I rarely leave a negative review. I left their office with 20 circles on my body that they wanted to dig out to review for cancer. This week I went to Mayo Clinic to have a full dermatology review conducted. There were zero issues with anything on my body!! How many people have paid huge $$$ because of the fear they spread. This is a hard review to write, because my husband and I have been going to them for years and have been satisfied with their knowledge and service. (He did have a bad experience a couple of years ago when he went in for his annual skin check and was left for 45 minutes in a freezing room with no clothes on, waiting for the doctor to come and no one checked on him.) I had a cosmetic procedure done last Friday, Juvenal injection for lip lines. Dr. Bussman came in, barely said hello, and went to work. She injected above my upper lip, then some lower parts of my face, which she had not done before. She never said she was going to do that, but I didn't ask, trusting her. She finished and left, we had maybe 30 seconds of conversation, but nothing about the procedure. Her team came in and gave me a thin ice pack to apply. No after-care instructions were given to me. The next morning when I woke up I had a huge bruise on my chin and smaller bruises around my lips. As the weekend progressed the bruises got more pronounced. I decided to go to the office and show them what had happened. Dr. Bussman was not there but the receptionist looked shocked when she saw my face and called Bussman's nurse. She was busy, but the receptionist talked to her, and promised she would review my file and call me before the end of the day. She never did. I called the next day and asked to speak with her but she was busy so they put me through to the clinical team's voicemail. I left a detailed message. Three days later, no response at all from Dermatology Specialists. We will never be going back there, and I would never recommend them. And my procedure, for 20 minutes of treatment and appalling lack of attention to a patient's issues, cost me $650. read more

I have been a patient at Dermatology Specialists for a few years and have been extremely happy with the care I have received. I was very surprised to see the low ratings on Yelp which seem mostly related to interactions with the office. Several years ago I had a small lesion on my neck which I believed needed medical attention. I had been using the University of Minnesota Dermatology Clinic but when I called them for an appointment it was months before anything was available. My daughter in law recommended Dermatology Specialists. I called them and they set me up with an appointment with Dr. Chermack right away. I grew up in the South West and worked for the Texas Highway Department during summers while I was at university and I have always spent a lot of time outside without a hat or proper protection from the sun so the result has been some significant skin damage. I needed to have some lesions on my face and neck removed by Mohs surgery which was done in their offices by Dr Bhardwaj. He did an amazing job and removed the lesions with no visible scarring. The wife of a friend who is a dermatologist in another city looked at my face and told me that the surgeon had done an excellent job. I have always found the staff very competent and caring. The only issue I have had is with their telephone call in system which seems out of date. Recently I called to verify an appointment and was put on hold for a long time and then sent to voicemail. No big deal as I left a message and they got back to me later; however, if they had immediately rolled me over to voicemail it would have saved me a few minutes. Otherwise I have been extremely pleased with the service and care I have received and I would highly recommend Dermatology Specialists. read more

This has been the worst customer service experience my family has experienced in years. My primary care doctor recommended this derm group, and the scheduling has been horrendous. My first appointment was cancelled with one day notice and rescheduled a month+ later. My husband's first appointment was cancelled the day-of appointment and rescheduled over 2+ months later. I offered my rescheduled appointment to my husband and THAT appointment was cancelled once he arrived to the office - wasting hours of workday. Unacceptable customer service plus very rude person on the phone. We understand issues arise, but unacceptable that 3 of our first 4 appointments have been cancelled with less than 24 hours notice. We will not seek treatment at this practice any longer. read more

Absolutely awful. Their providers do not care for their patients. They give terrible referrals. Their business office is the worst- completely uninformed. The only positive experience I had was when I submitted a request to transfer my medical records. That was done quickly and rather seamlessly. There's no other way to put it: my provider was abrupt, rude, and had a terrible attitude towards me. I was treated like a bother. For example, I wanted a provider to look at hypopigmentation/vitiligo And explain to me why it was occurring all over my body all over my body. With an attitude, he asked "well have you ever actually been diagnosed with vitiligo by a professional?" As if im making it up from google or something. OF COURSE I HAD an official diagnosis. But Sir, you are the dermatologist! How hard is it for you to just look down and tell me if I have it or not? More of that transpired between the 2 appointments I had, but I won't waste my breath. One great thing is that providers will walk in-and-out of the door within minutes, so the appointments are super short. But do not expect to be thoroughly listened to, do not expect that they are going to take the time to thoroughly investigate and and understand your symptoms over time before developing a plan. Do not go to them! They removed a couple of freckles that they said "are not yet cancer, but could potentially become cancerous." They scared me so I let them go ahead and remove them. The doctor took major slices out of me, when these freckles started off the size of a pen dot. He told me the scars would heal and maybe turn a little white. Now I have huge black scars on my legs and and above my knee. When I went back the doctor pretty much said well everyone heels different. I tried all kinds of scar patches and ointments. Nothing worked:( On top of that the doctor gave me and estimated prior to removing the freckles which was wrong. They charged me $400 out of pocket and my insurance a ton! I can't believe I had to pay $400 for the doctor here to leave me with ugly scars I'll have forever! read more

