Tasty Taqueria! Stopped by here after grabbing a coffee at Builder Coffee after seeing they had breakfast burritos. Walked in right as they were opening at 10 and I got to see the grill master at work setting things up with the charcoal fire. Honestly was a one man wrecking crew as he prepared the meats, sliced veggies, and put out the salsas while making our two burritos. My carne asada steak breakfast burrito was packed with eggs, meat, beans and cheese and I wolfed it down with a side of tasty Chipotle salsa. Wife's chorizo burrito was just as good and it was great to have the fresh pico and sliced onion to balance it out. Mi gusta!

It was a lovely small taco shop next to the chase field. We went there right when they opened in the morning. I ordered the breakfast burrito with chorizo, which was pretty flavorful. Their salsa at the sauce bar went so well with the burrito too!

Man.. wanted some authentic tacos.. got off Airplane and looked on yelp decided to give this place a go.. as I like to stay away from chain restaurants if possible.. so when pulled in knew it was gonna be good.. cooked over a hot bed of coals and man was it good!!! Hands down best tacos ever.. and the toppings bar was great with pico, pickled onion and such.. go see this dude I promise you won't be disappointed!!

Great little stop for lunch. Had two delicious asada tacos on corn tortillas. Partner had a caramelo that she enjoyed as well. Along with a Mexican Coke. There is a free salsa bar that had a variety of salsas, an avocado salsa, cabbage, red onions, limes, and peppers. My partner liked the red salsa best, but I was partial to the roasted pepper one that's more brownish and chunky. We both loved the avocado salsa; despite her allergies, my partner gave it a try. There is very limited indoor seating which is part of why I gave only four stars -- the other part being that the menu is limited and there was no cilantro. HOWEVER, what they do have and what we had was delicious. I'd give 4.5 stars if possible. The taste was unmatched. I've lived in AZ my whole life and had tacos across the state; these take the cake. Will be back. The man behind the register was very kind and gave personal opinions on salsa when asked. The ambiance is nice and gives an authentic taco shop experience with the smoky scent of meats cooking and music in Spanish. The space was decently clean and the salsa bar seemed fresh and at the correct temperatures. This is located along 7th street in the Warehouse District. We walked comfortably from a nearby parking lot, midday Saturday. The place did not have other patrons except for us while we were there, but they have plaques of awards won, and the food spoke for itself. Give it a try next time you're looking for some great tacos!

OMG!!!!!! 100% amazing!!! Best place I have been and cheapest meal during our Arizona vacation! We found them from the Moon Baseball Road trip book and it did not disappoint!! We order at least one item from the whole menu. Everything was amazing!!!! We enjoyed the pastor meat the most but also got the steak for several dishes. The ladies behind the counter was super sweet. They helped us order, let me change my meat last minute, and even made our little ones meal even better by adding cheese!!!

Park in the little lot next door. Order from the short menu on the wall: it's tacos and burritos, friends, no chips and salsa or guac. They do have Jarritos and a couple of fountain drinks though. There's a single, dark, all-gender but not handicapped-accessible restroom (no grab bars, for instance). Top your tacos from the small salad bar. (Tacos, plural, because who eats only one?) A few tables inside and a few outside. The burrito is normal sized, but I was kind of hungry and wish I had ordered the Sonoran with beans. Al pastore was really good.

I drive by this place everyday on my way to school and have been dying to try it! We finally stopped in after class one day. They're a cute family owned business kind of on the industrial street of 7th. There's not much else around but they have indoor and outdoor seating. The inside was smaller than I expected. They have a very small menu with street tacos (flour or corn tortillas), burritos, breakfast burritos, and one other thing on the hard shell (do not remember the name) tortas I believe. My friend and I got a burrito and two tacos and then shared. I had both the chicken and beef tacos (the only other meat option is pork). The chicken tacos were better in my opinion. They also only come with the large tortilla and the meat. They have a little bar on the side that has pico, lettuce, multiple salsas and jalapeños. I love that you can put everything on yourself! The burrito we got chicken in and it also has, cheese, beans, and rice. It was super good, a nice size not too big. I will say I got like two bites of sketchy chicken (the cartilage) that I did not enjoy hence the 4 stars. The salsa options are amazing. Definitely will come back!

