I've stayed here multiple times now and it's always a high quality stay. Cookie at check in. Amazing Rooms are spacious and very nice. Crabtree Evelyn products in the bathroom. Plenty of food options in the area. The staff are very accommodating and responsive. I have a severe down allergy and they've gone above and beyond to make sure the bedding is feather free each stay. One time it wasn't and they sent housekeeping up immediately to change out the bedding. read more

The outside of the building looks like an office building. We were a little thrown off by that. As you enter the lobby is very nice and makes you feel like this might be a quality establishment. Then you enter the very dark outdated hallways leading to the rooms. We stayed in room 425. The room was very dated and all of the furniture was dinged up. The bathroom was in desperate need of a revamp. The toilet paper they use was so thin you had to wipe yourself with the tissues which still weren't much better. This is a budget hotel attempting to act as if it's a high end one. We will not be back. read more

The Desmond is a good stay when in malvern. Food is decent at the fox and hound restaurant and the service is great. Amenities are a tad bit outdated and could use some upgrades. Also, maybe a new carpet throughout the hotel but that' doesn't take away from the actual pleasantness I've experienced. read more

The Desmond was absolutely wonderful! The staff are all supremely, helpful, and friendly! We upgraded to a suite and I am SO happy that we did. The suite was huge! Giant separate, living room area with fireplace and dining room table the adjacent king bedroom was spacious also. The beds are extremely comfortable and the pillows, fluffy and soft. The bartenders and the manager of the kitchen were so very friendly and attentive. I had their crab chowder and it was fresh, flavorful and a welcomed hot dish on chilly day. I truly enjoyed my stay there and will 100% be back when I'm in the area. read more

Stayed at this hotel 3 years in a row for an annual job related conference. Smooth check in and check out. Clean accommodations. Plenty of parking. Variety of food and drinks. DOTTIE the bartender was a gem. She kept the party rockin with her specialty drinks and overall great attitude! I haven't seen a breakfast buffet this extensive with so many options in a very long time. With bacon, two types of sausage and eggs, the protein contingent was well represented. Pastries and donuts were well represented and non breakfast items such as spaghetti, marinated flank steak and seafood were available too. Excellent luncheon experience here today for a family gathering. The service was excellent and attentive. Ice tea and lemonade were provided when we entered. Tables on the veranda were set with white tablecloths. Everything in the buffet was delicious. The salads were fresh and tasty. The roasted potatoes were crisp and flavorful. I enjoyed the sirloin tips and the balsamic chicken was moist and flavorful. The cream of broccoli soup was perfect. The desserts were equally delicious. The bread pudding was one of the best versions I have ever had. Creamy with a nice vanilla sauce. The cookies and macaroons were also tasty. Decided to come to The Desmond for a Sunday Brunch. Driving up, The Desmond had the appearance of a standard full service hotel and traditional interior décor. For a $22 brunch I found the menu and quality of food to be seriously underwhelming. The brunch had a number of options from made-to-order omelettes to biscuits and gravy. Taking a little bit of everything, none of the dishes truly stood out in flavor. All the egg dishes had a simple salt and pepper taste, the biscuits for the biscuits & gravy were stale, and the salad seemed like it was out a bag mix. There was also a hot-dish special with flank steak, but it was lukewarm and completely overpowered by the salty au jus. I also tried some of the fresh-made dishes you could order from the kitchen, but I found the Eggs Benedict to be way too buttery. The Desmond is an appropriate place for large events and festive times of the year, but the buffet was not really worth the price. read more

