I'm happy they opened a new Sonic here in Lathrop. I will say they need more staff with experience, patience and who know how to handle situations under pressure. Customer service is very important being in the fast food industry. It seems like they just hired teenagers or adults who don't know to properly speak to paying customers. My last experience here a lady at the window literally spoke to another employee to come and tell me something because "she didn't know how to say it"...It was very odd being that your serving customers but don't know how to speak to them? Lol..I completely understand it's a new location and they just opened but that's a even more reason to hire proper staff so that it's a successful opening. I've never been a fan of Sonic, but with this new location down the street, my kids wanted to give it a try.. FIRST VISIT: Came in around noon for lunch. Driving in is kind of confusing. The entry/exit does not align with the drive thru line, so you HAVE TO read the floor writing. They should have a sign at the entry, but alas.. We used the drive thru, which was short. It moved quick, however once we got to the front we got someone else's food and the wrong drinks. The girl at the window was very apologetic and fixed the issue in under 2 minutes. My husband and 1 of the kids enjoyed the food. My self and other kid did not. SECOND VISIT: Came around 7pm on a Saturday to try the desserts. The drive thru line was out to the street, but it moved very quickly. The lady taking our order was very peppy and nice. Our Blasts were REALLY GOOD! Packed with the toppings we requested. My family loves Sonic so we frequent this location since it's less than 5 minutes away from our house. The location is clean and busy sometimes. The food is always good and hot and the customer service is usually fast and friendly BUT sometimes they'll forget a food item so ALWAYS double check the bag to make sure you have everything that you ordered and payed for. read more

I was so excited to give this place a try because after years of the same fast food in the area, I needed something else. Went there on a weekday in the afternoon (2pm-ish), and ordered the premium burrito meal. It took some time for someone to take my order and a little more time for someone to come collect my money. Not a huge deal; I am patient. The order on the screen was correct and the server who collected my money verified my order and it was correct. However, when the food came out, it was wrong. Got a cold coffee instead of a hot coffee and they gave me the basic burrito. I'm not gonna cry (too much) about getting a basic burrito instead of the premium I paid for, but my taste buds were super disappointed. Things happen and it's not enough for me to hate this place. Would rather give a 0 for service! Didn't know this location was even open, so we drove by and were excited to see it was. We came at 9pm, waited in the drive thru for 15 mins, and then saw a stall open so we pulled in, the rude employee said very loudly to her coworker how she was pissed we pulled in and said "damn another car I'm trying to close this spot already!", and proceeded to walk by and give us a dirty look. Then took the orders of all the cars around us, and even after another 15 mins still didn't take our order. So after 30 mins we left. I get this location just opened, but if this is the service they provide I'll take my business back to Ripon. read more

We waited in line for 15 minutes to reach the drive thru order screen for an annoyed employee to say "what do you want" and after we had asked for the 2 for $5, they kept charging us full price for items. We asked again, nicely, hey we wanted the 2 for $5 and after her saying "WHAT??" for the third time, we again asked louder for our order. They remained silent and changed our order somewhat on the screen (so they heard us) but it still isn't what we asked. They remained silent so we drove off. came here one night and parked in the stall, i placed an order and received my items. i wanted something else so i ordered once again and received my items once again. i wanted a slush for the way home so i placed an order again and received that as well. Point is.... I've been coming here since they've opened for family dessert night. My wife has a severe gluten allergy and they have always accommodated. Tonight I asked for the usual Reese's blast unblended because of cross contamination. They refused to give me a cup of ice cream with the topping on the side or even unblended.