I was working downtown and a coworker told me about this place and said it was good. I ordered 3 vampiros which is a tostada with beans, cheese melted with carne asada on top. I liked the flavor of the whole but the carne asada was a little bland. But if you spend $10-$15 and your are still hungry afterwards that's a problem. And I was hungry still. The kitchen seems fairly clean. I will comeback and try it again!!!

On our way to the Phoenix airport we stopped to have a quick bite at a local taco shop. It's very intimate, minimal indoor seating but outside seating available. A handful of options, bottled drinks and a few traditional options. Parking is minimal...2 parking lots..one on each side of the shop. After you receive your order there is a toppings bar stocked with fresh toppings and an array of sauces/salsas. It definitely hit the spot.

Today I stopped in here on the way to a community building event in south Phoenix. I love this place. When I am in this area I eat here. The vampires are TDF and the meat is good and grilled over coal. The tacos come just meat and tortilla. It's up to you to decorate them at the salsa bar. I will continue to eat here when I'm in the area. It's small. Hip. Local. Quality. Happy. Gracias a Los dueños!

Great carne asada; and I especially liked the "Vampiro", which is essentially a tostada. The chicken taco and pork "little quesadilla" ("Carmelo") were rather good as well. Very small salsa bar; but what they had was excellent. In total, I really liked the food and the staff were really friendly. On a somewhat unusual note; I had a side of refried beans. They were really more of a refried bean bisque; but hey, they were great. Oddity being; they don't have any spoons ??? That's fine, I just slurped them down and they were great. If the owner/manager is reading this; possibly consider kicking out a few bucks for some plastic spoons ? Separately, note seating and parking are both VERY limited. As in 5-6 cars, maybe 8 if you count the side. There were four 2-top tables inside and one 4-top outside. Several people picked up To-Go items. 5 stars. Very authentic and tasty. As to ambience and parking/seating options; well, hey. You can easily imagine yourself in a small taco shop in Rocky Point back in the day, on some side street. This is a small, no frills place to get some of the best damn tacos around. We got asada and pastor tacos and they were SO yummy. I loved the flour tortillas. The parking lot has space for about 10 cars and we had no problem finding a spot to park. If you use a credit or debit card, there's an extra 50 cent charge. The salsa bar had a great green salsa and pickled onions, which I love. Next time we're in this areaa, we'll make a point to stop. read more

Authentic Sonoran Mexican dive restaurant with a straightforward menu that is on the North East corner of 7th St. and Buckeye. If it's authentic, it's goooood! I've been told that they import their cheese fresh from Mexico and you can see the meat being cooked fresh on an open grill behind the register. There are tables, both inside and outside, to enjoy your food. The tables outside are fairly close to 7th St, so you do get that road noise, but many customers don't seem to mind. Oooh I bet this taco shop got plenty of action this Cinco de Mayo weekend-as it should! This cute, humble little restaurant serves some of the best, authentic street tacos. Be careful driving by as you might miss it! Their menu is small but mighty, and has a salsa bar with the essentials. And be sure to top off your meal with a Mexican soda. read more

Definitely one street taco shop to visit! The menu is super short (great sign) and the flavor is there. The tacos are on the small side, but as in typical Mexican fashion, the fixins are fresh and plenty. Load up. Try whatever they have as a special that day, you won't be sorry. read more

Maybe I was incredibly hungry, or maybe it was just THAT good. Either way, one of my favorite taco shops that I'll be bringing my friends to. Service: its self-service. The cashier was patient with my indecisive self and took the time to explain what all the different meats were and which ones were her favorite. Food: oh my goodness. I stuck with street tacos and piled my pork tacos with all the pickled condiments and spices. The meat was flavorful and melted in my mouth. I also picked up a burrito for my boyfriend who couldn't make it. It was a spicy pork burrito that was hands down better than Chipotle. It wasn't as full as a Chipotle burrito, but what that really meant was that you could taste the flavors of the food that much more. They don't serve alcohol here, but there are Mexican sodas! Ambiance: small, not great for groups. There's some outdoor seating, but we went during a dust storm. Having grit in my mouth and food wasn't too appealing. Also, the washroom was gross. That's why I knocked it down a star. When you're dealing with food you eat with your hands, it's pretty important to have a sanitary place to be able to wash your hands. There was a sink, but no paper towels. Which meant having to touch the grimy door handle way too much. I'll be back. With hand wipes. Or maybe I'll just get a burrito. read more