​I would have given the hotel 3 Stars, but the breakfast ruined that. I was back in Philadelphia for a wedding industry event and stayed at the Desmond one night. The Front Desk team was friendly and helpful, and check-in was smooth and easy. As always, the cookie was a nice touch. I had a single king room and was given a Handicapped Accessible​ room right off of the lobby, next​ to the elevator. The elevator noise is a bit annoying, sleeping​ with my music on fixed that. The room was spacious and well-appointed​. The bed is very comfortable with big fluffy pillows. There are plenty​ of outlets and the A/C works really well. I went to the Fork & Bottle restaurant for the breakfast buffet. I arrived and there were about 6 people in the dining room, there was no hostess to be found, after about 5 minutes she wandered out of the side stand and seated me right on top of one of the four occupied tables. A young woman brought me water, offered me coffee, and disappeared. She passed me twice and told me they were waiting on the ​coffee, when it arrived it was brought by a gentleman who brought coffee to the man next to me (he was already finished his first plate of food), served my coffee​ and managed to spill a cappuccino from his tray all over the floor and my table. I asked about the breakfast buffet and he directed me to the adjoining room. The room had a bread station with a ​toaster and condiments​ in the center. A cold breakfast food station, the​ third station with antipasti, smoked salmon and fruit, and a fourth​ with hot food. All of the stations looked like they needed some attention​ for as slow as the restaurant was. The condiments​ for the smoked salmon were practically empty. The pan of eggs was dry and hard on the bottom​ like they had not​changed the pan and just added more eggs. Returning to the table, the eggs, fried potatoes, sausage, ​and bacon were all lukewarm​ despite the pans being on an induction burner. I was nearly done my breakfast when I heard the server at a new table near me offer the gentleman eggs made to order with his breakfast buffet. Good value for the money. Property desperately needs updating. Room serve was overpriced and the pool and hot tub area was dirty. Beds comfortable, no air flow at all so ask for a room with a balcony because the windows don't open. Management was really nice, the bar area was fancy. read more

Met a friend for a late dinner at the hotel's restaurant, the Fox & Hounds. I asked our server for a random shot, and she brought over possibly the worst red headed slut shot ($7) I've ever taken. You do NOT go to this bar to develop a buzz. On the bright side, I finished my friend's glass of wine, which wasn't bad. The interior of this Desmond Hotel - there's one in Albany, NY - is classic, very old-money, with accents that I found creepy. From the four-poster beds to the diseased yellow light fixtures, I'd be scared to spend the night here[1]. This hotel isn't my cup of tea, but it might be yours. If I absolutely HAD to stay here, the beds are bouncy, at least. [1] If my friend reads this review, she'll probably crucify me. read more

I'm not sure about the 5-star ratings. Although food was ok, the decor and rooms are very dated. Hallway on 4th floor was almost entirely dark during the daytime because there's really no lights. Room furniture old but the bed was comfortable. I just haven't seen a Hilton like this in many years. read more

A friend's wedding gave me a chance to check out the Desmond. I've been torn on the rating since. When I arrived early, I was able to check out the Fox and the Hound and was far from impressed. However, once I got into Desmond controlled territory - the reception hall, their bar, and the food - the tide turned. Of course, once things wrapped up, checking out the rooms had me down again. There were a few constants: friendly staff and open space. Taking F&H out of the equation, it netted more good than bad, so I figured 4-stars were in order. The brunch was full of a variety of pastries and meat, as well as eggs, cheese and fruit. The lobby has a lot of comfortable seating and a tv. There are also tables and chairs outside and a bar and grill on the first floor. There were some weddings there as well. read more

Terrible Thanksgiving Dinner I cannot believe it I have been here many times. Always good. First turkey tasted like a Jenne O processed meat it was not a real bird shaped oblong with a leg on side (could not believe) NO cranberry sauce, only had cornbread stuffing. Manager made the excuse they had to change menu at last minute due to supply chain problem. Like I buy that, come on no regular stuffing? Salmon was too dry to eat, stuffed shells tasted like they dropped sugar in them and salads were just ok. Signature bread pudding was not like the original. Also mashed potatoes too much butter in them. What was good mashed sweet potatoes and apple pie. I am not a picky eater went to Sage Dinner last nite and had a very good turkey dinner. Today was my first time visiting the Desmond Hotel Malvern, a DoubleTree by Hilton located on Malvern Pa on Route 202. I was impressed by this hotel very much, from the moment I first laid eyes on it and found some good parking (which there was plenty of). The interior is awesome too, it was still decorated for Christmas when I visited. My reason for visiting was for brunch at the Fork & Bottle (which I thoroughly enjoyed but will have a separate review for). This hotel is located right between Route 202 and Route 76 (the Pa turnpike) so it is in a very convenient location and I might have to stop back again next year! read more

