The new menu is a bit disappointing. Somehow ordering biscuits and gravy I'm not allowed to get sausage for breakfast... but can get chicken tenders? It was a little frustrating as our server kept asking "what do you want" after we had to swap meats/sides because it wasn't corrected when she took our order. I don't have the menu in front of me anymore, how would I know? Also you can't order plain pancakes for the pancake deal? Instead of ringing it in under the grandmas plate (like our server said she would), she charged every item individually making it more expensive than the menu deal. The hosts were nice but check out needs some structure. People were waiting in line and as new registers open, the line wasn't recognized and just let people who weren't in line jump ahead. read more

We recently stop by for lunch during our getaway to VT. Convenient location as it's right off I-91. When we were led to our table, the Hashed Brown Casserole Shepherd's pie caught my eyes and I am so glad I went for it. Crunchy hashed brown on top and chucks of roasted beef with the mashed potato, I love it. Hubby got the Southern Fried Chicken and they were tasty. Not to mention the Blueberry Pancakes was a delight with the crispy edges. There was plenty of food as they came with corn bread and biscuit, and we had leftover. Table of 4 ordered 4 meals and a skillet pan of cinnamon rolls. Took 5-10 minutes for the cinnamon rolls to arrive. Than took 40 whole minuets for a mere burger, 2 chicken sandwiches and French toast. I had to go up to an employee to make sure our food was done or if being made at all. I ordered one of those sandwiches and half way thought eating it I was shocked to find out part of it was raw.The chicken sandwich was then on the house. And got mediocre Mac and cheese in place of my partially raw chicken sandwich. Our waiter was super nice about this whole situation and you could tell she felt super bad about the whole situation. It's been a very long time since I have visited a Cracker Barrel, not a fan of chain restaurants to begin with. Today's occasion was upper management was treating the staff for supervisor appreciation week. Six of us were seated pretty easily midmorning mid week. As it approached lunch you could tell it was getting busy so we got in at the right time. Service was good. Our waitress was very pleasant and had a smile on her face every time she checked in on us. She did spill our bosses grits on accident which was funny but she quickly got another bowl for him. Food was good. I had a pancake breakfast with sausage and eggs, no pictures as I dumped my eggs and sausage on my pancake plate to save room on the table. I did notice even though the syrup bottle said 100% pure syrup it was not when you look at the ingredients. Everyone devoured their plates including mine. Overall I still support the idea of supporting local business and avoid coming to places like this. read more

I arrived about 8 p.m. No one seated me. After a while, I grabbed a menu and walked past the hostess station looking for assistance. Was treated like a bit of an interloper...but after telling two different employees that I wished to be seated, they let me choose a table. Seems that because there were only a few patrons, they were not paying attention to the diners and their needs. Waitress was nice and returned a couple of times to take my order as they were out of my first pick. After she brought out the plate, I realized there was no set up, no cutlery. She brought a knife and fork but no napkins. Then disappeared until closing...OK. I know they have a lot to do at closing, but still. Food was decent and warm. I love Cracker Barrels! This one is like the rest of them, which is always awesome. The staff here were really nice. I was with a decent sized group and the wait was 10 min and the service was amazing. I always get the breakfast and it was good. The food came out on time and together which is hard to do for bigger groups. The store was good too and they have the season stuff for the holidays out already. It's fabulous that Cracker Barrel continues to support RVers with overnight parking! I spent the night in their lot and in return, I had a fabulous breakfast in the morning though lighter sleepers might start to notice the traffic noise from Interstate 91. Eggs basted (they don't do poached) with sausage patties and a side of bacon. I'm eating keto so I asked them to keep the biscuits and toast and grits. I'm always hesitant to review chains because I find it hard to have them stand out in any way and write what hasn't been written before. My boyfriend and I are traveling to VT and stopped for breakfast here in Massachusetts. It was a typical breakfast, a cup of coffee, grits, bacon and over easy eggs. You can't really go wrong there. I personally don't like their biscuits and I really don't like their gravy. (I know, I know, im in the minority) to me they're always a little bland and blah. The grits were fantastic though. Service was great like it usually is and the store is all decorated for Valentine's Day and Easter! I refrained myself from purchasing all the cute decor. One of the nice things about this Cracker Barrel, is that it always had a very large open space to sit, so you don't feel like you are in an awkward COVID-inspired seating arrangement with odd plastic dividers and curiously positioned tables to eat at. Even as a chain, the food is pretty decent for brunch. Unfortunately, the menu has not changed over the last 20+ years, because I really would enjoy seeing more gluten-free specials for bread or pancakes, or alt plant based meat options-like veggie sausage patties. I'm glad to see they now carry different flavored coffee drinks, but nobody really goes to Cracker Barrel for lattes do they? If they are going to do breakfast, I really would like to see them include some new options from time. I won't even ask for almond milk in my coffee... The food came out extremely