I ordered their chicken strip meal (#11) via car hop; it took a bit for the meal to be provided (there were a few people who were given their orders that drove away behind me); no issues with that as I could have just parked in a spot and ordered. That's what they have them for and the people behind probably ordered slushees or whatever. The chicken strips and tater tots were tasty and their Dr.Pepper tasted very nice. It wont be often when I actually write a review on any fast food restaurant, since fast food has never been my thing. Just the mere thought of it kind of turns my stomach. I honestly cannot remember the very first time I went to a Sonic. Most likely it was on one of my lay-overs when I was flying. Up until last year, I had lived in Washington state all of my life and when Sonic arrived there, you would have thought it was the second coming. There was one location in Bonney Lake, the other was in Puyallup. Once those opened, you would have to wait in endless lines. It was crazy. I did not try them until they quieted down which was literally months later. The first location that I tried was the Sonic in Bonney Lake. I had a cheeseburger. I ( DO NOT) eat fries, Ever. The burger was good, but I noticed it was kind of cold. LOTS of mustard, Months later, I tried the Sonic in Puyallup, and remembered the excessive mustard on my previous trip so I ordered a cheeseburger easy on the mustard. So, that was taken care of and I thought it was peculiar that the burger was once again pretty cold. Again decent flavor though and the ingredients seemed pretty fresh not weighed down with excessive grease. Just this weekend, I had dropped my step son off at the airport, and did quite a bit of shopping nearby. I had not expected time to pas me by so quickly while shopping and before I knew it I was famished. I went to the Sonic that I saw and ordered my typical cheese burger. ( Yes, not so adventurous ) Anyway, it had been such a long time since I had eaten there that I did not even think to say easy on the mustard. Well, let me tell you, when I bit into the burger it was as if a mustard bomb exploded. I even tasted mustard on my lips the following day. ( No joke ) On top of that the burger was pretty cold. Could barely believe it that all three different Sonics served their burgers kind of cold. I highly doubt I will ever go there again. If you do, please remember to tell them easy on the mustard and that you would prefer the burger served warm. read more

I had never been to Sonic before and didn't realize that it's drive-in only, but that was my fault and not theirs. The food was pretty good. There was a little too much sauce on the burgers (I recommend taking it home to eat or else you might make a big mess in your car, especially with kids). I really liked the tater tots - nice and crisp on the outside and nicely seasoned, not too salty. The sundae was great, too. The drive in thing was cool. A miracle! - Tater tots are awesome, but if you have a hearty appetite you need to get at least a large. Sonic has pretty reasonable portion sizes for fast food -- it's made to enjoy, not gorge. - Whether to tip your sonic carhop or not is a pretty divisive issue. I usually fall in the camp of change or no tip unless it's raining/extremely hot/they do tricks on the skates/other extraordinary circumstances, but you're okay no matter what you decide. - The whole menu is available all day. I think it is funny; after years and years of seeing Sonic commercials, Minnesota finally gets some locations! Now that one is located near my house, my boyfriend and I decided to give it a try. This was my first encounter with the fast food restaurant, and really, it wasn't too bad. I didn't really know what to expect, I've seen the commercials, and yes, sometimes they seemed a bit appetizing, I still was unsure of the whole experience. We drove up and parked in one of the drive in slots. Then we ordered, I had the grilled chicken sandwich with tots! TOTS! Not bad, it has been a really long time since I've had tots so I was really excited. The food took about 5-10 minutes to come out to our car.. It was delivered by some dude rollerblading around. Good god, that must suck to have to work and blade at the same time. Overall, the food was just OK.. I mean, it was good for Fast Food and all, but it was OK. I like the fact that they have big slices of bread instead of buns.. that's a nice touch. I wasn't too keen on the whole drive up and sit in your car type of place, but we ended up just getting our food and bringing it home anyways. The people working seemed to be having fun. They were younger teens who were all seeming to get a long with each other.. That's nice to see! I would probably go back sometime.. I used to live in Atlanta where Sonic was a little more prevalent, so I was re-visiting when I went the other day. Sonic Burgers taste like the cheap burgers they get in huge boxes to unload at company picnics, and the rest of the food pretty much follows the same path. There is one item on the menu that continues to deliver and that is the sausage and egg breakfast wrap. You might be tempted to get the upscale breakfast burrito (it has jalepenos and other items in it), but don't do it, it's a trick. The simplicity of sausage, egg, and tortilla with the salsa they provide hit the spot anytime you are in the mood for a quick breakfast. Other than that, the only reason to go to a Sonic is for the drinks. With ehat seems like millions of choices, they have a beverage for everyone and the flavors are all good. Cherry Limeaid is arguably their signature drink, but the slushes and shakes are very good as well (If they still had the peanut butter hot fudge shake they used to serve in Atlanta, I'd give them another star). read more

