Cozy, friendly and within decent range of my destinations. Parking was easy as they have a small lot at the back of the building. Breakfast was delicious and the coffee was great. My room was on the 3rd floor, so beware if you are bring a lot of luggage as there are no elevators (not that I was expecting any). I reserved this room as I wanted the fireplace. My only caveat: If you plan on using the fireplace, it is gas, and I couldn't figure out why I couldn't get it on the first night. I asked the next morning and didn't realize I had to ask for the pilot light to be lit. It was early October and it had just gotten cool out. The hosts were so accommodating! There is a small pantry area where there is a fridge for common use if needed with bottled water and coffee/tea available. (Keurig and Kcups). This was my first time booking a B&B and it was the perfect experience. My only SLIGHT disappointment was that the Wi-Fi left a little to be desired. It was sometimes spotty, but still got me through. I would most definitely recommend it and if I am in the Philly area, would book it again in a heartbeat!

We had originally booked another place on Airbnb but when we arrived it was dirty and we decided to leave. I found the Gables at the last minute and they had a room and allowed us to check in within an hour. The room was amazing. We were so worn down after a day of travel and the bad Airbnb experience that we would have taken anything clean, but were pleasantly surprised by the pristine, peaceful, beautiful suite that we got. The owners were very understanding of our situation and helped us get settled right away. They were great about helping us get trolley tokens and find our way downtown so we could enjoy what was left of the day. In addition, since it was my birthday they even surprised us with cake and champagne. The morning breakfast was also great and checkout was easy. I am a Penn alum but somehow didn't know about the Gables. It is now my go to place for trips to Philadelphia, I can't recommend it enough. Thanks to the owners for a great stay!

The positives first: the hotel is beautifully designed, our first dinner at Bastia was excellent, and the bed in our original room was very comfortable. Unfortunately, almost everything else fell short. Our stay started on an odd note when the front desk asked if we needed help with our luggage. When we politely declined, the employee loudly replied, "Thank God." It was an unprofessional first impression. Our first room was not what we expected. We booked what we believed was a one-level suite, but instead were assigned a room accessed only by a narrow, steep staircase leading to what felt like an attic. We later learned it's better to call the hotel directly because the online room descriptions can be misleading. The biggest issue with that room was that it had no blackout curtains over two large windows in the sitting area. Bright exterior lights poured into the room all night, making it nearly impossible to sleep. The next morning, Ryan kindly moved us to another room on the first floor overlooking the courtyard and "spool." While we appreciated the effort, it was clearly a downgrade from what we originally booked. Unfortunately, the replacement room wasn't properly cleaned. After dropping an earring, I used my phone flashlight and found black hair, dust, and dirt all over the floor. I reported it immediately to the manager. The most disappointing part of our stay was the hotel's second anniversary celebration. We were initially told guests were invited, but when we returned that evening, the entire courtyard and bar had been roped off as a private employee event. At over $1,000 per night, it was frustrating to lose access to the hotel's primary outdoor space so the hotel could host its own party. Even the complimentary guest water station had been moved inside the private event. Later that evening, several employees came outside near our patio and began smoking what smelled like marijuana before quickly going back inside after noticing us. It was incredibly unprofessional. Service throughout the stay was inconsistent. Some employees were friendly and helpful, while others seemed annoyed by guests. This hotel also isn't ideal for anyone looking for a quiet boutique experience. Although the rooms include mushroom gummies, intimacy products, and a full bar, which suggests an adult-focused atmosphere, it was filled with young children screaming in the tiny spool throughout the day. That's obviously not the hotel's fault if they allow children, but it wasn't the atmosphere we expected. Another disappointment was the wine program. At dinner our bottle was served noticeably warm, and later we purchased a $150 bottle from the hotel bar that was also warm and tasted oxidized. We regularly drink this wine and know how it should taste, making us question how their wine is being stored. Our second night's sleep was even worse. The queen bed and pillows were uncomfortable, upstairs guests were extremely noisy for hours, and at 6:30 a.m. employees began loudly dragging metal patio furniture across the courtyard. After being woken up by hotel staff, coffee wasn't even available until 7:00 a.m. On Friday night, the courtyard remained crowded and noisy until nearly 11:00 p.m., despite being told it closed at 10:00. Since our room faced the courtyard, the noise carried directly inside. We were never warned that our room would be subject to restaurant, bar and courtyard noise. For the amount we paid, I expected exceptional hospitality, attention to detail, and a relaxing stay. Instead, we received a downgraded room, cleanliness issues, inconsistent service, poor sleep, and lost access to one of the hotel's primary guest amenities during a private staff event. No adjustment to our bill was offered. Anna & Bel is undeniably beautiful, but beautiful décor alone doesn't justify luxury pricing. At over $1,000 per night, the experience simply wasn't worth it. If you're visiting Fishtown, I'd recommend renting a nice VRBO instead and enjoying the fantastic restaurants in the neighborhood while avoiding the disappointment we experienced.

