Bunkers are in desperate need of sand. For some reason my ball finds a lot of bunkers on this course. Almost every one I hit out of, I end up with clay on my club. Most bunkers are lucky if they have an inch of sand in the middle of them. Also the golfers that play here don't seem to know they need to rake them after hitting their ball out. I saw one person parking his pull cart right on the green. Not good. read more

Little driveway that leads you back in front of the grand stands for horse racing. Pro shop was stocked for being small but not crowded stocked. Great selection of drinks to take with you. I highly suggest a Gatorade or water. Be sure to grab a score card so you can keep track of the map of holes. As someone stated in another review there is very limited shade. You play 9 then re-round for another to make your full 18. Very reasonable prices which is why we chose to try this course as my first actual play golf experience. The older gentleman in the shop was extremely friendly and let us know about a program for children getting into golf. It is a great course not overly challenging for a beginner and probably relaxing for those who wanting a slow leisurely pace. Most are Par 3's. Bring a hat and sunscreen and enjoy yourself. read more

Very disrespectful , does not know how to confront beginners . Even though he spoke to use about it as we were playing for hitting 2 balls instead of one . He came out at the end to let us know not to come back . Had no respect and demanded us to respect the 4-5 Guys behind us. Not Latino friendly . He thinks it's the 1960 where he can disrespect colored people . Can't own up to the way he treated us so don't expect nothing less . read more

While the course is clearly for a beginner level, it is in good shape and there are some challenging holes like the third and ninth. The 8th is 320 yards long, the only hole requiring a driver. practice area with bunkers is now reopened. Not a bad place to practice. read more

Surprisingly fun 9 holes in the middle of the horse track. Pretty cool idea. Pricing was great and dude working there was beyond friendly. The course is mostly Par 3's. Perfect for beginners. Will be coming back for sure. read more

Nice executive course. Wanted to play a quick 9 before wine tasting; the real reason I am in the area! Had trouble finding the place. Very nice policeman helped with directions. Later realized I just needed to look for signs. Golf course in good condition. Much much better than Mount St Helena; played that the day before. Greens were in great conditions. This place, as it turns out, is not a bad result. The service is above average. It has a great location, right there just south of Santa Rosa. This is a great place to practice your short game. They also have covered stalls at the driving range plus upgraded lighting.

It is really hard to beat this place. Cheap, and really fun. The greens are some of the best I've played in the area. Better than Oakmont even. The track is a 9 hole course in the middle with mostly executive distances and 2 Par 4's. No shade from trees is the only negative I can think of. I like a quick round of golf at the Fairgrounds GC, weather with friends or alone it offers a great round. For a small course the sand traps are better than some local larger courses. The greens are in great shape and can be challenging. Prices are great and they have practice greens, a covered driving range and pitching green. read more

I giving this 2 stars because it was pretty cheap an the horse race track was cool. Besides that the range mats are so bad couldn't even hit off of them. an the range is alright yardage is off to chipping area is nice an putting area is ok but I would never come there again to the range :/ read more

This is a great practice course, especially for beginning and novice golfers. Most holes have you going for the flag from the tee. Not crowded so you can hit practice shots at each hole. Driving range and pitching-putting green are nice. Bring a hat or sunscreen, no shade to be had. Prices are great. read more

Came here from out of town to use the practice range. It is a tough place to find with one-way streets and in the middle of the horse racing track at Sonoma County Fair Grounds. I hit practice balls off the provided mats. Some are covered, some are not. I used the covered one and it was dry. Quite the miracle given all of the rain we had recently. There were rubber tees provided, although I ended up using of of my own taller rubber tee for my driver. The best part was the very friendly man behind the desk He made me feel very welcome. And I had short but positive interaction with some of the other people on the practice tees. This appears to be a no pretense golf course. It was a good practice session. read more