New Year's Even dinner was pretty darn good (worthy of 5 stars). Sure, there were only 10 or 12 tables occupied but service was prompt and attentive. Food came out hot and tasted really good (prix fixe menu). Maybe could be dinged for only have four (or five?) choices each for the starters, entrees and desserts but still enough variety. June 2018 my friend hosted her wedding reception at The Desmond and it was absolutely beautiful. The interior lent itself for some beautiful wedding photos. We got ready in the large bridal suite and were provided with tasty snacks & drinks. It seems they had a few wedding parties staying in the hotel the same time as us which was nice to see that its a popular venue for wedding parties. At the end of the night we were able to enjoy the bar in the hotel and go up to our rooms afterwards which was super convenient. The staff was responsive and friendly. I think this is a great venue if you're staying in the area for a special event like a wedding. read more

Me and my family held a luncheon there after a memorial mass for my mom. While the serving staff and bartenders were great, the manager and event planner were terrible. They gave us conflicting information and they did not believe that we would have more than 50 people attend as they were experts at this. They promised us that if more showed up, they could expand the room and add tables. Even when it was obvious there were guests standing because of the limited seating and many offered to leave, the manager said we were fine and that they could not expand the room. So many times we checked and double checked about capacity and were reassured. The management was not the least bit apologetic and just kept telling us that they were experts at this. Tell that to our guests that offered to leave or were standing waiting for people to finish eating so they could take their chairs! Abominable! read more

The staff stole our things out of the frig but have no idea, they took my insulin. I purposely didn't tell them when I called to inquire because I wanted to see if they would tell me my insulin was there. My doctor called in more I have money to purchase more but what if the next person doesn't. Samantha lied, the hotel knows who went in that room. In the insulated bag was a bottle of cheap wine, 3 smart water bottles, wine opener and INSULIN PEN! PAY YOUR STAFF MORE SO THEY DON'T HAVE TO STEAL. The room was dirty, the linens were dingy and the bathroom door won't close unless you practically stand between the tiolet and the sink. You can't use the tiolet unless you leave the door open. We had over 200 couples at the retreat and majority were disappointed. The lady with the accent at that fromt desk was the only nice person. Samantha lied and stole. read more

I had a lovely stay here in May. My room was big, bright and clean, my 4 poster, king bed was ridiculously comfortable and I slept the sleep of the dead each night. I couldn't hear a peep from the rooms around me or the hallway. (I don't understand the reviews that complain about this issue, I either got very lucky for 2 nights or the other reviewers are very light sleepers.) They even left soft, fresh baked cookies and bottled waters for me one day after they cleaned it! No complaints at all, this is a very comfortable, lovely property! read more

I have friends at work who have been here for lunch before. One of them liked it, the other one didn't. The one who didn't told me that he didn't like it because he thought the place smelled like cat pee. Wait a minute... what? A nice hotel like this that smells like cat pee? You gotta be kidding. Why do I even bring this up? Well, I don't really know. But I'll tell you this. I went here on a Monday over a week ago. The place was dead. The hotel didn't have a lot of guests, and the dining room wasn't offering their lunch buffet. I decided to come back later in the week when they were offering it. While there, I noticed something. No, it doesn't smell like cat pee. But it did smell like.... something. I think it's just because the dining room has an old look to it, and there wasn't food out to overpower the smell, that I picked up a noticeable odor. It smells like a grandma's house. And who knows? Maybe my friend's grandma had a lot of cats who peed everywhere, and this place reminded him of it. Anyway, I've digressed so far from the actual experience of eating here for lunch, so let me get to it. I did come back later in the week, the hotel was noticeably busier, which meant they offered their buffet. So I partook for $16.95. And for $16.95 I got what could easily be described as a decent hotel banquet meal. I got a little bit of flank steak, a little bit of fish, some baked ziti, mashed potatoes, some salad, one cup of soup, and some bread pudding. Everything was OK. Nothing made me want to do backflips. i was disappointed that there was only one soup selection. For the price, you have to offer more than just potato leek. I will say that the service was top notch. Attentive in every way, friendly, I was pleased with the staff. The coffee I had at the end of the meal, not too great, and it was an extra 3 bucks. Hotel prices, sheesh! It ain't bad, but with the other much cheaper and tastier eating choices that Malvern and Paoli have to offer, it's safe to say that my trips to the Desmond will be few and far between for lunch. read more

