Have been here twice and also purchased from them on Discogs. Great shop, easy browsing. Great new and used selection. Hit it up, you won't walk out empty handed(prices are average).

It's a good store and if I'm in the area, sure, I'll stop in. But the prices are seemingly very high.

By far one of the best record stores I've visited in Seattle. The shop itself is well decorated, the music they play is well-picked, and the staff was friendly and helpful. They have a wide selection of newer vinyls, but used ones in good condition as well. They don't overcharge too much and sell a few other useful things (LP covers, slip mats, vinyl cleaning solution, cool merch, magazines etc.). Will definitely be a regular here.

I was a bit early for a dinner engagement elsewhere in Ballard and thankfully the rain let up for a bit! (11/21/17) So I decided to walk over to Sonic Boom to kill some time. Smallish store with a low key, chill counter person. Wandering around, this shop may be tiny, but it is packed full of variety in the used and new CDs and even vinyl! I bought two new CDs from Halsey and Mark Lanegan Band. The latter from the founder of Screaming Trees and was featured in the recent Anthony Bourdain Parts Unknown Seattle episode on 11/19/17.

I walked in expecting to hunt for a set of records on my list, but there was a group of people blocking a section i wished to view. At first I was mildly frustrated, but then realized I was now in the crowd of a small concert. Live music and restricted sections made me look a bit harder in the areas not blocked. I found a wonderful album behind the register that I've never seen in person for a reasonable price. Excellent place, excellent atmosphere, and plenty of music!

Great local business with a huge section. This is one of the great record stores of Seattle. If they don't have what you want, they can get it. I bought my favorite Agalloch album here. Fuck Amazon and big box places, SHOP LOCAL!

just moved to Seattle over the summer, and I've been trying to get to know my local record stores... I went from having 1 to having approximately a thousand. But I went to Sonic Boom for the second RSD drop this year and loved it. They were super friendly, organized, and COVID safe, and they dropped a few goodies into my bag along with my absolutely epic Brandi Carlile/soundgarden record. Definitely coming back as soon as I can!

I am happy I did because I found some really cool 7inch singles here (see photos) to bring back home to Austin with me. Walking in to Fat Cat Records I immediately loved the vibe in here. It really feels like you are walking into a friends top-of-the-hill apartment to hang and look through their record collection in a super welcoming place. I really loved the overlook down off the street and neighborhood of N. Stone Way. You will find cassettes, CDs, 45 singles, books, and all mediums amongst new and collector's issues and selections. You definitely want to come in here and be curious because you WILL find something unique. Here is what I found and brought back: - I Got You Babe by Sonny and Cher (45 single) - Only the Lonely by Roy Orbison (45 single) -Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree by Brenda Lee (45 single) - King Tut by Steve Martin - a rare Modest Mouse 7inch (white vinyl) Pricing is excellent for what I got and everything was fantastically in good shape especially for the ones I found that are from the 1950-1960s. Many of the singles had typed out/inventory markings on them too which makes me wonder where they were before showing up to this cool record store?!?! My friend got some pretty rad and rare vinyl too! Everyone was super impressed by the selection they had here. This record store will be a must when I come back again next year for conference things.

Plus always great for browsing, has friendly & knowledgeable staff, plus free stickers. Driving from Fremont to Wallingford, I noticed their signage along Stone Way N. Sure enough they relocated there in November. And big bonuses arw that they niw have a dedicated parking lot and much more room to grow. Me and The Homie stopped by on 12/16/23, during the last hour before closing time. The Homie found some vinyl gold, as did I, a cool item with The Chvrches for $4.99. Later, I find it was going for up to $50 elsewhere online.

The films I checked out were The Visitors and Cast a Deadly Spell (part of the H.P. Lovecraft series) both perfect picks that I never would've stumbled on through an algorithm. Not to mention, there is a HUGE array of specialty and genre-specific films that can only be found on Blu-ray and/or DVD. And that's before you even get to the VHS and Laserdisc sections, which are very much alive and well here. The staff is friendly, welcoming, and warm, and they clearly enjoy where they work. I personally love their custom system of film organization sections broken down by theme, country, and some genuinely inspired niche categories that you won't find anywhere else.
