It's fast food. I go for the Chicago dogs more than anything. I have yet to find a place in Columbia that has a better Chicago Dog... Love them! Burgers are better that lots of the alternative fast food places. I am so disappointed in Sonic's service and food. I had a simple order of mozzarella sticks and jalapeño poppers and when I received it all I got was mozzarella sticks and mini cheese bites. It's really not hard to put the jalapeños in with the cheese. I brought my son there for the first time hoping to show him a great American fast food restaurant and he was very let down by his experience there. Not only does this make me look bad to him as a father it looks bad to your franchise. I'm very upset and frustrated with sonic and will NEVER be returning there again read more

Usually the other Sonic locations in town are pretty good for their late night selections for someone who works graveyard shift like me but this one is absolutely terrible during the late night hours! The orders are constantly wrong, the food is very nasty and it has ben pretty obvious that the have re-dropped their fries and tater tots into the deep fryer possibly two or three times. The late night customer service is reprehensible and atrocious, talking back and being sassy when I tried to correct my order. Will not be visiting this particular Sonic anytime soon. read more

Mediocre at best. I've had multiple service issues with this location. The food has been okay but service is always subpar. Most recent was a purchase of a bag of ice... They asked me to pull forward to the waiting area. I was okay with this as it was a fairly busy Saturday night. I watched my rear view mirror for the arrival of my bag of ice. While waiting and watching, I noticed the young gentleman rub my bag of ice all over a female coworkers rear end. C'mon now.... That's just not clean. Other most recent service issue, the refusal to participate in a Sonic nationwide offer. I had received a text saying all locations had a one day only deal. The Assembly Street location refused to offer the deal. When I called corporate, they said it was nationwide and she didn't know why one location would refuse the deal. Worst customer service in Columbia. My boyfriend and I ordered 3 things from the drive through last night. He wanted a small order of jalapeño poppers, and a medium order of chili cheese tots. The employee read this order backwards, they said "you want a medium order of jalapeño poppers, and a small tots" so my boyfriend corrected them. Then the employees gave the total and told him to drive around when we weren't finished ordering. I really wanted to order a hamburger with no mayo, no tomato, add mustard and ketchup but given how hard of a time they had comprehending the first order, I just ordered a chicken sandwich. Because they were less likely to screw that up. After ordering these 3 items they still did not read back our order correctly. They said chili cheese fries instead of tots. So my boyfriend had to correct them again. The employee responded "I said tots the first time" then gave us the total and told us to drive around. When we get to the window we were fully planning to check our order before driving off. They took our payment and handed us a bag and shut their window as if we had everything we ordered. We did not have the tots. My boyfriend got their attention and then they came back with the tots. It seemed like they purposely left those out. I guess they were mad we wanted our order to be correct. More likely they were mad they had to be at work that day and take their frustration out on customers. We won't be going back to this Sonic location. But I'm sure they couldn't care less. read more

I absolutely love this Sonic. I live close by so I frequently stop here for a quick meal or (more often) a late night snack. I've always had fast and friendly service at this particular Sonic, and last summer the carhop even brought me a free extra cherry limeade (without me asking) because it was a hot day! After a long day of classes, I thought that I would celebrate and treat myself to some fast food. It turns out that there is a sonic right across the road from my apartment complex. I rarely eat fast food, but on the occasion, I will grab a bite to eat at one of the local fast food restaurants. I walked across the street around 11 pm to go get some food at sonic. I was excited to get something to eat due to not eating anything until 11 pm. I chose to walk to sonic due to gas prices being so high and the fact that it seemed sort of pointless to drive across the street to eat. It was also interesting to find out that you don't have to drive a car to sonic. It turns out that they have separate ordering kiosks and places to sit for the people that walk up. I previously thought that you had to drive to sonic to eat, due to it being a "drive-in restaurant. "But for the overall situation, I concluded that walking would be the best option for me. The first employee that I interacted with was through the ordering kiosk. This employee was very nice and was joking around with me. The only problem was that there was a lot of people there waiting to order. I personally enjoyed the friendliness and the jokes, but I think that the employee should have moved on to the next group of individuals waiting to order. I thought that this employee was very nice and seemed to be enjoying her shift. There was one more employee that came and brought me my food. This employee came out of the kitchen with my food with some haste. He gave me my food and then my change within 30 seconds. The employee then made sure that I had all the things that I needed and ran back to the kitchen to grab me some sauce for my food after I asked him for some. I was very impressed how this employee moved with a purpose and seemed to be enjoying his job. I received my four corn dogs and shake within a 5-minutes after ordering. All the corn dogs were cooked to a nice golden brown. The food was delicious and the smoothie was great too! The environment was very interesting with everything being outside and with the music that they played through the outside speakers. The overall service was nice and I was impressed with how well the employees were working that late at night. My sonic experience was great overall. I knew going into it that I would not be getting a 5-star meal. So, I took it for what it was and enjoyed the experience. The food was a little heavy on the stomach due to all the grease, but that is expected from a fast food restaurant. The service was great, the food was good, and the environment was cool. I think that this Sonic provides a unique experience for its customers and creates a "retro diner" experience to the fast food restaurants in this area of Columbia. read more

I would give this Sonic 0 stars, but it won't let me. First off, the service was horrible. I ordered a #1 combo (probably the most basic item on the menu), and it took over 15 minutes for my order to arrive. Secondly, a rowdy group of drunk college girls were making a scene in the parking lot. The managers seemed to be dealing with the issue, but rather than telling them to calm down, they joined in on the conversation. The girls, in their inebriated stupor, did mention an important point. I heard them yell, "why the fuck aren't y'all on rollerblades?!". The rollerblades were a universally recognizable trademark of sonic, and I am sad to see them go. In retrospect, I think the removal of the rollerblades are the root of Sonic's problems. It takes more time and energy for employees to walk food out opposed to whipping around the parking lot in groovy rollerblades. I believe that the lack of rollerblades is having profound effects on Sonic's business. You just lost another loyal customer. Sad! read more

It's great for cheap food on the go and the menu has more variety than just burgers and fries. Staff is usually friendly and a big plus is it's open 24/7. A downside- if you go after 10pm or so be prepared to wait for a very long time to get food. Very much a college place at this location. read more