While I'm a huge fan of the strawberry limeade, I have to say that I enjoy the drive in experience. It's sort of fun to sit in your car and have a burger. Also the food is fairly tasty. It's not someplace you should go on an everyday basis, but when you feel like splurging. The service is friendly and efficient. Sadly, they weren't on roller skates, but that's OK. I love coming here for their 1/2 shakes; it brings to the total for two shakes to under 5$ which is a really good deal. The ice cream alone is pretty tasty, but when you start adding flavoring, that's where it gets out of hand. I always feel that they add way too much flavoring and it settles at the bottom of your cup. As you near the end of your ice cream treat it's an awful taste of ass (excuse my French) flavored syrup and ice cream. Sonic is a lot more popular in Phoenix where I lived most of my life. Minneapolis doesn't really have the same drive-thru culture you find there so fast food is more limited than I'm used to. The fact that there are only 3 Sonic locations near the city and all are in the far reaches of the suburbs is the reason this is my first try at a Sonic since moving to Minnesota 4 years ago. And I found out that Minnesotans don't get it at all. The line for the drive-thru was around the building but there were a ton of open stalls. Sonic regulars will know that the stall is the easiest and fastest way to get your order in and your food out. Why would you waste time and gas sitting stalled in line when you can park in a shaded stall and have everything brought out to you? Since I didn't eat my cheese tots and burger on Texas toast at the location and had to drive 6 miles back home, it wasn't the best flavour that I've had at a Sonic. Also, I got a cherry limeade and ordered "extra cherries" like I always do but they somehow interpreted that as extra cherry flavouring and there were NO cherries. Half the reason I enjoy the cherry limeades so much is the stem-on marichinos that are supposed to come with it. It's hard to give a bad review to a chain that doesn't really have a place here, because you can't expect a lot and the food wasn't a-typical or bad. I just wish Minneapolis would get with it when it comes to drive-thrus. read more

That happened on 11/7/21 and I'm still getting the run around to get my money back. I have called corporate headquarters and the store itself. Still waiting. We love Sonic. We discovered Sonic during our frequent vacations in Texas and were excited to see it spread into the Twin Cities. We were one of those families waiting in line for a chance to visit the first Twin Cities Sonic in St. Paul, and now that we have one closer to our home we end up stopping in at least once a month. I think the best fast food meal I've ever had is their foot long dog, tater tots and a hot fudge sunday. The foot long hot dog had good cheese and chili, and the beef itself tasted better than what I could make. I'd take it any day over a burger. I stop here from time to time to get food, but I don't think I'll be stopping by again. It was snowing and I wanted to get some food after grocery shopping so I stopped at this Sonic. Only the drive thru was open, but that's not a problem. I get in line and it's taking forever, but finally I get to the order thing. The voice on the other end speaks up and asks me if I can wait a second to place my order. Not a problem. What is a problem is that I was still waiting by the order kiosk ten minutes later, snow falling through my window, and when I finally gave up and drove off there wasn't even anyone at the window. Everyone in front of me had been served, and the person either forgot or didn't care enough to take my order.
