I am 3 months post op of my laser liposuction with Sono Bello & my surgeon was Dr. Brian Strand. I had read reviews for Sono Bello for 2+ years which positive outweighed any questionable. I finally looked in the mirror one last time in July 2019 & decided as the consult is free. (Since this is a life changing event, everyone SHOULD have their ducks in a row, having their concerns...IE questions ready to be asked.) Now being a consult it was not with a surgeon as I had not committed to the procedures or even discussed what I could afford vs what the price may be. Upon researching, I did go in knowing the general pricing for "getting rid of my muffin top". And Sono Bello was competitive to any other ~liposuction doctor out there in the St. Paul/MPLS area. Thus in Edina & at a hospital location using surgeons from a well renown hospital connected via parking lot/skyways, I felt confident. Showing what I wanted GONE, I was told I was going to have laser liposuction. Information on that procedure was given to me as well as additional photos shown of similar surgeries on other patients & how their outcomes changed their appearances. THIS IS NOT A WEIGHT LOSS procedure; that's on you. They do give weight loss ideas. This is a life altering event, yes its surgery and I was given 110% on how the procedures would be done. 10 lbs of fat is the legal limit on how much can be removed on one date. Thus if your carrying a lot of fat, do the math its going to a couple surgery dates. I was right at 10 lbs & was told should there be more than what the scale & measurements show prior, I would have to come back & have the rest taken out. Dr, Strand met with me & my husband a week after my consult, he sat with us over an hour explaining things, answering my questions, & reexplaining things. So I was completely made aware of what was to come. I also ordered body garments to assist in my healing, & the RN on staff who was standing at my side this whole meeting was very informative & helpful, giving me great tips on what to expect day of, day after and following days of the surgery. Listen to them because a shower curtain vs a puppy pad made a huge difference upon my first night of leaking fluids from my 7 incisions. Not to mention medications needed in a timely manner. My husband was on board the entire time. When I was ready to get on my feet 24 hours after my surgery I wasn't able to get up off the bed. My abs were just stripped from the fat on them thus they were extremely sore. He had to pull me up by my arms the first 48 hours. I was healing fast as I was able to get up slowly on my own after 48 hours & yes I was in pain. YES liposuction does leave the area treated ~sore as it needs to heal itself. Every person is different, and heals at their own time line. So those who go back to work the next day well they didn't have 10 lbs of fat cells taken from their body. I went back to work a week later and was very careful as I was in pain and couldn't take pain meds while working. Everyday I did notice I was healing though. Its amazing! I was swollen for 2 months, THEN my pants were falling off my body. Yes for real! I saw the difference in my stomach the 2nd day of post op, but now I see a completely different waist line and the appearance is just so pleasing! I still have soreness 3 months later. But its nothing compared to the first month of healing! And I have started my 3rd week of trail running! Sit ups are a definite no as my stomach area is still a bit sore and theres' minimal swelling yet. I am back to my workouts that I couldn't do pre op! I was too heavy. Again this isn't a weight loss program as I am only 10-11 lbs lighter. I am 4 sizes smaller in pants & look amazing. Everyone I have talked to at Sono Bello Edina has been professional, has answered all my questions, has been there since the day I walked in my consult, no pressure was given, ( if others felt pressure then maybe bring a second person to help you figure out what you want to do); there isn't any hidden agenda, its a business that provides people who are ready for a body change, by going through surgery, & wanting their bodies to be what they currently are not. All the expertise needed for this is at Sono Bello Edina! GO online and search your assigned surgeon. I did & found out he has an excellent record in his field! I was completely confident in his abilities. Also those leaving nasty comments on all the sites I went on prior to my commitment, some didn't leave their names, nor was there anything constructive said, which led ME to believe they may be competitors trying to bash a great caring company. I'll be back to Sono Bello Edina for my 6 month comparison, even though I was told by my surgeon & the RN that I was healing fast for the extent of liposuction that I had. I am 5 mos post op and so far and I have been very pleased with my results. I look and feel great. This procedure will not suddenly make you drop 50 lbs. I had 9 lbs of fat removed and had the E/X skin removal for my abdomen. I am down 15 lbs. I've been working out at yoga and I feel great and I breathe better. I'm 56 yrs old and now my stomach looks like it did when I was 30. I was being realistic never thinking it'd look like I did when I was 20. I love the staff and my Dr Volk. When I called them to make an appointment the woman that answer the phone asked me how much weight I wanted to lose and when I answer 70 lbs she said that I should not waste my time and money . To do a diet to lose weight , that would cost me $10,000 to use their services . Can you imagine when you constantly watch their commercials and to know that they falsely advertise. This review is coming