We were initially booked in a room that is on the first floor directly behind lobby and hotel restaurant. There was significant noise from the restaurant and bar area which does not close until 11 pm and the windows of the room opened to the courtyard (so little privacy). Due to the atmospheric noise we requested to move to another room on a higher floor and the staff quickly accommodated us (which we appreciated). We ate dinner at Bastia which was excellent - the staff was knowledgeable and provided great recommendations. It was great receiving a citrus snack at the end of their meal. Our king room was spacious and well appointed. There is a small bar cabinet with mini fridge and microwave which was great for late night dining of our leftovers. The shower had some of the best water pressure I've ever experienced in a hotel. We also had lunch poolside from Caletta and the swordfish skewers were so good. The pool was heated during a chillier day which made it very enjoyable even with cooler weather. The courtyard pool is surrounded by Caletta which is open to the public but the pool is only for hotel guests. I love the history and coziness of this hotel. Would definitely stay again. There is paid valet parking or free self parking (about three blocks walk from hotel) $$$

The front desk person took several minutes to acknowledge us. His McDonalds order was sitting all over the counter above where he was working. As he was ready to take our credit card he told us they don't allow pets. He called his supervisor and asked her to tell us over his cell phone that they had new ownership and would not accept pets anymore despite their website and other booking sites. They said they would refund us, but to call Hopper who we booked through. We called and spent an hour on the phone with Hopper, and Hopper said they denied the refund.

The room was clean, well lit, updated, and comfortable. It included a mini fridge, a stove, a microwave, a small closet, a large bathroom, a table and chair, and a sitting chair. The window treatments were well chose, worked well, and worked effectively at keeping the room dark in broad daylight. The air conditioner worked well and the room was comfortable. The bed and pillows were also comfortable. The shower was nice and it had soap, shampoo, and conditioner fastened to the wall. We swam in the pool once and had a couple drinks, which were readily available from the lobby's grab-n-go section. The staff were friendly as well. We slept through breakfast everyday, so we didn't get to try that. But so many wonderful food options nearby, that didn't both us one bit. Very nice hotel. Very nice staff.

Stayed here this past weekend since I was hosting a party in the venue next door. This was my first…read moretime staying here and it was ok. I luckily was put in a corner room so I provided the feel of more space for my king bed room (I didn't have a suite). The room was ok, but had a couple signs of wear&tear. Free breakfast is available every morning, which is very helpful. The best aspects of the hotel in my opinion are the staff! Everyone we interacted with was so friendly and helpful - they really provided a high level of hospitality and service to all of us staying there. My parents were placed/upgraded to the bridal suite by the front desk staff when checking in because they knew they were celebrating their 30th anniversary. One of the kitchen staff was kind enough to make some turkey sausage since none of us eat pork, and then she came out to speak with us about a certain piece of fruit that my nephew may like - it was very sweet of her. Not sure if this would be my first choice if I'm staying at the Riverfront again, but I would consider it because of the staff service - they make the place great!
