders were all correct and he made some good recommendations. The restaurant itself was a mix of upscale dinning and eating at your Italian friends house. There was nicely placed art on the wall, the table cloths were fine and dazzling, but there was a bathroom right behind a table, as in you could rest your elbow on the door handle close. Something was off tonight. Food lukewarm when delivered. I waited for my cocktail so long, I thought about canceling it before my dinner got there. My friends kept saying "where is your drink"; so it just wasn't me. I think the owner was bartending, and that's fine, I heard they are hiring. I get it. The food just wasn't as good as it usually is. Bread, pasta, always great. The crawfish on my dish seemed to have a weird taste and was a strange texture. So put it aside. The shrimp were delicious. The chicken parmigiana was our biggest disappointment. It came to us looking like it was a replica, or "display food" so people would know what it looked like, and it tasted as such. My daughter said "is it even hot?" It wasn't. Waitress was sweet, but had no knowledge of the basic things on the menu.