from the care provider after my mom had surgery. I had very little after care information as the lady said "It will be just like the last procedure." Well at the last procedure I wasn't the one who took care of my mom so all this info was new to me and very poorly explained. Never did they mention how much drainage there would be after the procedure therefore the passenger seat of my car was completely covered in blood. They also wrote out the prescription wrong therefore getting her meds filled after surgery was a nightmare. My mom who normally doesn't take pain meds was very loopy and unable to explain anything to me so I felt very unprepared with the little info I had. I can not say enough good things about my experience at Sono Bello's Edina office! Every single staff person I have dealt with has been considerate, caring and compassionate. I had what is called an EX procedure. (Basically a modified tummy tuck.) Medically necessary steroids during my pregnancy and two C-sections had left my mid drift in less than ideal condition. I had a flap/pouch of skin that was not only unsightly but also caused my C-section incision to periodically open and get infected... Not to mention the skin rashes and irritations that were a regular occurrence. I am 3 weeks post procedure and I am already so incredibly happy with my results. I realized that literally for the past 19 years I was dressing my C-section instead of myself. I no longer have to make sure my shirts are long enough to cover my pouch. Dr. Strand and his nurse Sabrina were nothing shy of amazing! Dr. Strand has a great sense of humor and completely put me at ease and answered all of my questions. He made my incision in the perfect place and any scar will be easily covered by a bathing suit or underwear. Sabrina is equally as awesome and took great care of me post op. The instructions that she gave to my daughter were thorough and detailed which made my daughter's job of caring for me much easier. Things to note: 1) You WILL need someone to take care of you for at least 24 if not 48 hours post procedure. The pain pills keep you feeling a little loopy and it's incredibly helpful to have someone there to assist with changing the wound dressings. 2) Use puppy pads wherever you sit or lie post procedure...as a matter of fact, bring one for your car. They are super absorbent and work incredibly well. And the bonus is you can pick them up at the dollar store. 3) You will be sore and it does take time to heal. After all this is a large incision in your body. (Please note that I have Lupus so I heal slower than most.) I am at day 25 and am just getting to the point where I am almost pain free. I stayed out of work for 5 days and was very happy that I had that much time to recoup. read more

I am very disappointed as I was told after my procedure my stomach would be flat and I'm left looking the same as I did before the surgery but with ugly scars... I was even insulted on my last appointment when I was told that I need a tummy tuck and I was lied to about how much I weighed on the scale!! I'm looking into a lawsuit for false advertisement because I have not experienced any results that I was told I would. I feel lucky to be alive after my Sono Bello experience years ago. High pressure sales pitch promising results that were nothing like the way it turned out. Brief met the surgeon who clearly was in a rush. Was awake and screaming in pain but he kept stabbing me with the liposuction wand even though my blood pressure was dangerously high and I was in and out of consciousness. Left traumatized and in a lot of pain. Nerve damage persists from the brutal, rushed procedure and the areas done look like lumpy, deflated balloons. Nurse at follow up was new and didn't know what she was doing. Expensive, terrible procedure that I definitely would not recommend. Get a board certified plastic surgeon that cares about more than money. read more

I just had my laser lipo done 4 days ago so I'm not sure about my results yet. My stomach does look flatter and more contoured though. I wish I would have read these reviews before I did the procedure. I had the lipo done on my upper & lower abs, & love handles. They say you won't feel it but that is a lie. It hurt. A lot. I was crying and the doctor was very mean. I told him I was nervous, I've never had surgery awake before and didn't feel that "out of it" and he told me "if you wanted to be put to sleep you should have gone somewhere else" and continued on. He was rude at my pre op as well but I had the best nurse. I can't remember her name. He she was amazing. She told me that Dr. Strand talks shit a lot. He was rude to me at the pre op then after the initial surgery he "couldn't believe I would wear my pajama pants and walk around in public like". He also made fun of the way I sleep which I think is very unprofessional. On him alone I would only give Sono Bello 1 star. read more