quickly, and our waitress ,Gail, really knew how to be on top of refills and timing of when we might want something else. The cheesy hash brown casserole thing is always very tasty, but make sure you ask them to cook it a little bit longer because it's usually not super warm. For those who might not know, the peaches and apples that go on the waffles and pancakes do come in a very heavy sweetened syrup, so you don't necessarily need maple syrup- there is a lot of sugar in the topping. I do not know if they offer a straight up fresh fruit option like strawberries or blueberries,, I don't remember seeing that, but that would be the way to go over something that tastes like canned peach compote. The bacon is very good bacon according to my son, and he ate everything on his plate. Finally, the store area is indeed a whole separate positive review on its own accord. Always a pleasure eating here. The portions are nicely sized, and the food is always delicious. I ordered the classic chicken fried chicken with sides of biscuits, grits, and steak fries. All absolutely delicious and tender. The only complaint I could make is that the grits were plain without any cheese. For dessert, I also ordered the biscuits beignets. I was initially hesitant that there were biscuit based, but they came out like regular beignets and were soft, fluffy, and deliciously crunchy on the delicate outside. You can not go wrong with Cracker Barrel! One of my favorite restaurants. This is my local one and I've been coming here for years. It always seems to be on point with very few slip ups. The waiters are always so friendly and personable. I will always order the Sunday Homestyle Chicken (available every day now). Crispy and juicy, and they're 2 decent sized pieces to keep me full. Fried apples are so warm and cinnamon-y. Though I'm sad they discontinued the fresh apples still! I'm a huge fan of Moxie, and I've noticed sometimes this location seems to be out of stock. Which can be a bummer if you're a Moxie-fiend like me! I grab a bottle on my way in, and ask for a glass of ice once they take our order. My father got the Country Boy breakfast which is a lot of food!! Never seen him finish it and that man can eat! We also ordered the cheese bites as an appetizer, which are really good. I would not recommend this place to anyone. our food arrived 30 minutes after ordering, the steak was tough and has a burnt flavor, the grill definitely needed cleaning. the chicken tender was overcooked, mac and cheese was unappetizing, Eating here was not a pleasant experience. The place needed cleaning, the restaurant staff was friendly but they need training. I saw workers in the kitchen just talking with garbage on the floor. The place was half empty but the staff was scrambling. There was this tall young male worker who came into the restaurant greeting a family member in a very loud voice, like he owns the place. This was my first time eating at Cracker Barrel and all I have to say is that I'm impressed. The first thing I noticed in the restaurant was the decor and the gift shop with lots of cool things like toys, inexpensive jewelry, and candy! The host seated my boyfriend and I immediately and the waitress was quick to assist us. I ordered the fudge hot chocolate, which turned out to be a cookies and cream hot chocolate since they were out of fudge, biscuit beignets (highly recommended) and country fried steak. My boyfriend ordered the blueberry pancakes (highly recommended). I've tried blueberry pancakes at other restaurants, Cracker Barrel's blueberry pancakes were definitely #1. Other than that, will definitely come here for breakfast/brunch again whenever I'm in Massachusetts. I had just gotten home from a retreat and my wife had a hungry on. I was all right with whatever but she was craving something brunchy. So we decided to head to Cracker Barrel. She has been several times with her friend and finds it a good place because you know the quality and taste you are going to get. We were seated quickly and our waitress, Ashley, was over promptly to take our order. My wife had the hash brown casserole with beef and I ordered the grilled catfish with greens and fried okra. For drinks, she had coffee and I had the strawberry lemonade. Drinks came out immediately and the food came out at the expected pace. Her casserole was ample in portion. It was very cheesy and had plenty of beef. It satisfied her hungry. The coffee was hot and that's what she was looking for. The catfish was good. It was flaky and moist and did not appear to be from frozen. The seasoning and grilling were a little uneven but it tasted fine. The fried okra was crispy but were not seasoned well. As for the greens, you could taste the pork but there also was not much seasoning. Strawberry lemonade was good but a little on the sweet side. Everything was just ok. Ashley was very polite and professional. She was there when we needed her. The atmosphere is what it is. The floors and the tables were clean even though it was busy. So the service was great and the atmosphere was what you would expect. The entrance (the store) is always an issue for me. I understand the concept but we really had to wind our way through to get to be seated. It is really annoying. It would be great if they had a more direct path to get to the restaurant. All in all, this is a chain restaurant and in an effort to offer a consistent taste things often tend to be mediocre. It appeared as if the food was prepared properly but just lacked flavor and seasoning. The price point isn't bad considering how much everything has risen. I don't understand the hype. My family loves stopping here every time we head north. The restaurant is cute, lots to look at. Bathrooms are always clean which is awesome. The store has really nice things that you will want to buy. The waitstaff has always been very friendly and helpful when ordering. Overall the food is good, I think the biscuits and gravy is bland so I