    Son of a Butcher receipt.

I saw the "Son of a Butcher's" segment on "Texas Today" last week. Since we were meeting friends for dinner, we thought the Legacy West location would be a good place to eat. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The hall wasn't too busy at 6 pm.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My husband and I ordered the 2 slider combo as did our friends with fries and onion rings. Once seated, we all spent about 5 mins trying to figure out which slider was which. At first, we thought they gave us our friends' tray! I ordered a Champ burger and a Smokehouse burger. Nothing in our 4 sliders made them distinguishable from the other. No brisket for the Smokehouse slider, no pimento for my husband's cowboy slider, etc. None of them was the Champ because none had lettuce, pickle or tomato. The patties are tiny and dry compared to the ones the SOB rep was making on TV. It is not the customers' responsibility to figure out the order...it's the restaurant's job to present in a way where the guests don't have to play a guessing game. Such a disappointment!

I've been coming here for years, and the food has always been good. Unfortunately, they recently stopped selling the loaded fries, which were definitely my favorite item on the menu. They have good slider options, but I feel like they are a bit overpriced. It's definitely worth trying, but with all of the other amazing options at Legacy Food Hall, it's never my go-to.

    Popper! AMAZING!!!!

I stopped by Son of a Butcher and it's a great spot if you're in the mood for sliders and something a little different from the usual burger place. The concept is fun because you can try a few different sliders instead of committing to just one. My favorite by far is the Popper. It has that jalapeño popper flavor with the perfect mix of spice and creaminess, and it pairs really well with the beef and toppings. It's easily the best item on the menu in my opinion and the one I'd recommend ordering if it's your first time there. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere is casual and lively, making it a great place to grab a quick bite with friends.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]You can also enjoy your food anywhere inside of Legacy Hall (3 floors) or eat outside![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service is friendly as well. They do a good job of explaining the burger options and providing recommendations.

I had SOB down in lower Greenville years ago, wasn't that impressed, and haven't had it since. Was walking around Legacy Hall and saw some getting served up and thought dang that actually looks good. So I gave in and was pretty impressed. I'm not into gimmicky things but the PB and J slaps! The Haystack and Popper were also good. The half and half were ok. Nothing to really write home about, I really did like their sweet chili brussel sprouts but if I could do it over again, I'd ask for them with less sauce. I'd go back.

The first restaurant that caught my eye when I visited Legacy food hall! [[HIGHLIGHT]]There's a lot of other stalls and the place was fairly busy on a Sunday, but we got seating near the TVs showing NFL games, which was a nice bonus.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The menu was straightforward and easy to navigate - you can pick and choose your types of sliders and sides, got to try a 3 slider combo. Really like the idea of wagyu sliders, the brisket one and the pb&J were all pretty good, great mix of flavors. The waffle fries were crispy and served at the right temperature. Sliders are a bit small so you can knock these out in a few bites. Overall, service was fast and a solid place to grab a quick bite if you don't want to wait for some of the other spots in the area.

Highlights are the Brussels sprouts and the oyster Rockefeller slider - Not the biggest fan of the burnt ends or the wagyu sliders. Loaded fries were also OK Definitely should've tried the classic / cowboy, seemed like the perfect slider options. Don't get lost trying to find this place! It is located in the food court at legacy hall. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Finding a table might be a bit difficult during peak hours as there are many other stalls[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

SOB Portion size was ridiculous. I ordered a.snack, a half & half fries & onion rings,$3.50 What I received was shocking , see pic I would have rated Son of a Butcher less than a 1 star, if that were an option

So very disappointed in my order last night which I took one bite and tossed. Tried calling the Plano location with no luck. Also this morning and no answer. It took over an hour to get a full refund from Door Dash last night. Wanted to ask questions about the different sliders I saw on great reviews but as I said no one answered the phone. Assuming they're super busy most of the time. I added a picture of my first order which was great so here I go again for another attempt for perfection. I think my first review in the door dash didn't come here. But it was fantastic 6 STARS Feb 1st order @ Delivery order 11:04am: Kinda surprised still it wasn't like my first order- No on the Smokehouse NEXT . It was dry but a little pink in the center. No one answers the resturant phone either. Guest I have to review on Yelp to get a response from them. Didn't see the burnt item everyone said was good thinking it's not on the delivery items on door dash. Kids are in town this weekend so hoping we can do to the Plano location because again my FIRST delivery order from here was fantastic. if it's the cook on my first order he/she needs to work ALL shifts‍‍‍

Enjoyed our 1st time visit to "Son of a Butcher"@ Legacy Hall Plano. We enjoyed the half chicken, smoked brisket, mac n cheese and fried okra. Everything was fresh and delicious The only mishap was the server initially forgot to add the smoked brisket to our order of food when ready. This inconvenience caused my husband to revisit the counter and show our actual food order, by the server request, as proof of order because the server was sure he had already added to our order. The server later apologized. We will return. We will definitely make sure the order which is packed in small boxes and a bag is correct before leaving the counter!

I'm always weary of restaurants that open in food halls and this was no different. Got two sliders and fries. The fries were overcooked and very dry. The sliders were decent but the bun was cold and untoasted, and toppings were just okay. Didn't seem the most fresh but the meat itself was good. Overall, just pretty disappointing.