Absolutely horrible experience. Every appointment was late (not a few minutes late; one was over 2 hours late, the other over 45 minutes late). My results were terrible and I now have an asymmetrical abdomen (it should be noted that I was only about 15 pounds above my goal weight and had a BMI of 25 so it isn't like they removed much at all. I was looking for sculpting which they assured me they could do). They say they'll consult with the doctor and call you back (you literally see the doctor for a 5 minute consult, then the surgery and never again) but never do. I am still only 3 weeks post op for my second procedure, so time will tell with my total results. However, as of now I am extremely please with my experience! I had a Tri-Sculpt EX, upper and lower abs, inner thighs, hips and knees done. I am on a journey to lose 150 pounds and had lost 75 pounds when I had my procedures. It was just the boost that I needed to keep going on my journey of whole life health! Post procedures, I am down 85 pounds and still have quite a bit of swelling in my legs. I now have an hour glass shape and am able to fit into clothes that I haven't been able to wear for over 15 years! Plus, it seems to have kicked off my metabolism which makes it easier to keep working towards my overall weight loss goals. The staff is super helpful and friendly. I loved how they customized the procedures to my overall needs! The weekly emails, calls and tips helped me to navigate all of the symptoms that popped up post procedure, which put me at ease. I would HIGHLY recommend this team for your contouring needs! I would definitely go back, after I lose the rest of my weight, if needed! The only thing that wasn't ideal was the sales process, but I HATE to be sold. I came in having done my homework (and having compared other options), so I knew what I wanted and how much I was willing to invest in this process. Because I have high BMI the price was way higher than what was advertised online. Also, they said my weight was higher and my height was shorter than when I had gone to my MD earlier in the week. So, I felt that wasn't accurate and was pushing me into a higher BMI category. However, when I said I would probably wait since I have been losing 10 pounds per month, they told me I would miss out on the sale so it would end up being more. In the end, we were able to work out a price that got me to my target investment range (1/2 of what the price started at) and I was able to get scheduled for a procedure the following week. You know I was skeptical about the entire process until I went in for my initial consultation. At my consultation I was provided the cost of procedure, some details of the procedure and financing info. I went home looked over everything and decided this is a good fit for me, so let's do it. I scheduled my appointment 30 days out. Came in for my pre op two days before my procedure and met the AWESOME MD and the nurses!!! He was so knowledgeable and funny. Him and the nurse took their time explaining step by step of my procedure and what to expect during/after. The day of my procedure, everybody was so nice and full of details for me. They made me comfortable right off the bat! Once I had my concoction of pills to relax me for my procedure I was all smiles. The MD came in ready to do his job and he did an amazing job on my lower/upper abdomen!!!! While he did the procedure you feel nothing, but a little discomfort in some areas. Nothing to unbearable though. Now I'm in my two weeks post and I see such great results already!!! Continue eating healthy and they do encourage walking. No exercise like aerobics, yoga, jogging etc for at least 4-6 weeks. Keep your compression garment on all day except when you shower of course. The first 3-5 days are the most uncomfortable. You'll drain for a day. You will be swollen for a minute. I'm still swollen and I'm two weeks in. I am numb, but the numbness is subsiding. Overall great experience! I was worked up over nothing. Ladies! The more you know, the more you are empowered! I'm a 30 year old single mother of an 8 year-old boy. I decided to become the best version of myself, with a little help of course! I've consistently dieted and worked out in the gym for the past 6 years but could not fully get rid of my mommy apron. I was extremely nervous working with Sonobello due to the negative reviews that are constantly receiving. I spoke to my surgeon about them at my preop. He was very patient and answered all of my questions. He was very reassuring and it comforted me that he has been a surgeon for over 35 years. Originally I was just going get lipo for my upper and lower stomach, and the upper and lower area of my sides. He had suggested a tummy tuck or as they call it an Xcision as well. When he left the room the nurse said don't worry I'm not going to try and talk you into anything you don't want. After a lot of consideration I decided I wanted the tummy tuck more than I wanted lipo. Now they cant do a tummy tuck without lipo unless you have lost an insane amount of weight and have nothing but skin. I called them the DAY before my surgery asking to change my procedure and they worked with me and allowed me to change it. It did cost more, like a lot more which was pretty frustrating, but it was really what I wanted. Day of surgery I went in and it was a little awkward I will admit. But they gave me pain meds and some Xanax to relax. I was awake at the beginning of the procedure and did feel some of it. It did kind of hurt. I was making faces to give queues of my discomfort. I am unsure if they really responded to that as I quickly fell asleep and remained so the rest of the procedure. They do have a maximum of fat they are allowed to remove. But the reality is that they literally are removing fat from your body permanently. So for people that dont see results, I am unsure how that is possible unless you had WAY more than 10 pounds that could've been removed. The day of surgery I could see how much flatter my tummy was. I am just shy of my one month mark and the swelling is almost completely gone. My stiches are almost completely gone. I will say though the scar is light and not awful looking now I was pretty concerned about it right after surgery. It did look kind of well.. crappy. If I would've had the money I do wish now I would've done the lipo on my sides as well. But I am happy with my results and certainly have a flatter tummy now. They send me an email every week with directions of things I can do to help with after care. So I would say they are at least up until your one month, decently concerned about how you are doing post-op. read more

