Sonic was a mixed bag for me. I loved the double smash burger. It was perfectly seasoned and simply yummy. The premium chicken bites were solid and the natural lemonade was pretty good. Unfortunately, it went downhill from there. I originally wanted a crispy chicken sandwich instead of the bites but they inexplicably were out of the chicken patties. The onion rings were a crumbled mess in the bag. I literally could not pick up one whole onion ring as they had all fallen apart. Heck, even picking up one solid half an onion ring would have been nice. That display was unacceptable. The crinkle cut fries were ok but certainly nothing to crave let alone even order again. And the fruit slushie was way too sweet. But on the plus side, the staff were nice and professional, something you don't see enough at fast food restaurants, so kudos to them for hiring and training well. read more

Whenever I see a Sonic I make it a point to stop. It's one of my favorite fast food places and I really like the drive-in experience. I ended up getting a double cheeseburger with tater tots and one of their new slushes the lime aid slush with the bubbles. All of it was great. Look, is any fast food place worthy of five stars? No. It's fast food. BUT for a fast food place, this Sonic is A+, and it truly all comes down to the service. The folks taking orders are quick, and accurate. The food comes out snappy and hot, and IF something is missed or mixed up (which is rare, but hey, stuff happens) they fix it so fast and with a great attitude. Plus, it's a small thing, but I've never got an order without napkins, the right utensils, and some mints. Purchased the so called cheesy bacon burger. The burger was huge but the bread was stale, the bacon was hard and gritty, and it had little flavor. Also, the wait was long at drive thru; thought they were cooking to order, but the food was warm (almost cold) not hot as if it had been sitting. Very disappointed. We were there on a work day last week in the middle of the day. We pulled up to a bay, pressed the button for service and got no response. We then went to the drive-thru with 1 car ahead of us. When it was our turn, we started to place our order and the lady told us to "hold on"...we sat there for approx 10 mins and she never returned. Needless to say, we went to the McDonalds next door and received grade A service! This is the 3rd time this has happened to us at the Waldorf Sonic and is absolutely unprofessional!! I hate to be the one to post a review like this, but I have to be honest. I've always seen the commercials for Sonic, & wondered what the experience would be like (Since it's not everyday someone on skates brings you food.) Little did I know, that dream was going to turn into a nightmare. In a nutshell, the wait was horrendous. There were no skates, only feet. My wife ordered $50 worth of food that all arrived cold. My order was 50% wrong, so we waited 10 mins for someone to WALK back with a chicken sandwich with two back buns. I don't blame you Sonic, and I'm not mad at the workers either. I understand what's going on in the world right now but...we gotta do better than this guys. C'mon. Terrible first impression. I'll be back in August/September hoping for improvement. read more

I'm always ecstatic to see a sign for Sonic! While in the area, the hubs and I made a mini pit-stop to grab a Cherry Limeade to go. Going through the drive-thru, the employee was super friendly and pleasant. We didn't even make it up to the drive-thru window to pay, as one of the employees came out with the drink and got our card for payment! We pulled up and received a receipt and the card, and we were on our way! Stopped here for ice cream last night. While waiting at the drive up window the employee making my husbands spilled the ice cream on the dome lid. He scooped it off with his hand and licked it off his fingers. He took that same hand and wiped the rest off the dome lid and ate that. He then put it on the counter and the employee working the drive thru tried to hand it to me. I asked him if he could remake it. He said "yeah, why?" So I told him what I saw. The second employee remade it with no problems but if I hadn't been watching them through the window, my husband would have gotten ice cream with a side of saliva. None of them were wearing gloves and the first guy that was licking his hand had a long beard and wasn't wearing a beard net either. Hmm if you are telling me that this location has shake, it turned out that it wasn't the same quality like the La Plata location. La plata location that closed down uses styrofoam on the shake. I've never been to any sonic location, so this was completely new for me. Everybody has always been begging for a sonic in Waldorf, and so I was ready to see what all the excitement was about! I tried to come here twice when they first opened and was turned away, and after hearing that most people had to wait at least an hour, I just stopped trying until now. So there was no line inside when we got there, the cashier was super rude. She had a complete straight face and spoke like a robot. I got a bacon cheeseburger and my husband got a chicken sandwich. My cheeseburger was super flat and wasn't anything special. I was expecting an in-n-out burger, it looked and tasted like a Mcdouble, except it was 7 dollars. My husbands chicken sandwich was sad. I attached a picture! It was literally half the size of normal sandwich bread, with a mini chicken patty on it. He ate it in like 3 bites, and it was also $7. My sister got the steak and cheese and she said it tasted and looked like it was microwaved. I'm so glad I waited a couple minutes and didn't wait in a long line like I would have if I came when they opened. We got milkshakes, and those were really good, plus they have a lot of flavors and the price is good, shakes are half off after 8pm. We might come back for shakes, but the food was not worth it. Every time we go here (8+ months), I'm always shocked with how terrible the service is when you use the stalls. Either the speakers are broken and we can't hear the person talking or it takes 15+ minutes to have the button acknowledged. They may be understaffed (I couldn't say for certain because we don't go into the building) but this is a consistent issue. If you want sonic, avoid the stalls and just go through the drive thru and save yourself the aggravation. read more

I want to give credit where it's due. February 15, at 11:30 ish at night. We're tired and hungry and quite frankly just want to go home and veg in front of the television. Four of my friends and I pile in the sit down dining area. We know it's late. Employees are ready to go home by this time. But our experience was awesome! While in the drive thru and I get to the window, I attempt to had two extra items to my order and I'm told by a young window cashier that I'm not able to add to my order. I told him that I never heard of such a thing and he informed me that I would have to drive back around to place a second order. Out of frustration I pull around and get out the vehicle and walk into the Sonic lobby. I explained the situation to the young lady at the counter and she says she usually works the driver-thru and she wasn't familiar with not being able to add to your order. When you are from the south and had sonic in the south you would never visit this one. My husband is from Baltimore and has visited sonic initially in the south that he was so happy when we heard sonic was coming to Waldorf. He even said it himself, the taste and level of service is horrible compared the Southern sonics. We went south for 4th of July and I ordered watermelon frozen lemonade. My husband followed my lead when he got back here and said it was horrible... I value my calories and this is another place I won't waste them at. read more
