Georgetown Records: A Hidden Gem for Vinyl Lovers…read more Nestled in the heart of Seattle's artsy Georgetown neighborhood, Georgetown Records is more than just a record store--it's a cultural heartbeat with serious soul. From the moment you step in, you're welcomed into a haven where fair trade practices meet crate-digging nirvana. What sets Georgetown Records apart isn't just its ethical sourcing (though that's a major win). It's the curated selection of rare, hard-to-find vinyl spanning genres and decades--each crate a treasure trove for seasoned collectors and new audiophiles alike. Whether you're chasing obscure jazz pressings, punk bootlegs, or global folk gems, the staff here know their wax and are eager to guide you. And the vibe? Unmatched. Located in the Georgetown neighborhood--a hotbed of creativity and industrial charm--the shop is surrounded by galleries, coffee spots, and vintage curiosities. It's the perfect pitstop for a weekend wander or an impromptu record hunt. Ethical. Eclectic. Electric. Georgetown Records delivers on all fronts.

Like every indie vinyl shop, there's always treasure to be had. Enjoyed seeing the various world titles, variety of nostalgic bric-a-brac, vinyl for every price range, plus really friendly upbeat staff. I ended up with two records from Donna Summer and Rick James. Not a popular genre for some, but I love disco! And who didn't dig such a catchy tune, Super Freak?! It was such a score and ended up being quite the economical purchase versus the mocha I drank afterwards.

I would not recommend anyone go to this dilapidated and horrid place. The lady who runs the store…read morewas astonishingly rude to my grandmother, who is 70 years old, very kind, and just a bit slow. I understand that people can come under pressure and stress sometimes, but not only is this place never busy--so I don't know where any of that would be coming from--but you should NEVER be rude to your elders. That's a golden rule. My grandma was just trying to send a package to Vietnam but was having trouble, and even though my brother was there to help her, it was still confusing because the lady spent more time yelling at them for being "unprepared" and "wasting her time" (again, when the store never gets much business lol); she was also aggressive with her coworker, who was moving around some boxes. They were yelling at each other a lot. Anyway, there are other places you can go to if you need to send packages, buy CDs/DVDs, or buy Vietnamese medicine. You do NOT need to give this horrible place your money or time.

I am happy I did because I found some really cool 7inch singles here (see photos) to bring back home to Austin with me. Walking in to Fat Cat Records I immediately loved the vibe in here. It really feels like you are walking into a friends top-of-the-hill apartment to hang and look through their record collection in a super welcoming place. I really loved the overlook down off the street and neighborhood of N. Stone Way. You will find cassettes, CDs, 45 singles, books, and all mediums amongst new and collector's issues and selections. You definitely want to come in here and be curious because you WILL find something unique. Here is what I found and brought back: - I Got You Babe by Sonny and Cher (45 single) - Only the Lonely by Roy Orbison (45 single) -Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree by Brenda Lee (45 single) - King Tut by Steve Martin - a rare Modest Mouse 7inch (white vinyl) Pricing is excellent for what I got and everything was fantastically in good shape especially for the ones I found that are from the 1950-1960s. Many of the singles had typed out/inventory markings on them too which makes me wonder where they were before showing up to this cool record store?!?! My friend got some pretty rad and rare vinyl too! Everyone was super impressed by the selection they had here. This record store will be a must when I come back again next year for conference things.

I used to do all my shopping online but after I found Fat Cat I would rather go in and browse in person anyway. Everybody's friendly and it feels good to walk into a legit Seattle-local shop - reminds me of being a teenager when everything wasn't so fussy. This is just a real, down-to-earth shop that cares about it's customers and has an amazing selection. I can get anything from Hip Hop to Jazz to Metal and everything in between. Plus the selection and quality they've got is the best value for money compared to other "local" shops nearby. If you miss hanging out at a neighborhood record store that doesn't feel like a start-up, this is the place to go. Local, knowledgable and helpful people with an amazing selection. Can't go wrong.
