I've been to Sonics in other states and they are great. At this specific location, we have been waiting over a half hour to get tater tots and a drink. Asked to cancel order and got told "we will be right out". 5 minutes later and still nothing so my mom went inside and we supposedly had to take their word that it is cancelled. Why on earth would anyone come back here?. It's a FAST food restaurant. I could go to a fancy 5 star restaurant and get my food quicker. You guys should not be in service is this is our view of "service". 45 minutes of my life that I will never get back and now we still have to find somewhere else to eat. Not only do they close early (over 40 mins) mostly every single day, but they have poor work ethic and great guests/customers like they are being bothersome. I understand it's not the best job but you have to have some self respect enough to be good to your decent to customers, even if you don't like the job you have to acknowledge the fact you choose to work there, they didn't force you to be in their employ. It was very busy a little bit after dinner time... we placed our order and waited about ten minutes and our roller skater delivered our order. We ordered the Bacon Cheeseburger Toaster sandwich and the the texas toast was uncooked and soggy very unpleasant and they neglected to put bacon on my sandwich. We also ordered 3 different all beef hotdogs: the all american, new york and coney footlong. All of which were delicious... we ordered the super sonic bacon double cheeseburger and it was pretty good. We also had the french fries they were very greasy and cold and stuck together. We ordered onion rings and they neglected to charge us for them and give them to us. The beverages were very peppy and flavorful we had rootbeer and coke. The last item we got was shakes the strawberry cheesecake was awesome with lots of flavor and a strawberry shake which was very thick and delicious. I got a cheeseburger that i thought tasted like McDonalds but a bigger burger. Corn dog tasted good. Service was fast and made sure I got my order right. Soft drinks were good. Shakes were amazingly good. Fries looked like McDonalds but tasted better. Philly cheesesteak tasted nothing like a Philly should taste like The tots tasted good. I had a great experience with this Sonic! I was a bit nervous about going here because of the reviews but I was really craving it. My order came out quickly and accurately. In regards to the employees not coming out on skates as one reviewer mentioned; well the guy came out on skates and he was very friendly and courteous. As for the food, it was great, exactly what I expected, No complaints. I don't know if it matters the time of day you go there but just in case anyone wanted to know I went there around 3pm on a weekday. read more

After placing our order and waiting about 20 mins, it was delivered to our car. Guess what, as usual, there were multiple things incorrect from what we ordered. Might not be so bad if the receipt had actually been followed. We then had issues restarting our vehicle due to dead battery. Asked the manager if anyone had a set of cables we could borrow and was told "you'll have to wait, it is rush hour". Hate to wonder what the response would have been if there was more than the four cars in the pull ups and two in the reive thru. I understand he may have felt it was busy, but it was a simple question that could have been answered in a few seconds. Customer service is how you keep customers. If management does not understand this, maybe they should be moved to a different role. For the way this whole experience was, I will no longer be a customer of this location. read more

There is a first time for everything as I have never been to a Sonics. I ordered a Chicago dog and found it to be pretty good with a nice jalapeno surprise inside. The prices are very reasonable and I feel the quality was fairly decent, I did sense that the sodium level was high but after all it is fast food. Would I go back? I might, I just wouldn't be in a hurry or go out of my way. read more

I know from past experience at the sonic that they are a little slow. The drive-through is always slow. A couple nights ago I waited perhaps 20 minutes? At the drive-through. I saw another customer drive away in disgust. I would've driven away probably if I hadn't paid and I could get around the other cars. me and my friends decided that we wanted to take a trip out to sonic after school and the drive was 45-1 hour since we're from worcester. we got there and the employees were nice. we got our food and my friends both got burgers and i wanted to get french toast sticks. we got our food brought out to us because we parked in the stalls. when i got my food the sticks were hard but i didn't know if that was just because they were fried ? when i got home i realized i didn't feel good at all and ended up getting food poisoning and my friend thinks that they were left out from the morning when they served breakfast!! we went at 4:30pm !! read more