The hotel is receiving extra stars because the staff was super friendly and on top of everything. This includes everyone from the front desk to the courtesy shuttle drivers. I always have to stay here for work as it is one of the only hotels in the area near the office. Some might call this place charming but it actually feels a little icky. Maybe it is my OCD, but the thick green carpet and flowers all over the place are not very appealing to me. I stayed here two nights and it was okay overall. My biggest complaint was that you could hear everyone walking and talking in the hallway, the doors slammed loudly, and the walls were paper thin. This caused my sleep to be interrupted numerous times. I think hotels should generally make the sleeping conditions a top priority. I also found the beds to be very uncomfortable and so high up it was tough for a short person like myself to climb up onto it. If you stay here I highly recommend the brunch at The Hunt Room restaurant. It was a brunch buffet and also had a menu to order from, see the picture I took of the menu. I had a an omelette with cheddar, pepper jack cheese, tomatoes and mushrooms and potatoes to start. Then I ordered a waffle which was a half size, crispy, served with warm syrup and delicious! Then from the dessert station I had apple crisp which was amazing! The bill only came out to $22 per person which I think was a great deal! The staff at the restaurant were very friendly and attentive. All of the hotel staff I interacted with were friendly. The rooms were very clean. The free wifi worked. There was no mini-fridge in the room which is an amenity I would have enjoyed. In the mornings they had complimentary tea and coffee in the lobby. read more

This hotel is the absolute worst. We just stayed here as my daughter's wedding was at a nearby venue and we booked rooms at the Desmond for out of town guests . We also hosted a breakfast the morning after the wedding . To begin with , the bridal suite which we booked for make up and hair was filthy . This room looked as though it had NEVER been cleaned. The bathroom was very dirty and there was no towels, soap , or toilet paper. The room was beyond dusty as well. We contacted house keeping and asked to speak to manager and no one ever showed up . Also for the next morning breakfast , the food was cold , the server was wearing ear buds and talking on his phone when asked a question. The contract was not honored and items promised not delivered. Our guest room had hair in the tub and was also unclean. When contacted , management was patronizing and defensive , rather than supportive and validating concerns. Never again ! read more

They are doing major renovations and did not tell the entire hockey organization that these renovations would be on rooms not only on the floors we are occupying but directly next door. Loud sounds on a Sunday morning along with the smell of paint thru out every floor. Dust and debris on every floor as well as the lobby which is nonexistent. When members of our team asked management for answers there response was we are aloud to work and it was posed on our web site! After that we were asked to leave and they called the police.. Very confused on not only how they get away with this type of business practice but more important how a big chain purchased this hotel and allows it.. read more

So my loving wonderful wife decided to do something nice for me for Father's Day and took me to the Desmond for a Father's Day brunch. It was buffet style with some items you'd need to order from the kitchen but included in the price. I ordered a Belgian waffle, which came out just barely warm. The other offerings, mashed potatoes that had to be from a box, crab cakes barely warm, tortellini in sauce barely warm, you get the idea. The chicken piccata was decent and the marinated flank steak was very good. Oh, did I mention the fruit danish that might have been fresh last Thursday? All of this for $34 per adult. One star for the pleasant server and one for the flank steak. Overpriced and underwhelming. read more

Stay away! The service is terrible. The hotel has a construction going on. When checking in they will not tell you about it. Construction dust all over hallways and rooms. Noise from construction is insane. Front desk attendants are very unprofessional and nasty. Very bad experience. Never again. This hotel has very average showerheads. I judge a hotel based solely on the showerhead and the pressure it provides.