don't order those. I ordered the biscuits and gravy once and it was very disappointing. So, we know that not all three star reviews are alike. This is one that supports what the restaurant stands for - unpretentious southern-style cooking at reasonable prices in a chain restaurant. With a cute little country store to boot. We stopped by on a holiday when our choices were limited. You should know that my kids (all teens) loved it. Two of them ordered breakfast for dinner and the french toast and pancakes they got were spot on. Note to self - breakfast/brunch at this place is probably a decent bet. The fried catfish was also surprisingly good as well. The fries that came with it -- so so. And the apples were described by my daughter as a "gelatinous mess". Probably pretty accurate. Skip them. I got the Cracker Barrel Sampler - meatloaf (not bad), chicken & dumplings (decent) and sugar maple ham ("our most popular!" said the waitress cheerfully). With a platter, I got three sides too. Each has their plusses and negatives but for less than $10, I thought it was a good version of hospital cafeteria food. Dining companion got the chicken fried steak. Was hoping for better but for a few bites, it wasn't bad. Again, this not a negative review of the place. It is what it is. And as long as your expectations aren't too high, it can easily exceed it. read more

Good breakfast spot. We got take out at Cracker Barrel on a Sunday because it was extremely crowded! This is a chain and has locations all over the place. In the area before being seated, it's like an old country store, so you can shop while waiting (brilliant idea). We spent about $18 for two pancake breakfasts. We ate it at home and the food was very good. The pakcakes were tasty, fluffy, and good sized. The bacon and eggs were made to order. I haven't been to a Cracker Barrel since I was living down south. Never had any issues. But todays meal was a really big disappointment! I had the Tips, Tenders and Shrimp combo. The only thing any good was the fries. The shrimp were tiny and the breading was way to salty. Tenders are just strips of breast meat sliced about 1/2" thick and over cooked. Then the was the "tips"--small prices of beef (about 1") cooked beyond recognition and so over-seasoned and salted that they were inedible! It was nearing the end of a long road trip and my friends and I decided to stop off at Cracker Barrel for a meal. It's been years since I've been inside one but I have fond memories of it. See, Cracker Barrel isn't just a restaurant, it's an experience. Almost every one seems to have a similar structure. The exterior looks like an old wooden inn out of a Western. Then you go in and there's a huge "General Store" of sorts with everything from toys to candy to clothing (and many other items to amuse you). The restaurant is walled off from this area, but a quick check in with the hostess gets you back there quickly. My friends and I were seated quickly and in a nice spot by a window. Our server was ridiculously young and seemed a bit nervous (I think it was her first week or something) but she did a fine job. As I looked around at the setting it looked a lot like the last Cracker Barrel I had visited down to the way the various sections were divided, a set of tables that could be put together to form a giant table (the last time I was in one our party was about 20 people). There was even a power plug by our table for me to get a charge on the ol' iPhone in, score! Fear not parents, this plug had child safety covers on it, something I don't think I've ever seen in a restaurant before. The most memorable items I had were the dumplings. Unlike their Asian cousins these dumplings were basically big, nicely shaped chunks of delicious dough drowning in a chicken flavored sauce. We also dug into their biscuits which were good, but not quite at the addition-level-quality of the Red Lobster cheese biscuits (then again few things are). For dessert I had the Coca Cola chocolate cake. Now, I didn't honestly taste any Coke flavor in there, but man was this thing *rich*! It was absolutely delicious but I'm glad I had someone to share it with and a tall glass of water to go with it! It's very sweet but very tasty. I really enjoyed this Cracker Barrel visit. It's not four star food by any means, but the fact we spent almost as long in the gift shop as the restaurant shows this is a kitchy experience it's four stars all the way! read more

We have been dining at this Cracker Barrel for over 5 years. Not many negatives here during that time period. We attempted to have Lunch here on Monday - November 14, 2022. The place was packed and there was quite a long wait after we ordered our meal. We waited about 45 minutes for our meal after we had ordered. The Staff seemed overly anxious due to the backup and no doubt the staff shortage. The meal was okay. The service was okay. The Staff was NOT in a good positive mood and it showed. They were stressed out and over worked. Many Restaurants are suffering from the same situation and many employees just do not want to show up for work and work and do their job. We had an early morning breakfast when they opened at 6am. The food was very good - Cinnamon Roll Pie Breakfast (seasonal), substituted hash brown casserole for the fried apples. It was all very good. My husband got the Grandpa Combo. Mostly very good, except for the biscuits and gravy. American/country-themed store and restaurant. Service was very good. Price was very good. My only complaint would be the very loud and busy music - not my preference at 6am. Quite the opposite of relaxing! Perhaps their intention is to wake you up really fast. Their sides were AWESOME, the hash brown casserole is to die for. I literally order two of those every time. The food itself is fantastic. I've ordered the Chicken Fried Chicken twice it came out the same both times. Our waitress is always great. We have games to play with while we wait for our meals.