My bf went inside and our food was just sitting there and the girl claims she was bringing it out. My bf brings it to the car and its ICE COLD!! Like my bun just came out of the fridge. I got a milk shake from this place the other day and like every other time before their milk shakes are terrible. To think to drink through the straw, you can taste the Chocolate syrup more then anything is in the milk shake. It's just that, last time I ate there my wife and I both got sick from the food. 7-21-2010 Lunchtime. Came here for the first time today. Walking across the parking lot I enjoyed watching the waiters on skates (who greeted us!). You see there are 3 ways to dine here: Drive-thru, Drive-up (Think old A&W restraunts; hence the skates.) and Sit down inside and soak up some a/c on a hot day. My friend and I chose to sit inside. It was then we were intro'd to a method of ordering that we'd never done IN a restaurant; a telephone to the kitchen! This had mixed results as there was noise on both ends of the conversation so I'm not totally sold on it's execution. I had the #4 combo: 'Toast' cheeseburger w/ bacon. The picture showed an onion ring in the sandwich; which I mysteriously didn't get. :-( Instead I got an ordinary onion. Cool, but not exactly what I ordered either. The meat was cooked perfectly, there was leafy, non-shreaded iceberg lettuce, sauce and bacon on grilled sandwich bread. A massive old-fashioned burger that was a pleasant change from the McD's, BK's of the world. The fries that came with it were pretty ordinary and not of the modern crispy variety sadly. They were more of the 5-Guys burger shop style; old fashioned, but less grease than that chain. Overall, I enjoyed this place as a kind of retro burger stand. For years, Sonic has been our guilty fast-food treat when we're on the road and we were super excited when we heard that one would be coming to the Springfield area! We counted down to opening day, then frequently mentioned it when running down the list of new-places-to-try options, but for some reason, we didn't actually get around to going until last night. I don't know whether this location is just not as good as other Sonics, or whether this was an off night, but... we were kind of disappointed. First, the good. The place looks cool...it has plenty of drive-in spots, interior seating (bonus, especially for this part of the country), and even a drive-thru window. In these respects, I would put it a notch above many of the other Sonics we've been to. But the menu was very hard to read (food menu is to the left, shake menu is to the right; would love it if both would be on both sides just for ease of use), the card swipe didn't work and the server confirmed that they've been problematic, and the food was just not up to usual Sonic standards. The burgers were extremely dry, the buns were smashed like a panini, and the tots left substantial grease residue on everything they contacted. Adding to the tot disappointment was that fact that we forgot to order condiments -- heads up that Sonic is not in the habit of offering them, you have to remember to ask. And when I asked what my drink options were with my combo, and the response was "whatever you want." Annoying. Sonic has a gazillion drinks and I'm sure most of them would bring a significant up-charge; I just wanted to know what I could get with my meal for the price on the board. I asked what they had that didn't have caffeine, and after a significant pause, the answer was "Dr Pepper, Root Beer..." ...and then I cut her off because I knew she had it wrong. I wound up with a lemonade (satisfactory in that it lacked caffeine, but it tasted like a crappy powdered mix). I'm sure I just sound like a cranky and finicky customer, but I promise that's not the case! I don't think I've ever had a single complaint about a Sonic, but this experience was just kind of a string of frustrations...the difficulty reading the menu, fighting with the card swipe, trying to get a combo with a caffeine-free drink, the dry, squashed burgers, forgetting to ask for condiments for tots...it just all added up to a big MEH. I'll gladly update this review if future visits warrant more stars. read more

We always see ads for Sonic in RI, yet the closest location is almost two hours away. While traveling for the holidays we decided to stop off in Springfield and see what all the fuss was about. Old fashioned ordering via phone or to your car by a person on rollerblades. We ate inside. Reminded me of an old fashioned A&W. I ordered a chicken sandwich and husband had a burger. Food seemed fresh and tasted better than typical fast food. The vanilla milkshake was full of flavor. I would go back if we are passing by again. Good choice if needing something fast. read more