My family and I were looking for a good place to eat and my sister found Desmond on Yelp. I ate here before with my husband and we really enjoyed it. We wanted to dine outside so we went to the sunset grill. My parents are disabled and so I need assistance getting them to our table. They were so accommodating and made sure we had the best seats with perfect lighting and we truly appreciated it. We ordered off the menu and our waiter accommodated this as well. We had a great time and enjoyed our food very much. We will return to try out their other restaurants on site. The only issue was the mosquitoes, but they are pretty difficult to avoid. I had an exceptionally great stay at the Desmond. It is completely refurbished and gorgeous but all the same consistency of the things we live are still there (I.e bread pudding and excellent hospitality!) You can't go wrong with the Desmond. And now you get Hilton point too! Win win!!!! read more

Today were went to Easter brunch here. Disappointment was an understatement. The outside of the hotel is not welcoming and rivals the look of a nursing home. When you enter the dated space and lodge look 1980's dark plaids, green, burgundy and navy. The brunch was recommended to us since our standard Radnor Hotel was booked. The waiter Collin was excellent and attentive that is where the two stars come from. He was on every request which I might add were few. We have brunched at a lot of places in the area, and the city where we live. This was and will be the last time we go here. As we arrived to the table promptly at 1130 the waiter came over to explain that the brunch was in the room off the dining space. One caveat was that if you wanted kids menu options and omelet stations those are in a completely different location. This is preposterous especially when you desire your brunch to be hot. The brunch options were standard fare bacon, sausage, French toast, breakfast potatoes, also on buffet was a few seafood options that not only did not look appealing and was swimming in sauce and warm at best. You could have ordered hotcakes, waffles and eggs benedict however that came from the kitchen. This setup was not good. The omelet station was in a different room where two chefs made fresh to order omelets and seemed popular except for the wait while your protein options were waiting cold at your table. There were two carved meats including Ham and filet of beef. Both of these options were tough, hard to cut with a steak knife. There were a good deal of bread options but not appealing. The presentation was lacking. The garnish of whole vegetables was a lazy way to spruce up the buffet. The dessert buffet was terrible. If you like over refrigerated desserts that when they hit the table they are all covered with wetness from condensation. Ill pass on the wet cream puffs and éclairs. The cheesecake was room temperature. All in all an epic fail! Display was lackluster and definitely not worth the price paid. Stay away if you want a beautiful family experience with elegance and a delicious meal. If you desire to take your family out for wet cold food and over pay than run on over. This buffet is just OK. Overall the value was nil. In all we paid 32.00 for 4 mimosas and still paid 56.00 pp. This buffet did not include the gratuity like the other Easter brunch that we have head including the DuPont CC, Springfield CC, and our favorite Radnor hotel. Perhaps a piano player or something nice to add a intimate special touch. Sorry Desmond.... you need an update and a class in elegance..... read more

I am only rating the facilities for conferences/banquets. I stayed in a different (cheaper) hotel overnight while attending a conference here. The facilities themselves are 4 star and the hotel provides a variety of room sizes and configurations for meetings. However, the plated meals were absolutely bland and awful. Chicken was dry and bathed in a (jarred) marinara sauce and an overly sweet balsamic reduction. Brown and wild rice was overly salted - to the point of inedibility. The best thing? Steamed asparagus. Cheesecake for dessert was frozen for sure. Gives a whole new meaning to the "rubber chicken" dinner. In the mean time, the meetings themselves were fine - and water/cold drinks were provided for during breaks. No major issues, but based on the food I sure as heck would NOT have my wedding here. Or any other event where guests want GOOD tasting food. read more