Hi, Although I love my doctor at this clinic, this review is about their custmer service or lack thereof. I made an appointment for my daughter a few weeks ago. I drove 45 minutes to meet her at the appointment. My daughter's drive was 2 hours to get there for the appointment. She was running 10 minutes behind schedule because of crazy traffic. When I informed them that she was running 10 minutes behind they told me we would need to reschedule, that they were booked really tight that day. Do you know how many times I've sat in that waiting room for more than 10 minutes to see my doctor? MANY times......and, I haven't minded that, I understand things happen and they get behind.....and, I love my Dr. there. I made it very clear that we would NOT be rescheduling there, ever. After a half hour of working through technical issues, the site froze for the third time. So, I called and talked to the manager. In all my life I have never been yelled at by a "manager," but that is what happened when I told her I wouldn't come in early to fill out paper work in their office and risk increased exposure to Covid. She went into a rant about technology not always working and how they are practicing social distancing, etc.... Finally, her alternative: continue to work through internet to get registered. I was worrpied after reading the other reviews, but did not experience the negatives they did. The nurse was a bit abrupt, but otherwise was careful and apologetic when pain was unavoidable. Dr Cresswell was thorough, listened well, and did what seemed like the appropriate tests. He has squeezed me in for next week to discuss. Let me be clear: my doctor is great. Friendly and helpful. I keep coming here for him, but holy %*#*, is the place poorly run. They have four receptionists, right? Four. And all of them have open desks, but they refuse to see anyone right away. You have to wait 5 mins if there's no one in front of you in line, and they don't move it when there's a line 8 people long, either. Terrible customer service model. I had an appointment with Dr. Creswell - I was referred from my Fairview MD due to a chronic hand wart. This was the MOST efficient doctor's appointment I've ever had in my life - I was literally out the door within 15 minutes, and that's with EXCEPTIONAL bedside manner (from the receptionists, nurses and Dr. Creswell) and getting my mass surgically removed! I found Dr. Creswell to be really helpful - he answered all my questions thoroughly, explained everything very well, and surgically shaved my wart off without any complications (it's still healing). Overall, two thumbs up, and that's coming from a medical professional with very HIGH standards for medical care! read more

I switched to Dermatology Specialists after a very bad experience at a different provider. I was very happy that I got a second opinion from Dr. Cho and that she was able to review the pathology from the previous provider. When it came about that Mohs was necessary to remove a basal cell carcinoma from my scalp, Dr. Tschetter, her assistant, Shayna, and her scheduling coordinator, Christina, were all fantastic at helping me out. I was able to get an appointment for the same week that I called, they kept me calm and answered all of my questions. Even though I had to go back 3x to get cancer removed, I was glad that Dr. Tschetter was conservative in her approach so that I'll have minimal scarring. She was also meticulous about how she closed up the site so that I will have a straight-line scar along the center part of my hair - it'll be imperceptible once it's fully healed. I am really optimistic about my recovery and couldn't be more thankful that I landed at Dermatology Specialists for this procedure. read more