I was looking for a solid burger spot in the Carrollton area and came across this place on Yelp. The thing that caught my eyes most were the shakes and the PB and J slider on their menu. One of my foods back home was this burger called the PBJ Burger however that restaurant closed down so seeing this on any menu made me really excited. This place is located inside of a building next to a bunch of other restaurants, kind of like a food court/ bar type vibe. There is a lot of seating but they also have like a quick eat stand up bar to the side of their restaurant where you can eat. The girl on cash register was very patient and friendly. I chose the three slider sampler option and opted in for the All American Wagyu slider, PBJ slider, and the popper. I also got the loader brisket fried and the cookie butter shake. All were exceptionally delicious and juicy. The brisket fries did not let down either. They were crispy and flavorful from the brisket and other toppings. The cookie butter is do die for. The cashier made this shake like she was making it for herself. The most perfect shake ever. Presentable and tasty.

This was amazing brisket! And honestly I'm not even a fan of brisket but this here I will make sure to stop by and order whenever I'm in the area.

I was excited to see this place when we meet up at Legacy Hall for a large event. I ended up ordering the 3 slider meal and went with the Burnt Ends, TX Philly, and the PBJ. The TX Philly while good, could not keep up with the flavors bursting from the Burnt Ends and the PBJ. The Burnt Ends had a great mixture of flavors between the Gouda, burnt ends, and beef that made me wanting to go back for another. The surprise winner was the PBJ. While I have had other burgers with both peanut butter/bacon and peanut butter/jelly, this one had the perfect mixture. The use of blackberry jam with the bacon and grilled onions made this both a savory meal and almost a desert in one. The blackberry gave it more flavor and not as sweet as grape, which helped it not overpower the burger and become a sugar overload. I will be ordering multiple ones of this next time as it has become one of my favorite wild burgers to crave.

I ordered the turkey burger along with sweet potato fries. Unfortunately, I was brought regular fries instead, and neither the fries nor the burger really matched my personal taste preferences. That said, food is subjective, and what didn't work for me may be exactly what someone else enjoys. The service was okay overall, and one thing I did appreciate was seeing people genuinely interacting and talking with each other. In a world where everyone is often glued to their phones, it was nice to see a place that seemed to encourage conversation and connection. While my meal wasn't a favorite, I can understand why this place attracts a crowd. I'd still recommend giving it a try and deciding for yourself, especially if you're looking for a casual burger spot with a busy, social atmosphere.

There was plenty of seating at the restaurant with long tables, sit down tables, and outdoor seating. After choosing our table we waited 15 minutes before our waitresses showed up. They were very busy with the lunch rush so it took awhile between everything. It even took awhile to get our waters. One waitress was in training and learning from the other. The positive was that the waitresses were friendly throughout. After looking at the menu and waiting another 15 minutes we finally placed our order. We got our appetizer after waiting another 15 minutes. Thankfully that held us over until we got our burgers and fries. We started with tostada chips and queso. It was good and we ate it up pretty quickly. We requested another basket of chips to finish off the queso. To eat with our burgers we ordered hand punched fries and sweet potato fries. The hand cut fries were nice and thick and you could taste the salt. I enjoyed eating them with ketchup. The sweet potato fries were also thick and salty and you could taste the flavor of the potato. No need for ketchup with these fries unless you want it. For my burger I ordered the HL Hunt cooked medium which comes with white cheese, bacon, blackberry compote and mustard. The burger was filling, the cheese was melted but it had little flavor, and the bacon was chewy. The compote was my favorite part of the burger as it added a slightly sweet flavor. I requested a medium cooked burger but it didn't taste that way but it was still good despite that. Overall Rodeo Goat has lots of seating and friendly staff but I would go at an off peak time so that you don't have to wait a long time for everything. The food was still good despite the wait.

The decor and theme are inspired by New Orleans/Creole/Cajun vibes, and it's beautifully put together. The layout of the location is a slight "L" shape, so seating can be a bit limited during busy times. It's a seat-yourself setup, and they provide QR codes at the tables for you to place your order and pay when you're ready. Now, onto the food and service. Unfortunately, the wait for both food and drinks were longer than expected, even as the rush began to die down. Our pretzel appetizer didn't arrive until near the end of our meal, and sadly, it was overcooked. Drinks The beer was great and a definite highlight of the experience. Here's what we ordered: Appetizers Giant Pub Pretzel ($13.99): A 12.05 oz pretzel served with signature beer cheese and beer mustard. Unfortunately, this dish was a disappointment. Despite being called "Giant," the pretzel was thin, and was a bit overcooked. While we enjoyed the beer cheese, the beer mustard could have stayed in the kitchen. Loaded Broccoli ($8.99): Steamed broccoli seasoned with Cajun spices, topped with melted cheese and your choice of chicken, beef, or pulled pork. I chose chicken, which was delicious and well-seasoned. However, the cheese was a huge letdown, it had an odd, roux-like texture and flavor that nearly made the dish inedible. Entrée Voo-Dill Pickle Pizza ($12.99): Made with roasted garlic pesto, fresh mozzarella, thick-cut pickles, and a special Voo-Dill seasoning. While the concept was intriguing, the execution fell short. The pizza crust was undercooked, and the pickles seemed like they were added at the very end instead of being baked with the pizza. The garlic pesto was the highlight of this dish. Desserts -King Cake Slice ($3.XX): Clearly store-bought and not made in-house. It also took a while to reach our table, which was odd considering it's pre-packaged. The kitchen area even had the King Cake box visible. Beignets ($7.99): Over-fried and served with icing that was overly lemony, which overpowered the dish. Side Order Jalapeño Slaw ($2.99): The star of the meal! It had the perfect balance of mayo and vinegar, with a fresh kick from the jalapeños and Cajun spices. I wish I had ordered more! I think this place has a lot of potential. The concept is fantastic, but the kitchen needs improvement. I do plan to return and give it another try because the space and the idea are great. Hopefully, next time the food lives up to the vision!
