I have to say that all the servers are great, they hustle and are friendly. The kitchen however... Lately not sure what's happening. Our simple two cheeseburger order came out with toppings all wrong. Ordered a Dr Pepper and it tasted terrible! I asked for a diet coke instead and it was better but still not mixed right. Visited this Sonic because I was feeling hungry. I went inside and ordered some chicken and a slushee. It was late night, so I was the only person in the queue for food. The food came fast and the chicken was enjoyable. There were no problems with customer service, but the slushee was a bit bad. It was hardly mixed and there were some parts of solid in it. It wasn't smooth at all, it felt like I was eating something through a straw. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt however - it was late night and it might've just been an accident. read more

So it all started one night when we ordered dinner as a family. Everyone got their food except one of us and then it took about an hour for them to come back with one sandwich. But oh! It gets better. Outside of the Sonic there are actual rats running around like its a playground when it gets dark outside. Usually this place ok (Springfield Ave, Newark) and I don't really go there often so i don't have horror stories like someone who might go there more often, but there always seems to be some kind of drama nevertheless. There's always some knucklehead in the drive-thru that has an attitude and holds up the line or chatting up the cashier like they don't know there's a conga line in back of them! When the drive thru line is long a cashier comes outside and brings your food to you and gets your payment the problem is I don't trust my credit card out of my sight. So last night that scenario happened to me. I got my food curbside, gave cashier my credit card reluctantly and when he came back he gave me the card BUT NO RECEIPT. I asked for my receipt and he says "oh um the credit card machine is down so my 2 foot longs are on the house". I was so thankful and left. When I got home on a hunch I went online to look at my recent purchases on my credit card to see if "free" was really free. Low and behold, not only is there a charge from Sonic for that food but there are TWO CHARGES for the same 2 hot dogs! I flew back over there to confront the little thief and as soon as he saw me he already knew and started apologizing! Refunded my money as I threatened to call corporate office. I have been at many other sonic and I love the food, and the costumer service is good. My friends and I went to sonic at 237 Springfield ave newark. There was a long line and I was aware of it. The guy taking the orders at the night shift was very rude with us reminding us about the line constantly. Also, at the end of our order we asked him to change the size of the French fries from small to medium and his answer was "you should have told me at the beginning". He was making constant sighs as if he was bothered and sucking his teeth. Then we asked to speak with the manager to witch approached with a rude attitude. Eventhough she apologized at the end, she was rude and you could tell that she didn't care about what we were telling her when we expressed and explained the situation and rudeness from the guy who took our order. read more

We enjoy sonic, particularly because there 24 hrs and satisfy our late night ice cream cravings. Anytime after their after 10 the drive thru has a crazy line, but we chose to wait. Yes we really wanted an ice cream cone! So 20 mins later we get to order 2 vanilla cones please! Sonic: hold on let me see if we have any more cones Us: n/p.....5 mins later Sonic: thanx for choosing sonic what can I get for you? Us: 2 vanilla cones Sonic: oh yea, lol we don't have anymore cones Us: damn that stinks, ok can we have a chocolate hazelnut shortbread Gelato and a peanut butter shake please. Sonic: choc. Hazel-what? Is that one flavor Us: yes I'm reading it verbatim from your menu Sonic: ok and a strawberry shake? Us: no a pb shake, and the hazelnut shortbread Gelato Sonic: ok pull up we get to the window and ask the man to verify our order and guess what yelpers!?! It was wrong, like completely wrong! We clarify things then wait an additional 8 minutes! The kicker is we could see ice cream cones through the window. So I ask: Sir are you out of cones? Yes but cake cones only we still have waffle ... I wish we were told that because we would have gotten what we came there for in the first place! The peanut butter shake is thick as all hell but that's fine. The "gelato" is a disgrace! They mixed an absurd amount of chocolate syrup to vanilla ice cream and blended it down to a soup with shortbread garnish. If that's how Sonic does gelato they need not to do it at all! I decided to go to this sonic last night and I'm not impressed. The service was horrible and the food tasted like crap. Not to mention it was cold. I don't know what other places do to their burgers to make them delicious and worth it but Sonic should try it. The best thing about the food was the cherry limeade. That was nothing short of delicious. If they could make the food as good as the drinks, maybe I'd think about going back. read more

Literally waited 10 minutes, no one ever came to the mic and even told us to give them a few minutes. We actually thought our speaker was messed up because we never experienced such bad service. When we looked inside though, we saw the staff laughing and hanging out. They weren't busy, there was one more car there and I counted 4 workers (that I could actually see). So ridiculous. I never really review fast food. Its all pretty standard. However, they went out of their way here. The person before me ordered like $100 worth of food, and while that was backing things up, the nice woman who took my order was running out to cars, taking cash, giving change, and dropping off food. It was ok by didn't really hit the spot like I thought it would. Ordered double bacon cheese burger with everything. When I got home, burger looked very blah. Cheese tots were generic and prep milkshake was around average. Even at Sonics, I've had better. This place is just barely ok. Probably won't go to this sonics again, I'd rather five guys . This was the worst sonic experience ever! First of all, it took about 20 minutes just for someone to take the order. Following this, another 20 minutes later, we got our food and took it home. As if 40 minutes for fast food isnt bad enough, the order was butchered! I ordered a number 12. My food was ice cold. It was supposed to have two sides containing tator tots and onion rings. Pulled in last night got there before 12am to still catch happy hour for the shakes but car in front of me must have known employees cause they talked while me and other cars waited to order. Ended up missing happy hour by like 5 mins. Then when I told that the mozzarella sticks were 99 cents all day June 7th plus showed proof they still told me it's happy hour 2pm-4pm for that. Ordered 6 piece wings and wanted to add another 6 before they started making it the same car In front of me having a good laugh with the drive thru window server. I was told I had to get back in line again to add another 6 piece and don't know if it was the manager in the back yelling co signing everything. I'm never one to make a complaint about an establish because 9 out of 10 times, I move on from the situation. Unfortunately, today my experience at Sonics was not my usual. At the drive thru today, I noticed only two cars was in front which meant this was going to be a quick run. Once I pulled up to the speaker prompt, I was held ten minutes for a simple order. But that wasn't what aggravated me today, it was the condescending tone that I received. The guy taking the order failed to answer a simple question by replying "READ THE MENU" and "I'm very busy can you hurry up!" I cancelled my order and asked to speak to a manager. It wasn't until I spoke to the manager Antonio that I found out it was him taking the order. Not only was he unprofessional taking the order but also with the fact that I addressed the issue. It's unfortunate that he ruined my experience at this establishment because this was a place that I recommended to a lot of my friends. Hope this helped read more