Went for a consult, waited 45 minutes and still was not seen. So I left. 5 people checked in at one time, there was a note on the desk that read "if nobody is at the desk, grab a clip board and fill out the paperwork". Really? Was nervous for my consultation but as soon as I walked in Charlotte greeted me with a smile and had such a wonderful presence that it made me feel comfortable and calm. Then going back to meet and talk to my consultant Darcy, she answered every question I could think of, was fun and sweet and made me feel confident in making this decision for myself. Her being so knowledgeable as well as all the research I've already done I was extremely happy to finally make myself happy and do something I've wanted to do for a long time. From the front desk staff and Charlotte, Darcy and my wonderful nurse and doctor, this was such incredible place to get it done. Plus I'm so thrilled with my results so far (2 weeks post op) and I haven't even completely healed yet. It's also great to know they are always available to answer any questions post surgery in case I have any more. The people are friendly, but i am not sure about pricing methods! I paid 1895 for my one area lipo, but now it said online for 1395 for an area. Both are for one area free! There is 1995 for surgery fee on top of buy three get one free area! Anyway, i paid a little over 7000 for my 4 areas lipo! I didn't loose much weight even when they said they removed 5 lbs of fat! Very much the same weight as i went in! I didnt bring up the problem with them, but just wish they are honest about the whole thing. read more

I recommend that no one go here..I spent $15.000 yes thousand dollars to wear shorts again..I had to have my legs done 2 times and they still look horrible..they gave me free Venus skin tightening that did absolutely nothing..I have more lumps and bumps..one leg has a huge lump where there should not be..they are uneven..I hate them now and I could never ever wear shorts again..and when I wear a bathing suit I am so embarrassed..I walk 5 miles a day and eat right so that is not the issue..they are not a vey qualified company..I would suggest that you go to a private plastic surgeon where you are not treated like cattle..this place promises you all these things and nothing is further than the truth!! After reading the other reviews I had to post one. The staff is great and definately cares a about you. If you have questions about what procedures you should have you need to ask for help. There is always a meeting 1 WEEK before where you meet tour surgeon. They go over the insructions with you MULTIPLE times and throughout your recovery you receive updated emails with recommendations and links or numbers to call. I am 2 weeks out from my first procedure and a 1 day out from second. YES it hurts...its surgery!! I cried but they do their best to make you comfortable. If you don't want to feel it go somewhere they knock you out. My results from 1st procedure are amazing! My stomach is almost flat except for the expected "lumps" that go away with the time which could be 6 months. You need to change your life! You cannot keep eating junk and expecting good results. I have changed my eating habits and already started light cardio....lots of walking and this week I'll start using weights on my upper body. The other 2 reviews are unfortunate but my experience was the exact opposite. read more

I had a mini lift a month ago. I have had other work done so, I think I can give an honest review. I am very happy with the results! I look at least 10 years younger. There is very little swelling left. This was my first experience with corporate medicine. I was very pleased. They can afford to charge less because the overhead is lower than a single practice Doctor. I had my first appointment with Rebecca. She is a sales consultant. I already knew what I wanted and she seemed to understand My next appointment was the day of surgery. Dr.Stand was wonderful as were the nurses. I felt very comfortable. The surgery went very fast and I was comfortable the entire time. They gave me pain pills to take at home but, I didn't need many. Dr. Strand called that night but, we didn't answer the phone. I wish I had. I had a bad night due to the garment I had to wear around my head for 24 hours. The next day I returned and was given a different kind. It was fine. I went back a week later and had the stitches removed. Dr. Strand and his nurses were wonderful. my next appointment is tomorrow. I expect Dr. Strand to tell me I can start golfing and exercising again. I highly recommend him. read more

