The restaurant itself is always clean and well-maintained--they've got a nice, modern decor with dark wood and soft lighting that gives off a great evening vibe if you're dining in. That said, we usually pick up our orders ourselves these days. During the pandemic, we used to rely on Uber Eats, but we got hit with too many random surcharges and delivery fees that inflated the bill by nearly 35%. Since we're less than a mile away, it just didn't make sense anymore. Plus, the kitchen is fast; food preparation usually only takes about 15 to 20 minutes. Parking Pro-Tip: If you're picking up, parking right on Bedford Street is tricky and almost always crowded with delivery vehicles. Do yourself a favor: park in the Bedford Street public lot behind the CVS on Forest Street. There's a super convenient pedestrian passageway that cuts right through and pops you out directly onto Bedford next to Tigin Irish Pub. It saves a ton of frustration. The Food: While they have a Japanese menu, the only thing we've actually tried from it is the house salad (which is always fresh). Our standard rotation never misses: * Pork Egg Rolls and a quart of Wonton Soup (great starters). * Chicken Lo Mein and Chicken with Broccoli (classic, solid execution). * Spicy Basil Chicken (has a nice kick to it). * Pan-fried Noodles with Seafood Special (definitely a favorite). Ordering Tip: If you want pork fried rice, don't buy a standalone order. Instead, upgrade the white or brown rice that already comes with your entree. I've gotten takeout multiple times, and delivery is quick and food is great. I LOVE how this has both a Chinese and Japanese menu: it means I can get both wonton soup and sushi in one order from one restaurant! They've also respected my allergens every time I've ordered from them, and I have sesame and nut allergies, which can be hard for Asian restaurants to accommodate. I've been really pleased with them so far! Definitely will continue ordering from them. read more

I'm always skeptical of places that do multiple types of cuisine and Fuji is one of those places that reaffirms my skepticism. Usually a restaurant does at least one of the types of cuisine better than the other but Fuji's execution of Chinese and Japanese is totally off/lacking. I can appreciate Americanized Chinese food but whatever Fuji is doing is not it. Got Mapo Tofu - was suspect when it was described as mild as it's notoriously supposed to be a spicy dish - and what I received was tofu and diced vegetables (why is there celery in this Mapo tofu) in brown sauce? It seemed more like lobster / black bean sauce flavored than Mapo. And you'd think the Chicken with Garlic Sauce would be in more of a brown sauce right? Well wrong again, it was in a pink/red/orange that was more sweet and sour almost than savory/spicy garlic sauce. The roast pork lo Mein was the only dish that made sense and even at that they were doing so much with it (more unnecessary diced vegetables). So naturally I think, oh maybe their Japanese food is where they will shine instead. I got 2 rolls, Negitoro (tuna belly/fatty tuna & scallion) and spicy scallop roll. The tuna in the negitoro felt pretty lean/more like regular tuna versus what the menu described as "prime tuna" and also my spicy scallop roll had crunchy tempura bits mixed in with spicy Mayo - also a telltale sign - if they're serving a mixture of spicy Mayo, tempura bits, & whatever fish you selected, the fish isn't that fresh so they're giving you these other flavors to latch on to. But if that's not convincing enough, the ikura/salmon roe nigiri I had definitely wasn't fresh. It had a really fishy taste/smell to it. The squid nigiri I got was the best of the sushi I received. I will say nothing made me sick but none of it was authentic or even close to a good Americanized version of the dishes they are supposed to be. Will not be ordering from Fuji again. There are better options around Stamford. read more

Fuji is a sushi and Americanized Chinese restaurant with the typical Americanized Chinese dishes as well as some dishes you would find in an authentic Chinese restaurant such as Peking deck and walnut prawns. I did not order any of those so I cannot say how they compare to other Chinese restaurants. They also have lunch specials which includes a drink. I ordered the duck roll and general Tso's chicken lunch special. The duck rolls were a bit disappointing but I wasn't expecting much anyway. The wrapper thick and a bit flaky with not much duck. It was mostly skin and didn't taste fresh. The rolls comes with a brown sweet sauce similar to what you get when you order duck at a Chinese BBQ restaurant but not nearly as good. The General Tso's chicken was nicely crispy, not over breaded, and was cut small. It's a bit different from the ones I had. Not bad but different. It could have used more sauce. Great Chinese food. I'm really picky when it comes to Chinese and it's similar to your average Chinese spot but the ingredients taste better (imo). They also have other Asian cuisine but I haven't tried it yet. They are a bit more expensive then your regular Chinese spot though. It's a bit cheaper when you call in to the store directly or eat in. Delivery can take a while and they will round up and expect a tip. Pick up service is quick. A place where you can get food fast and they have great lunch/combo deals. read more

