Sonnys is always one favorite places to visit. They are very consistent and have large portions at a fair price. After a very nice conversation with the restaurant manager we decided to come back and try their food again. We ordered everything the same as before except our appetizer. This time we decided to try their BBQ pork egg rolls. These little beauties are absolutely scrumptious! We highly recommend them! Loaded with BBQ pork, Coleslaw and Pepper Jack cheese on the inside and nice and crispy on the outside - they are the perfect start to your meal. They come with a Smoking Ranch dip which was good but quite honestly I preferred eating them with their BBQ sauces. I could make a meal out of these alone! Our food this time was fantastic, everything was cooked to perfection and juicy - no dried meat on our plates. Their sides are always good and for the very first time our garlic bread actually tasted like it had some garlic flavor. My family and I had an early dinner at the Sonny's location in Inverness, Fl. on 09/11/2025. Upon entering the establishment the hostess greeted us fairly quick and asked if we had a preference of seating in the restaurant. We were then seated by the hostess and she told us our server would be Zoey. Zoey was very friendly, attentive, and helpful when it came to certain items on the menu. There was another staff member that assisted with the family, not sure of her name. The food, prices, and portions were all very satisfying. Overall, we had an enjoyable time at Sonny's. This place makes a rather small $15 cheeseburger with brown wilted lettuce and soggy fries in about an hour. When someone stops in for a burger they don't want to spend half the afternoon discussing it. They just expect a good quality product at a fair price. Charging $15 for a burger and fries is ridiculous and you add insult to injury when the quality is below par and the presentation is so bad. You need to spend less resources on marketing and focus on quality and value and your business will improve. read more

I miss the old Sonny's of ten years ago and before. Every sauce is sugary sweet. The sliced pork had large veins of fat in it and is sliced was thicker - it also doesn't have the same flavor as it used too. The atmosphere is ruined in this location as the smother leaks so much smoke out the door I walked out with burning eyes and scratchy throat. I will not return. If you have breathing issues beware of the leaking smoke. read more

I will never step in this store ever again. Not only was my food burnt, dry and cold. But the host (Hailey I believe was her name) was absolutely rude, the manager (marlow) discriminates against customers and employees, she talks down to employees in front of customers and has a horrible attitude. I left the store and saw an employee crying on the phone. I called the store and was put on hold for 2 hours!!!! Then got sick of it and hung up and called back the person that answered said "oh did they not get back to you" ummm no. I waited on hold for another 30 mins and finally spoke to someone who pretty much told me to call back a different day. Mind you I work in the restaurant business and I try to call around slow times and i know every place is different but 2.5 hours. They need to reevaluate the employees and the store. read more

We had the most amazing dinner Thursday and we were not even going to Sonny's but it worked out perfect. So my adult son and I were going out for dinner because my husband was out of town. So we said lets go somewhere dad does not like so we picked Chili's in Inverness, he just does not like it but we do. Well the parking lot was empty and when we walked in just 1 table had 3 or 4 people. We stood at the front for 5-6 minutes waiting for someone to acknowledge us and nothing. There was an employee on his phone over by take out never even looked up. My son said screw this place lets go next door to Sonny's lol another place my husband does not like. Well we has the best service ever, from the time we walked in the door until we left. The food was spot on and I have to tell you I don't like BBQ and my son loves it. We started with the redneck egg rolls which are to die for. I picked the brisket grilled cheese the waitress said it was amazing and it was. Sonny's BBQ Inverness is always our go to when we're wondering " what do you feel like eating?" Up until last night we've used their curbside pickup . Not knowing what to expect during COVID in regard to indoor dining , we were very pleased with their policies. Booths were closed off to assure distanced dining and servers wore masks. Condiments are no longer on the table for multi/use but are brought by the server as needed. Our meals were delicious ( Baby Back ribs and sliced pork). We're new to the area and kept passing this place , so finally stopped by for the maiden voyage test . We ordered the family deal for $39.99 . I was skeptical but ready . We got 2 different style ribs , baked beans , mac and cheese , and coleslaw . We chose curbside , got an ETA , paid and headed on over . So to our surprise everything was wonderful . Went to this location on Sunday. The only thing that was good was the fried okra. I ordered pulled chicken, which was super dry and tasted like it was leftovers that they were reheating. The corn bread was burned on the top. I thought maybe it was just the top portion, but no, the whole thing was burnt and so dry. The corn on the cob was obviously frozen. The food came out fairly quickly, and that was the last time we saw our waitress. We sat there for 27 mins waiting for our waitress to come back and get our check. Sonny's is my go to restaurant when I am getting off of work late and need to pick up something quick before heading home. I am constantly utilizing the drive thru service and regularly have positive experiences. The BBQ is consistent and appears to be smoked daily. I have always had a positive experience with the drive thru staff. They are pleasant and helpful in making sure that the food is prepared correctly and that all of the sauces are in the bag. The restaurant recently underwent a massive renovation that completely changed the decor of the interior and exterior. This renovation was long overdue and I am extremely happy to see this come to the City of Inverness. One recommendation that I do have in terms of the renovation would be to update the drive through voice box and menu sign to improve the lighting and visibility while placing an order. I feel that this was overlooked when the updates were performed. read more

Service was fast and friendly at lunchtime today. In our party of 4, we got all of our food quickly and correctly as well. The food wasn't as flavorful as other visits to Sonny's, something seemed slightly different to us. The garlic bread didn't seem to have the usual flavor and most of is tried all of the table BBQ sauces and couldn't find a difference between most of them. The spicy was definitely not spicy and tasted (and looked colorwise) just like the sweet. So maybe there was a mix up refilling them. The fries were undercooked and weren't seasoned at all, very bland. The pulled pork was tasty though! We will definitely visit again, hoping it was just an off day for flavor. read more

We love their pulled pork and baked beans but so often when we dine there sweet potatoes aren't available. Why??? Can't they put more in the oven??? No stars for you! So, my mother In law recently passed away and we are now caring for my father In law who is dying of cancer. My husbands cousin graciously offered to order us dinner to help us out. When I arrived at the pre arranged time to pick up the order I was told they did not have it. The person working the pick up counter then called me sugar in a condescending manner. As I turning to leave I got a text from my husbands cousin saying she was on the phone with them trying to pay over the phone. When I told the counter person this she said they didn't take payments over the phone and that the new person gave her the wrong information. So I said I would just pay for it. So the new person then took my card to pay and the cousin texted me she was still on hold with a guy. I asked the guy if he would tell the cousin what happened. He said someone else hung up on her! I asked him for my card back and to cancel my order. The entire attitude from the time I walked in was rude and condescending. Only getting one star so I can post this review.