The staff was very helpful and friendly, which is the only reason I rated it two stars. As for the actual service performed: my problem areas look worse than they did before. I felt like the consultation with the surgeon wasn't long enough for them to get an understanding of what I wanted: most important was that I wanted the mass of my thighs evened out. One is noticeably bigger than the other. I said this to the nurses during my initial consult and to the doctor in my 5 minute pre-op appt. "oh yeah yeah no problem." Six months and $5000 later the size gap in my thighs are even more pronounced. What was the solution? She recommended another very expensive service for skin tightening. I don't think my expectations were out of line: not looking for a miracle. Not looking to replace a healthy lifestyle. Just looking for some help with symmetry of my legs so maybe I can feel comfortable in bathing suits and shorts. I didn't get it. In fact, I found it a complete set back. I feel like crying every time I look in the mirror. I would have been better off just wadding up some cash and throwing it at them. All the staff at Sono Bello, from the front desk to the MD, were very professional and very nice throughout my experience. The evening of my procedure, the MD phoned to make sure everything was going fine and that I was doing well. When my husband told them I was in pain and pretty restless, the MD told him to go ahead and give me a little more pain medicine, which was a relief to both he and I. Much of my experience was with Molly, a Physicians Assistant and she is very patient with going over everything, having to repeat herself often as there is anxiety with these decisions. The staff was very polite and helpful, friendly and overall professional. The facility is adequate.My surgeon was impersonal but the nurses were very caring and kind. I don't feel that the pre-op appointment totally prepared me for the pain I would experience, or the roughness of an almost barbaric procedure. I spent $5,100 to have the fat removed from my upper and lower abdomen and waist areas. Now just a little over 4 months post procedure I have lumps and bumps and hard knots where the trocars were inserted into my belly to "suck" the fat cells out. OMG, it was extremely painful! I'd rather have 5 kidney stones or 10 babies than go through another "liposuction" procedure. Four months and $5100 later, am I happy or satisfied with my results? That, at this point of recovery and "healing" would be a very strong NO. At my 3 month post op appointment, I did not see the surgeon, the nurse did my photos and commented that you could see the results and that I was at about 80% of the healing stage. The only true difference I could see was on the backside picture that actually looks like I have a waistline. I haven't had a definitive waistline since I was a teenager! Pre-baby days. She encouraged me to massage my abdomen for about 10 minutes twice a day and exercises to tighten the abdominal muscles. The lumps and bumps are scar tissue and should break down with aggressive massaging. That's all well and good. However, I have significant arthritis in my hands and thumbs that "aggressive massaging" is not an easy task for me. Iv'e even done the rolling pin massage but same issue with my arthritic joints holding the rolling pin, I can only get a few minutes in before my thumbs start screaming at me to stop. Therefore, in summary, I have to say that I am not satisfied with the so-called procedure and half-ass results at the current time. If I was at 80% healing at 3 months I don't see much that the next 3 months are going to make any significant difference when I go for my 6 month follow-up appointment in November. Bottom line....I would NOT recommend a Sono Bello liposuction procedure to any of my friends or family members. Thank you for this opportunity to really address my disappointment and disillusion from a procedure that I was excited to have done and was willing to spend that amount of money to "feel better about my body and myself". I was hoping for better results and there were a lot of things they didn't tell me till after the fact. I came in to discuss 2 areas and was sold multiple to "balance out the result". At my pre-op they told me they couldn't do it all in 1 surgery, so I'd have to come back for another surgery. After surgery when my skin was not tightening back up on my face, my doctor said we did the wrong procedure. I'm going to need another surgery. My doctor said I didn't really need 1 procedure they sold me, but he did it anyway. I was awake during surgery and remember both of them. I remember telling them during the first surgery I was in pain. I was pulling my legs up and they had to hold me down to finish. They offered more meds for the second surgery, because I was afraid of the pain again. After the 2nd surgery I told them I remembered the surgery, but my pain was less. The doctor said, "See, and we didn't give you anymore medication that we did the first time." Why would they be dishonest about trying to keep me comfortable prior to surgery? I would say research ALL your options, don't do any procedures that are not needed, and double confirm that you will get the results you expect to you are not in unnecessary pain from the wrong procedure. read more

This place is a business that feeds off of you and leaves you high and dry. They say they can help you but won't tell you what's better for your situation. I went to 3 other plastic surgeons and they all dislike sonobello. They get you in with instant financing and then leave you with horrible results. You will still have fat on your body or less than ok results. Your money will go a lot longer somewhere else who cares how you feel about yourself. The place feels colder and unwelcoming when you're in the liposuction procedure. It hurts and feels violent at times. Yes you are awake and feel the numbing shots and the pressure of the cannula. The before and after pictures of my stomach were the same. When I complained they gave me 8 sessions of skin tightening which just feels like a hot metal ironing that never did anything for my skin. I called again twice and left a message for Joy and never received a call. I waited until now to post something to see if my area would improve but nope. I have met great docs who has done great miracles. 0 stars. I urge you to find other dissatisfied sonobello clients. I am sure there are a lot. read more