I went into this Chinese restaurant without looking at Yelp which turned out to be a mistake. I was driving through Stamford and saw this restaurant in the downtown area and thought "since it is surviving downtown it can't be bad right?" Well apparently that wasn't true. This Chinese/Japanese restaurant was pretty bad overall. I ordered a lunch special of mixed vegetables with tofu and a miso soup. The miso soup was very good with lots of flavor and seaweed. The mixed vegetables weren't very good and lacked any flavor. They put the sauce on the side which was fine, however this came in a pre-made cold small container that they pulled out of the refrigerator. It wasn't good and it was cold so it didn't really make sense to use it. Overall, this restaurant isn't worth coming to and I wouldn't go back. Egg drop soup is always tasteless or has weird clear clumps in it. On top of my delayed order they forgot the soup we ordered, should have known to check it before I left. I recently moved to Stamford, and was looking for some sushi that I could order online via my Yelp app and have delivered. There weren't a lot of highly rated places offering online ordering, and after reading through Fuji's reviews decided to give it a try. We ordered a sashimi sampler and a few rolls, and everything was really solid, especially considering it was delivery. It did take longer than predicted, but not by too much. I decided to try their chinese menu a week or so later, getting the egg foo young, pork lo mein, and hot and sour soup. I didn't get to try to soup because my friend inhaled it, but the egg foo young and lo mein were both really tasty. Delivery was a little late again, but food was hot. I ordered a third time, with a third friend, trying some additional rolls from the sushi menu, the tuna bowl, and the chicken mei fun-- again, all really good, and this time the delivery person was on time! I really appreciated that the japanese and chinese foods were in separate bags, so that the hot food didn't ruin the sushi (you'd be surprised how often people aren't thoughtful about these things!). I'm glad I gave this place a chance. I will likely keep trying various dishes and will update my review if something changes drastically, but so far so good! 5 stars for the delivery experience on both menus. read more

I have actually ordered takeout from here about 3 times, each time from the Chinese menu. The menu's top, with so many options and great prices! The food is delicious in any way, though sometimes I find it lacking in salt or a lot of flavor. I haven't tried the Japanese menu but can note that it is extensive. (I like that for takeout they use aluminum rather than plastic, somewhat more environmental and useful for me). They did a good job with covid safety rules, which is appreciated. Good delivery! We ordered on a Sunday night around 8pm online through YelpEats app. Took about 35-40 minutes for our food to come and it was steaming hot. We both got combination plates with fried rice and egg roll included. Portions were good size (enough for two meals for me). I would say prices are a little more expensive than other places in Stamford however you are getting tasteful Chinese food and portion was big. I've been meaning to write a review about this place for about a month now and haven't found the time until this moment to do so. I stopped in here on a Saturday night right before closing with a few friends. It was clear that they were closing up shop soon and we would be preventing them from doing that if we ordered. We were tired and needed food. Not many places were open so we were stuck between a rock and a hard place. So were the store owners. We sat and ordered. The staff were great and efficient. That being said, I have ordered from Fuji in the last year about 30 times (once a week). Two weeks ago I ordered a poké bowl as per usual and it is normally amazing! This time I had a hair in my food, it happens. Gross, but it happens. So I called and was very calm, I told them I don't need another one but I wanted to let them know because normally everything is amazing. The receptionist replied when I told her " really!? Because i made the bowl myself and that's not possible. Can you send me a photo?" Which I did. She called back and apologized and said she would credit us the one poké bowl back. The vegetable dumplings were actually not bad, but one strangely squirted tons of water when I bit into it. This review is for their sushi and apps only! I've ordered and been to this restaurant many times, as it's close to my job and my apartment. They are very quick and reliable when it comes to delivery and takeout (if you put special instructions, 9 of 10 you will get what you asked for). I enjoy their sushi and have gotten their special rolls many times, my favorite being the tuna lover roll. Their spicy tuna bowl app is very tasty as well. I am updating this in response to the "review" by "P C." As a neighbor to the restaurant, I was witness to her recent visit, and need to add perspective on her vicious act of accusing them of gross wrong-doing. To say the family that runs Fu Ji is unethical is deplorable and incorrect. Sure, leave a bad review if your delivery was late, or you just really didn't like the food. But for some reason, PC sees the need to continue her torture long after she left. PC showed up drunk and proceeded to make a scene at the restaurant, even though the owners of FuJi had kept the place open late for her. She demanded change on money she never gave them (who knows, maybe she was seeing double). Then, she claims "racism" but uses the "you no rob my shop" line?! Really, girl?! That says a lot about you right there. The family calmly accepted her rudeness, until her ranting began and she falsely accused them of stealing. They were the ones to call the police, feeling threatened by her. I think all of the wonderful reviews, repeat customers, and my own witness to how they treat even their most obnoxious diners speaks to just how honest, accommodating, and kind the owners are.