I've been treated for a skin disease for fifteen years. I'm pretty used to the once a Year visit to get my medicine renewed. The doctor here told me she was going to require every six months. Then when I had gotten all blood test and records to her told me it was every four months. She never wants inquired about an eye doctor visit which all other doctors are worried about with the medication I'm on. Completely made me feel like all they cared about was money. In the 2+ years I have been coming here they have NEVER sent my full accurate prescription to the pharmacy.... Always having to go back multiple times to pick it up after many calls with the doctors office trying to get them sent and approved. They never answer their phones and when they do there is always an incredible wait time- and believe me, you will have to call because there will be issues. The doctors seem good but they do not give you the time of day to discuss any issues. Very rushed. They are not personable and do not care about their patients. Hello, I regret leaving this but personnel has left me no other choice. I have been seeing Dr. Bender for years! He is excellent at what he does and I respect him alot. However Ive had melanoma in the past which he referred me to Dr. Econamu and was pleased with results. Well Ive had a problem with office personnel in the past and even quit going their as they made me wait to verify ins. I assured them it hadnt changed but they would not listen and said I had to wait to see Dr. I waited over 45 mn to get in. In the mean time I checked with my ins. and they said NO one has called. What I think happened is they verified it by fax and left it on fax in back. So I quit going. Well recently I had a mole removed from my lip. I went back as I love Dr. Bender.I waited 3 mo. to get in as because of covid he only works one day. He removed a mole next to my lip and told me if you get a postcard no worries otherwise we'll call. Welllllll I rec'd a message on Mon. to give them a call back. I have been trying for 3 days and was told by front office they were in clinic and they would return my call at the end of day. This was MOn. To date no one has got in touch with me. Ive tried 7 times and even called Becca office mgr for her to call me. No return. You can imagine how I feeel as in the past Ive had melanoma and now their just leaving me hang!!!!! So FED UP with their staff. The answering service doesnt even pick up after hours.....Now I realize they may be short staffed but SERIOUSLY this is how you treat a customer thats been going their for at least 7 years. Dr Bender -you are great at what you do but your assistant sucks. Front desk would not let me talk to anyone and said they were following protocol. You just lost a great patient because of your inadequate staff. I asked them to send results in mail NOW thats another wait game. Mean time as in past-time is of essence. Very upset and dissatisfied with staff.I want to add to this. today I received a letter from them with results. Becca the mgr. did finally call back. I have been seeing Dr Mimi Cho for dermatology appointments for about 6 years. Medical and some cosmetic appointments. My first appointment with her was for a persistent rash on my face that had been misdiagnosed by several doctors. She knew what it was and what medication I needed. I come to appointments prepared with my questions and concerns. Dr Cho always makes sure that they are addressed before I leave. It is a busy clinic and time is valuable, just as any other large practice. Be prepared for appointments and respect your doctors time. I highly recommend Dr Mimi Cho. read more

Terrible service, looked at my issue for 2 seconds diagnosed it incorrectly, prescribed two very expensive creams and never followed up on a voicemail left for triage. After calling to have the charges reviewed, a week and a half passed when I had to call back the office, and they refused to budge on the charges. I went to Dermatology Specialists one time and I will not go back. My doctor was pleasant and very capable. My reason for seeing a dermatologist was to get a baseline skin cancer check. The doctor found one mole of concern, removed it, and sent it in to be checked for malignancy. My concern was when she removed the mole she saw a very small black head on my back next to the mole she was removing. She asked me if I wanted her to, "just get rid of it" since she was right there. I said sure. When I got my bill she had included "acne surgery" to my bill which added $355.00 to my bill. I called the billing office to question the bill. They took the $355.00 off the bill but said that next time I would be expected to pay for all services rendered. I was so offended. The doctor offered to remove the blackhead ( took approximately 10 seconds, tops) and never explained that a cost would be added to my bill. Absolutely ridiculous. In trying to get understanding from the billing office, they explained that this is customary practice. I can't believe doctors in this clinic are not expected to explain to patients when a cost will be added for things they offer to do, however small. Very bad practice! Couldn't be more disappointed. I'm writing this on behalf of myself and my husband. My husband has been seeing Dr. Chermak for years. She used to be so kind and helpful but his interactions with her these last few years have been appalling to say the least. My husband is the type of person that if he's on time, he considers himself late. He arrived for his 7am appointment at 7 on the dot. He was checked in and brought back but told that he didn't need to change into the gown as Dr. Chermak hadn't actually arrived to the office yet. 30 minutes later the doctor comes into the room and scolds my husband for not being undressed. She said "I'm very busy and don't have time for this. If I come in here you should be prepared!" My husband replied, "if you're so worried about staying on schedule maybe you should arrive on time." She didn't say a word in response. No apology, nothing. Who treats someone like that when you're the one with the audacity to not arrive on time? Unfortunately it only gets worse from there. My husband had a cyst on his back that needed draining. At first Chermak told him to see a plastic surgeon to perform the procedure. We began to look into specialists for this but then on a follow-up visit, Dr. Chermak stated she could actually handle the procedure. Well, she was right first time because she basically carved a hole into my husband's back. It has been almost two years and he has a MASSIVE scar on his back. It's not a typical scar that's just darker in color. This looks like a chunk of his back is missing and has been replaced with a patch of discolored silly putty. Once again she took no responsibility for what happened and pretended like that was normal. In hindsight, I wish we'd consulted with a malpractice lawyer after this first happened. Now for my experience, I have been seeing Dr. Reid for a long time. In fact I like her so much that even though she's considered out of network and my insurance won't cover visits, I still go to her. However, despite knowing I don't have insurance, she will not renew my medication unless I see her twice a year. Why do I have to go in and pay an office visit when everything is status quo? If they were doing blood tests to check my levels or I was having issues I'd understand, but she literally looks at me and goes "meds still working? Ok bye!" The visit out of pocket was $150 (used to be $125) and this time when I called to make my appointment they stated their prices had changed to $229!! They raised their price over 50% just for an office visit. Absolutely disgusting and outrageous!! It's abundantly clear this place does not operate as a care-provider. They are simple a revenue-focused business just like any other. read more

