    Seared Lamb Chops
    Vicki S.

This new restaurant is located where the old 84th St Bar and Grill was located off 84th St. What a treat....after a relaxing pedicure at TK Nails and Spa my daughter and I decided to try this new restaurant. The food was phenomenal!! We started off with a Capri Spritz .. yum .. for an appetizer we shared the Fried Green Tomatoes. I haven't found any better anywhere. Nice and thick with a balsamic glaze. We finished with Seared Lamb Loin Chops, which we also shared. Sawyer was our waitress and her service and attentiveness was an A+. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to try something different and exciting...we'll be going back to try some other delicious foods we saw on the menu.

My husband and I live not too far from here and wanted to try somewhere new. Somos offers a Latin fusion menu with incredibly fresh, bold flavors that strike the perfect balance between traditional and modern. Not everywhere in the area can you enjoy a Pisco Sour or for that matter such remarkable and personable service. We were waited on by Julia who was refreshingly positive and attentive. I enjoyed the Shrimp and Grits while my husband had some Mahi Tacos. Both with fun flavors and beautiful presentation! The atmosphere of the restaurant is fun and colorful and which absolutely contributes to the experience. We will absolutely be back to enjoy Somos!

The food was good and the place was very nice and clean. The staff were on top of things, but they didn't have a liquor license just yet. Recommend if you're in the area. You must try the corn ice cream!

They are still waiting on their liquor license, so no drinks, but I had a mocktail that was good.

Luckily we got a table and our server was really friendly. The menu is made up of Peruvian and Colombian specialties. I'm not super familiar with these foods so we ordered the bandeja paisa which seemed to be a sampler platter of sorts, and an order of empanadas. The food came out and looked delicious! I loved the empanadas - they were smaller than I was expecting but super fresh and tasty, with a nice texture (crispy outside, soft inside). I really liked the sauces that they came with. The bandeja paisa was very interesting. It was a plate with steak, chorizo, crackling, plantain, rice and beans, avocado, and egg. The steak was probably my favorite part - it was a very thin cut of meat but well seasoned and tasty. The beans were also delicious. Nate really liked the chorizo but I thought it was a little dry, and the crackling was very crispy but a bit tough. Overall I'm glad we tried this spot and would like to have more of their Peruvian dishes next time.

We started with some fried sweet plantains which were served with cheese, Honduran sour cream (more like crema), and refried beans. We loved them, nice and hot and fun to try with the various additions. I ordered the chicken San Pedro, which was fried chicken with plantains, cabbage, onions, Pico, and plenty of tasty sauce. The sauce on it was so good and almost hard to describe- tangy and somewhat sweet. The chicken was cooked well and I really liked the plantains, I of course don't eat a lot of those. My husband ordered the empanadas (pastelitos) and he was in the clean plate club. We also got a horchata and Jamaica. They also serve breakfast all day which I'm sure we will come back for. May be worth noting that this isn't your typical Mexican or tex-mex fare, for people who don't know what Honduran cuisine is. It may be slightly outside of someone's comfort zone- but that's not a problem, just a heads up if you go with someone picky or expecting Mexican food specifically. One thing- we came on a Friday evening and we were the only ones until we were about to leave. You hate to see that for a small business!! This place deserves our attention and business. There's plenty of seating inside. So get out here and try it if you're considering it, hmm I keep driving by that bright blue building, what is it? It's your next tasty meal!

My boyfriend and I stopped in to grab some snacks and since they're part of the downtown refreshment zone, we also got some drinks to go. The staff at the AC Hotel is incredibly professional, welcoming, and authentically kind. Our service was great while we were there. I love the varied cozy seating at this bar! We chose a high top at one of the large windows, which was great for people watching. They keep them open during warmer weather so we heard a lot of the hustle and bustle of downtown. We started with some recommended drinks from our bartender -- I ordered the pina colada milk punch on draft, and my boyfriend got the skeleton key. The pina colada milk punch was really refreshing! It's made with coconut water instead of coconut cream you find in a typical pina colada, and it has a little bubbliness to it while still being tropical. I really liked it and would definitely order it again. The skeleton key was really nice, too! It was a ginger beer drink that was also refreshing. The drinks were delicious but didn't taste too much like alcohol - could be a good thing or a bad thing! For my to-go drink, I got an aperol spritz, which was delicious! For food, we got the albondigas and manchego croquettes to share. The croquettes were deliciously creamy melted cheese and perfectly fried! The aioli dipping sauce was really tasty but not needed with the richness of the croquette. The croquettes came three to an order, so be aware of that if you're planning on sharing. The albondigas were flavorful and I really liked the tomato sauce. They could have been a little more tender, but I enjoyed eating them with the baguette. Overall, our experience at La Ventanita was definitely five stars, especially due to the superior service. I would go back to try more of the food--the Cuban style burger sounds really tasty!

Luckily for us, we were able to get a table right away. Don't sleep on this place! We got a delicious and filling meal for about $30! The menu has changed a bit since they first opened in 2023 with more options for entrees. We ordered the yuca, chorizo, and beef and potato empanadas to share. I'd love to come back to try the steak and other options. Our food came out quickly and everything was super hot and fresh. Their yuca is the best I've ever had - super crispy on the outside and perfectly salted, and not dry inside. I do recommend eating the yuca before it gets too cold, it's best when it's freshly fried! I loved the empanadas with the tender shredded beef and soft potatoes inside. The included hot sauce gave them the perfect kick. The chorizo was a great side to add some more protein, and it was flavorful and not too dry. I think it came with an arepa on the side, which was surprisingly delicious! The vibe inside is cute and has a cafe feel, and I can't wait to come back to try more of their menu. I did ask if the salchipapas were still on the menu because I didn't notice it listed, and was assured they still make this dish! That was my favorite last time, so I'm looking forward to getting that one again too. We're lucky to have this special spot right downtown, so hopefully more people will check it out.
