We've eaten here three times now and I wanted to taste a few things before I made a review.... First thing I noticed is that this is Japanese restaurant has sushi, teppanyaki and Indonesian food. My gut tells me that the owner is actually Indonesian. The first time we were here, Jon tried the poke (which was marinated tuna on a bed of salad). It was ok. We have now tried both the miso soup and the onion soup. We were not a fan of either one. The onion soup has a very strong bonito flavor to it. The miso soup doesn't have any miso in it. So odd. If you study the menu, ALL Special sushi rolls besides two rolls has cream cheese in it. I'm not a fan of cream cheese, so I chose to try the two non- cream cheese rolls on two separate occasions. I'm super happy to report that both the Rosa Roll and the soft shell crab roll were fantastic! Jon had the Izzy roll and he liked it. I didn't care for the chiso drizzled sauce but the rest of his roll was tasty. Jon also previously tried their sashimi salmon. Pieces were a good size and the quality was very good. This "newer" restaurant had some updating done prior to opening the restaurant , but after six months open, there are holes in the booth seats in the back. So weird. Oh. Don't order the green tea.... One would think they should serve Japanese green tea or matcha tea.... But no.... It's Tetley (British) green tea!

Fresh, delicious and well presented. Fast and friendly service. Clean establishment.

Hibachi grilled filet minion including fried rice.

Nice place and always friendly. We've had several rolls here, the teriyaki, and hibachi. Haven't tried the nigiri yet. The food is really good, we will continue coming here.

We loved our experience when we came. The food was delicious and the service was great. Definitely our new favorite place to eat in Sequim!

We were looking for another place when we accidentally stumbled on Koto. We are really glad we tried them. You can order at the counter or at the table and a robot brings you your food. Very fun. The spicey teriyaki and regular teriyaki as well as the boba were all very tasty. Clean, fast, and yummy. We will be back.

The orange chicken is just red sweet n sour sauce with a bunch of sad vegetables and a couple of tiny orange pieces. did not taste like orange, tasted like sweet and sour chicken. The fried rice tasted like nothing but pepper-- like no soy sauce no salt, no oil, just pepper. The salad was just lettuce and the dressing was not blended well and granular still from the sugar. The chicken teriyaki was the only thing that tasted remotely like it was supposed to, although the chicken needed to be grilled a bit more. This is not a place I would ever try their sushi, because this meal was just so bad. we cant finish our food. no chance they could make sushi correctly after what I just received.

I waited about 35 minutes to receive my food. Would I have liked to receive it sooner? Yes, but I could tell the kitchen was working hard and it was busy. They did what they could I got an 8.00 Sake Maki role and the Nebeyaki Udon soup dish to compliment the rainy and moody weather The sushi roll wasn't anything special. Salmon, rice and seaweed, you really can't go wrong! I'm going to to come back and try other rolls cause the sushi here looks delicious The soup was full of Sweet and savory ... It definitely had that umami flavor but the shrimp and egg were very overcooked. The soup was boiling hot when I received it, the egg was hard boiled, not poached and the shrimp tempura was tough and rubbery. The variety of ingredients impressed me though. The fish cake, fried tofu, mushrooms, and pea crisps were delicious and flavorful! I would get this dish again, because it truly did taste good, I just wish they'd out the shrimp and egg into the broth later so that they didn't come out overcooked. Loved the vibe here, food was good.. this place has a good thing going!

I cannot give this fine restaurant enough stars. I've been frequenting Ryu Nakano's sushi…read morerestaurants for many years and it's some of the best sushi I've ever had. We reserve well in advance and mostly sit at the sushi bar. The space is on the smaller side but I've seen hopeful walk-ins be seated (I've also seen many turned away--I suggest reservations.) Service has always been stellar. We normally enjoy a salmon flight, a tuna flight, the kelp-cured scallops (must be ordered in advance) and whatever else strikes our fancy or Nakano-San recommends. It's always spectacular! I find the nigiri to be just about perfect--just enough rice to offset the fresh taste of the fish. There is plenty on the menu beyond sushi but we admit to coming here for one reason only so I can't speak to much else (although the green salad is very nice, as is dessert.) Plenty of wine, cocktail and sake options. I remember the many years we didn't have a sushi restaurant in downtown Edmonds so I never take an evening here for granted. We are fortunate to have Nakano-San as a part of our community. Check it out if you haven't yet, and enjoy!

I would say that many parts lived up to the high praises while others did not unfortunately :( The service was amazing! The staff were very attentive and kind. We were seated quickly and were not left waiting long for any part of our dinning experience which was very nice. We both got 2 portions of the 11 piece omakase ($53) and the great pacific northwest roll ($20) to share. The omakase offered good variety and came with an explanation of each cut of fish which was nice. We both enjoyed everything just fine but were left a little disappointed with the quality. Because of all the great reviews and the price point, I think we just were expecting to enjoy our meal much more than we did. The fish quality was not poor by any means but just not that good. The roll also lacked a bit of flavor as well :( I don't know if we just went on an off night or not, and I am hopeful that might be true. The ambiance was nice and balanced, the tables were spaced apart well, making the hum of the restaurant nice but not too much. I don't think we would be back due to the overall quality of our meal but it think it is worth a stop if you are craving sushi in the area.
