We were so hopeful about this place. We walked in and it was visually appealing with great decor. But unfortunately our experience was very poor. We waited for nearly an hour, our server was borderline rude. Very inattentive and our order was incorrect. The worst part was that the food was very bad. My wife's food was extremely overcooked and inedible. My food order was not complete and it was not hot/borderline cold. After waiting for an hour and getting such poor service and horrible food we let the manager know we would not be eating there. Thankfully the cashier took the bill back but he was very vocal about it. It was not a good experience for us at all. Maybe it was a bad day? Maybe they had staffing issues? I don't know but I would only eat there if you have lots and lots of time to wait. Good luck!

It looks as if the placement on the map has been corrected. Sonny's is still a favorite with great food and service.

We came to Sonny's I'll traveling between Oklahoma City and Dallas. This is a country comfort food restaurant. My wife had the catfish dinner - certain days it's all you can eat - and she loved it. The highlight was the corn fritters that came with her meal. The homemade slaw was good as well. Apparently the wait staff makes some of the side dishes, what we can tell, they really know what they're doing. I had a chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes, and fried okra. Steak and mashed potatoes were smothered in yummy, creamy, gravy. The most noteworthy thing about the chicken fried steak was how incredibly crunchy it was - not sure how they got that level of crunchy breading on there. Fresh rolls were great. A real highlight of the experience was the waitress, who was energetic, helpful, and funny. Wish I could remember her name! This place is a little bit off of I-35 (5 minutes), but if you're really hungry for some home cooking, it's worth the detour.

Chicken fried steak was the bomb HUGE

My father recommended this burger joint around the corner from his house. This place did not disappoint right out the gate.! Wait time at the front door was a little longer than typical but nothing you shouldn't be used to when going in at lunchtime. If you're mad, you have to wait you might wanna go somewhere else.. Anyway, I digress as we sit down I take a long look around and check everything out. Poor little spot or TVs everywhere. Good beer selection or great for that matter. The cocktail menu is just as epic but let me tell you right now. You're gonna wanna start your day with the fried deviled eggs and they shaved fried pickles. I know the shaved part probably throws you off but when I tell you right now, these were the best fried pickles over ever had.... As we move onto the burgers, my wife keeps it simplistic with getting your now when I say basic bacon cheeseburger that's selling it short it was fantastic seasoned and cooked perfectly! I decided I wanted to step on my game and try the heat wave. This burger was epic, super hot and everything. I wanted it to be.!! I got the onion rings for the side we also had a side of mac & cheese for our 15 month old. Both of them were fantastic. The onion rings were crispy and seasoned, and the mac & cheese was just as epic... I appreciate the excellent service as well as the recommendations we are so glad we got to experience this place. We love a great burger joint and that's definitely made a great trip. Thanks for a great afternoon.

So much so it was almost entertaining just to watch. I really think they cleaned the door entirely every time someone went in or out. Wiping down windows (on the outside too!), everything on the table, etc. I'm not sure if this is because of the pandemic, or if this is normal. By looking at the menu/ visiting the website, we found out that this is an Oklahoma chain. I thought that was really interesting, since I've never known a place to have so many locations ALL in just one state (rather than at least being slightly regional or of course a national chain). I got the club sandwich. I'm not a big sandwich person, but it seemed good at the time. I was surprised when it came out cut up in pieces, but apparently this is how club sandwiches are served? It definitely made it easier to eat, since it was stuffed with ingredients. Everything tasted fresh in the sandwich. The only thing I didn't like was that it was a "double decker" sandwich. Since I'm not a big bread or sandwich person to begin with, and also wasn't expecting it to come like that, I ended up actually deconstructing it a bit and taking out the two middle pieces of bread. We got the fried pickles to share as a side, and it's really hard to go wrong with fried pickles! I prefer them when they are the slices (rather than spears) which they were here, so I was extra happy. I just love that salty sour flavor. And they came out nice and hot! So yummy!

I'd heard about Oklahoma's famous onion burgers for years, but somehow never managed to try one. With a conference taking place across the street, Tucker's gave me the perfect opportunity to finally check that box. I'll be honest--burgers usually aren't something I seek out unless there's something unique about them. This was different. The Oklahoma onion burger absolutely lived up to the hype. Simple, messy, flavorful, and a great example of a regional specialty done right. The staff was courteous, the service was quick, and my food was out before I knew it. In fact, it was so good I ended up tucking my tie into my shirt to keep it out of the way. If you look closely at my photo, you'll spot my tie bar sitting on the table after I surrendered to the inevitable. The napkin dispenser's warning--"You're going to need them"--turned out to be pretty accurate. No regrets at all. If I'm back in Norman, I'll happily stop in again. If you're visiting Oklahoma and want to try something that's actually part of the local food culture, Tucker's is worth the visit.
