Jason and I stopped in for a quick bite after he'd been wanting to try this place for a while--and overall, we had a great experience. Jason ordered the classic burger with everything on it, plus regular fries and a drink. I went with the garden burger and added cheese, mustard, mayo, lettuce, onions, and pickles. I also ordered cheese fries, but they had run out of cheese and kindly offered to comp the fries instead--which I appreciated. They were fine as-is. We split an order of fried pickles. At first, it didn't seem like a huge portion for the price ($5.50), but we didn't even finish them, so it ended up being worth it. The burgers were delicious, and my hibiscus strawberry lemonade was so good. Jason even had his Coke "zero" option which is huge for us. Shoutout to the staff--the gentleman who brought out our burgers and the woman who took our order were incredibly kind and welcoming. The place was very clean (bathrooms and drink area included), good music was playing, and there was a TV in the corner (not on, but no big deal). The chicken sandwiches and milkshakes we saw go by looked AMAZING, so we'll definitely be back to try those. I got the classic burger with cheese. The veggies tasted fresh, and crisp with a soft bun. The burger patty itself was okay. Nothing really unique about the burger, and was okay. I also got the chili fries. Again the fries were okay, but the chili they have is not the traditional chili I'm accustomed to. It almost tasted like it had a Asian twist or spice to it. They also have shakes but didn't get to try. Seating is plentiful; parking is good. They do make the food fresh, and didn't take long to get the food out. I'm not sure if I was expecting a more authentic experience being it's called "Way Back" hoping to have old school dining experience, but definitely didn't feel like the classic burger places I've dined at. I have never eaten at a Wayback Burger before today. It seemed a "little" upscale for this kind of place. Similar to a Mooya Burger or Five Guys without the peanuts. It seemed very clean. I had heard some negatives about the fries, so I chose the tater tots. For a tater tots, they were perfection. Nicely crispy on the outside without being over cooked, while still maintaining a softness inside. I chose the A1 Burger. The 2 patties were vary flavorful. The kind of flavor that comes from good beef and fat, but not so much fat that it winds up leaking down your arm while eating it. Just enough to keep it moist and full of flavor, but not enough to soak your bun to oblivion. The fried onions were a very nice touch. If I found one shortfall, it would be that I really didn't get much taste of A1 sauce. It was kind of hard to know it was even there. The guy behind the counter was helpful in answering my questions about their fries. I wouldn't classify it so much as friendly, but as very helpful all the same. I had to repair a flat tire at the nearby tire shop in Frisco and walked to see what was available to eat. I ran into Wayback Burgers. My first time at this place. I learned that they are under new management and they are doing it right. The burgers were delicious! the buns are not your typical bun and the taste is like buying from one of those old school burgers joints that don't compare to the run of the mill big chain-burgers places. We could not have had a better experience, especially for a first visit. Of note, there was an "Under New Management" sign in the window. As we were on our maiden visit, it is fair to say these types of notices always make me wonder. I'd skimmed some of the reviews, and perhaps those out there who made be scared off by some of the older reviews that conveyed poor experiences may want to take note. The first thing I noticed when we entered, and this is just a design flaw, is that you have to come in from the side and with the opaque dividers the crew member at the counter cannot see you. You also do not get a good look at the menu board until you navigate around. All that said, once we were in view, we were promptly greeted by a very friendly young man. He took our order efficiently. He answered a couple of questions in the most polite manner. In addition to regular drink options, they have two agua frescas and two lemondaes, I believe. We each chose an agua fresca and waited for our order. I have to compliment the quality of the burgers and sides. I ordered the A1 burger with fried pickles & my wife got the Bacon cheeseburger with cheese curds. TOP NOTCH! The food came out at the right temperature, and it was properly seasoned. The burgers were super-tender (not tough like they'd been cooked from frozen). All in all, it was a terrific experience, and we will most definitely return. It's a bit more of a drive than we usually make for a quick dinner, but it was so worth it that I'm willing to drive Preston Road on a Saturday evening. That says a lot! read more

I used to come to wayback during the nighttime, when the other owners were there. The food was great! The burgers and fries were nice and HOT, meaning really delicious, that's why I loved to come here. We went back 2 weeks ago, the owner's have changed it. Now the food is not good at all! The burguers are cold, the onios are chopped used to be the onion rings inside now is chopped. Anyhow the food quality has gone 70% down from what used to be. At the cash register their was the halal certificate which was a nice touch. Walking in we were greeted. The inside is nice and clean and the music is nice. We had a great dine in experience. Our cashier was Joshua he helped us out with the menu and recommendations. I had the meal day just a classic cheese burgers the bread was nice and fresh the cheese curds were fresh and crispy. First time here. The food was hot and made to order. They have kids options that are hearty and not some sorry excuse for kids food. Probably one of the cleanest places I've been to in a while. We didn't get ice because it looked like the ice machine was moldy. The original burger was delicious. Too much mustard and ketchup for my taste but that's a preference. Ordered chicken tenders -- as part of the family package. They arrived-unbeknownst to us--burned, inedible. We tried to call. No answer. We attempted to contact Jake's Franchisung, Cheshire, CT. No answer. We called UberEaTs several times. We were told by JESSE at UberEats that the picture arrived in Kim's email--the first rep from UberEats. Jesse said that a supervisor would need to review. Never offered to redeliver. Told me to call back within 48 hours and to put the bad review on UberEats for Wayback. Called after 48 hours: UberEats claimed I used the wrong email (false--I replied to the email THEY sent per instructions on email and used my Uber email (on my profile).). Ordered a bun-less burger and they did not have any plastic ware. Employee offered to bag it up to go. Problem with that is I just walked over to grab lunch while waiting for tire repair. Had to ask the employee to go to the restaurant next door to get me a plastic fork and knife, he brings back 3 forks. Then had to ask to use a knife they used for cutting vegetables so I could eat. As I waited and looked around the restaurant was not clean, from equipment to the floors. Will not be back, poorly managed. read more

It says they close at 9. I pulled up at 8:04 and was told the owners close an hour early if it's closed. Haven't actually tried the food but the menu looked good. Unfortunate that they randomly close early if it's slow. Make sure to contact before ordering or going there. Good luck! read more

I have been coming to this place for years when it first opened it was really tasty and great consistent service. I brought my husband and kids back and I was really disappointed at what we received and what we paid this is not a good place at all anymore. Almost perfect! I Yelp ordered via GrubHub. My food came out great. The fries and onions were crispy. They didnt skimp on portion size and the burger was beautiful! It got a bit soggy because of sauce but it was a small side that was. My only feedback is the hotwings I got, Wayback should put them in takeout containers instead of two hotdog containers ontop of each other because sauce was everywhere (it wasnt cause of driver).
