Extremely rude workers. The ordering monitors were darkened, so I tapped it (as you would any device to activate the screen), we added our shakes (4 kids, 2 adults) and we were yelled at to 'STOP, TURN THE MONITORS OFF, WE'RE CLOSED'. Also. . .if you turned the monitors OFF, how was I able to tap it to turn it back on? Maybe unplug them if you dont want anyone ordering. . .just a thought. The burger came out exactly how Shake Shack usually promises it. Hot. Familiar. Solid. Soft bun. Beefy center. Cheese doing its job. It was not life-changing but it was dependable in that national-chain comfort way. Like airport luxury but with better sauce. You know the lane. You know the bite. It delivered. The cheese fries were the banger. Crispy enough. Salty enough. Covered in that creamy cheese sauce that makes no nutritional argument and does not care to. They had the fast-food dopamine thing fully activated. Messy. Simple. Effective. The kind of side that steals attention from the burger without apologizing. The food overall was good but the energy around it threw the whole thing off. Flavor was there. Execution was there. But the vibe made everything taste a little dimmer. We found a table in the back as we waited for our order. I'm happy we were early enough as the food did take a bit of time to come out. However, I'm not complaining because that extra time ensures delicious and juicy double cheeseburgers and a fresh order of fries. I opted to order on their kiosk and said I would be dining in and I was asked to enter my table number so the food could be brought to my table. The place wasn't busy at all as my photo shows, however, it literally took over 20 minutes for my chicken sandwich and Coke Zero to be prepared (and it wasn't delivered to my table as promised). I ordered a large drink with no ice, they filled my cup with ice and when I told them I ordered no ice I was told that was the last of the drink. Wow this place ALWAYS hits the spot! The food was absolutely delicious and we love the energy and atmosphere of the place when you go into National Harbor. It is super easy to place an order with their touch screen ordering and they put together the food super quick! We also got a cookies and cream shakes which are delicious because they have little bits of Oreo cookies in it and you get little chunks of it when you're sipping on it! I have a shake shack in my neighborhood......tbh I'm not a fan. The food always seems like the quality of a concession stand. However this one at National Harbor is Much better! I was pleasantly surprised of their vegetarian options. The food actually tasted good and seemed to be of better quality. They are located in the food court and definitely the busiest out of all the fast casual restaurants in the court. Best tip is to order from the kiosks rather than waiting in the long line. They are on the wall perpendicular to the register. This will save you a lot of unnecessary wait time. Also nice that they have a free tap water area. read more

The food is always good but it is very overpriced. Specialty BBQ burger fries and a root beer is almost $24. I was very friendly but the cashier had very little customer service skills. I felt like I was the one between the two of us with customer service acumen as I countered her rudeness with kindness. She acted like I was bothering her when I asked the cashier what was in the specialty sandwich. She said , "I don't know. The picture is right there. The picture tells you what's in it." The menu isn't that large. And the picture showed something fried as a topping - was it onion rings, fried pickles, fried onion straws. Fairly mediocre. I ended up getting the bacon avocado burger and it was quite small. Also got the spicy fries which were great. I have to say my favorite burger place is five guys and Burger King and that's a no particular order This doesn't even come close to either. The lines are fairly long but they move very quickly. Worst Cherry Limeade I've ever tasted, it tastes closer to pomegranate juice. You can't even taste any lemonade nor any cherry flavor.

Despite being located within a hotel, which is much more of a casino containing a hotel containing a shake shack, this location missed the mark of the standard for the chain. The food was fine, but not noteworthy. The atmosphere felt sketchy based on the lack of families and abundance of people who came for the casino. The service was borderline unsatisfactory as every employee we interacted with seemed put out by having to participate in the process. I tried the old standards to break the ice and brighten the mood, asking how their day is going, wishing them a speedy shift, but no one was having it and the ice remained solid. I'm not sure if it's management who are rough on these folks or the half-drunk impatient gamblers making up their clientele. Either way someone needs to help these poor people out. They are miserable which makes the experience feel miserable. It's strike number two in Shake Shack's up at bat for me. They are quickly losing their place as my favorite burger chain. read more

I had my very first Shake Shack when I went to NYC a couple years ago. I enjoyed it so much that's why when I found that there's a Shake Shack inside the MGM hotel in National Harbor, I was looking forward in visiting this location. I ordered the Smoke Shack with Bacon & Cheese fries. I was disappointed because it feels like it wasn't the same as the Shake Shack that I had in NYC a couple years ago. Their burgers are cooked medium rare but when I had ny very first bite, I noticed that it is medium well or close to being well done. Due to that reason, it is not as juicy as I expected. The bacon & cheese fries only have a few bacon bits. I feel like everything is overpriced because you cannot do combos. In the end, if you are around the area and wanted to try what the fuss is about, I recommend for you to try it. It is easy to crush the competition if it doesn't exist. Last night we arrived at 10:54pm and were told that they were closed. As we walked away, we saw several customers that were complaining about the line closing early. Note to management, it may be worthwhile to consider extending holiday hours later especially after a show releases from the theatre.