Save yourself the headache and do NOT go here! The absolute worst patient service I have ever experienced. Dr. Creswell is fine, although often cranky and impatient. He wants to do his 5 min video visit, collect your $$$ and jet, so if you have questions, he's annoyed. But, his staff is dreadful. Latest issue - in a string of many - is they didn't call in my son's Rx following his Dec visit, so after 3 trips to the pharmacy and four phone calls to their office, I finally got them to call it in to the pharmacy - early JANUARY, only to discover our PBM no longer covers the drug my son has been on for 7 months. New year, new policy apparently. So, I call all over to find the least expensive place to get it with no insurance - (Costco) paying cash. Then, another whole odyssey to get someone at Derm Specialists to cancel it at CVS to instead call into Costco. No one would help. They held us hostage until some lovely pharmacy tech at CVS advocated for us and worked with Costco to personally transfer. No help from doctor's office that caused the issue to begin with. This took weeks. Ok, so fast-forward to today, it's supposed to be my son's last check-in and guess what? Dr. Creswell closes the call with "I'll have my office call in your script to CVS!" Dear God. My teen relays this to me and I call their office immediately to correct it. No one answers - I wait on hold for about 12 minutes before being invited to leave a vm. I leave a succinct vm asking for this correction. Once again, their file (from last month) should indicate I am paying cash and need to get it at Costco or not at all. On that last point, I say also please get a message to Dr. C that my kid will have to end the regimen one month early, because we are not going on this wild goose chase again. Hours later, I get a return voicemail from someone named Kim that says, "I can't help you. I do scheduling, not prescriptions. Sorry." p.s. They also can't seem to keep straight that my son is male and refer to him as "she" every single time they leave me an unhelpful vm. Minor, but it matters with Accutane, and also, is it that difficult to pay attention to who your patient is? It doesn't instill a lot of confidence that they are paying attention to anything else (e.g. dosage, etc.) Geez!!!!!!!! Cannot wait to be done with them. read more

I was in and out in ten minutes but in that short amount time I had a full body scan for any wayward moles. The doctor was very thorough and extremely efficient...almost to the point of being robotic. That aside, she was nice enough, dispensed valuable advice, and I felt like I was treated well. I left feeling confident about my visit despite it being so brief. I went on the recommendation of a friend and now I'm sending my sister there too. It was my first time to a dermatologist so I can't compare it to any other experience, but I know from hearing other people's stories that I had a pretty good one. The wait was not horribly long for an appointment either, I think I got in within a month of calling to schedule it. I will be back. read more

I went here for a skin cancer screening and continue to go back for cosmetic skin care needs. The doctors and nurses are great--very professional and willing to answer questions and give advice. I love that they are not into pressuring you to buy really high-end lotions and creams, though they do sell them. They always include an affordable drug-store brand in their list of recommended products. The treatments I've received have been great and I'm really happy with the results. My skin is really sensitive and prone to breakouts and I can easily say that with their advice and treatments, it looks the best it ever has. read more

Went in with my son to see Dr. Reid for a lump on his forehead that felt like a pea under his skin after getting hit in the head with a baseball a month earlier. After waiting a very long time in the waiting room, then also a very long wait in the room, the Dr finally came in and looked at it, touched it for maximum 5 seconds and said, "this is an epidermoid cyst and needs to be removed at our Edina clinic". She was in the room for maximum of 3 minutes. So, I made an appointment at the Edina clinic for the next time he was home for college. The cyst had changed in shape but could still be felt underneath the skin. My husband took off work and took him in for the cyst removal and when the Dr came in she felt it and said, "This isn't a cyst at all. it is just scar tissue. We don't remove those. It should disappear on its own. If it doesn't...come back." We were charged $110. Again... maybe a 5 minute appointment. My complaint is that Dr. Reid diagnosed him with a cyst and told us it should be removed. It wasn't a cyst at all....they should not have charged us being it was a misdiagnosis by Dr. Reid. The right thing for them to do would have been to not charge us for the 5 minutes it took her to tell us it wasn't what we were sent in for at all. They insisted they are charging us anyway and said we have to fight it through our insurance company. It's not worth $100 for the hours it will take me to get it resolved...but feel it's important people know. 2 appointments, max 10 minutes total and charged almost $300. It's plain wrong. But they don't have to answer to customers like any other service providers would. read more