Some of the best tacos in town! A simple menu to me usually means knocking a few select things out of the park instead of a bunch of walks and base hits. Very tasty aroma from the grill here and all the salsas are aces. read more

I feel it's hard to make a bad street taco; but also hard to make a really great street taco. This place has managed to do the latter. Simple menu, but quality meats and toppings all packed into a space smaller than most people's kitchens. I tried all three types of tacos; loved them all. Makes me want to go to more sporting events downtown just so I have the chance to hit this place up every time. read more

It's a real hole in the wall, which by taco shop standards means the food should be hella good. And it was! The meat options may be limited to carne asada, chicken, and el pastor, but they're all solid and for the price and speed of service it's hella value. The burros were good, but they were slightly less value at 6.49. I think the chicken caramelos were the best. It's a great spot to pick up a snack or meal, depending on your mood. Fyi- not a lot of indoor seating. read more

I had tried to come down here on Labor Day, but they were closed. I drove back to SD tonight and this was right off the freeway on my way home. I decided to stop in and get some tacos before my long drive. I walked in and placed my order for 4 tacos. 2 of them in corn and 2 of them in flour. They only have carne asada here so it makes your choice simple lol. $7.50 and I went to the salsa bar. This is where it was a bit meh. This salsa bar was depleted! There was no cabbage, minimal hot sauce (I had to turn the container at an angle just to scoop out a little bit) etc. I mean, I did get enough stuff to put on the tacos, but it would have been nice to have it fully stocked. Anyways.........a few minutes later, the lady bought out my tacos. I took them outside and dug in. Here is how they were.......... Carne Asada Tacos- They were decent. They serve them to you as plain as can be. Tortilla and meat. That is it. You dress them yourself. I put a little pico, a little hot sauce and a little avocado sauce on my tacos. The meat was definitely tender. It wasn't bursting with flavor but it was definitely seasoned ok. The best part of the taco was the tortilla though. I have had better carne asada, but these tortillas are top shelf. Both the corn and flour were awesome! (So far in AZ, I have had the best homemade tortillas...better than SD. The stuff that goes IN the tortillas is way better in SD, but the actual tortilla...Phoenix wins so far) The tacos were a little small but they did fill my stomach for a few hours at least. Service was friendly. The lady working the counter was nice and when I went inside to throw away my trash, the cook/owner? thanked me for coming in and gave me a big smile. I'm down with that! Great customer service! Will I be back? Maybe. If I was at a Dbacks game or something and was craving carne asada tacos, I would know where to go. Would I drive here from my house in Surprise? Highly unlikely. They are exactly what 3 stars is.......... A-OK. read more

On our way home on the 60 freeway got hungry so I decided to stop for a quick bite. Driving toward downtown on 7th St hoping to find something I spotted this hole in the wall taco place and I'm glad I went with my gut instinct to stop and check it out. This place is everything you would expect from an authentic Sonoran style taco. If you've never had Sonoran style tacos you should know they're known for using flour tortillas instead of corn. You will find this in very few regions in Mexico. The chicken was very tasty and tastes as if it was done rotisserie style. Their Asada was also pretty flavorful and they have a great selection of salsas. Will definitely come back here when I'm back in Phoenix. read more

When I tell my wife I am working late or at the gym, I am lying. "Hey honey, I have a Zumba class with some of the boys tonight". All lies. I am here stuffing my face. This place is a gem for those that love Mexican food. This place is a must. Pros: great, flavorful food and salsas. Great salsa bar. Indoor seating. Cons: parking is limited. Located in a run down area south of Downtown phoenix. Bathroom is dark and rundown and looks as if it is a place where Freddy Krueger would come get you. read more

We stopped in this cute little taco shop to try their steak tacos based on Yelp reviews. The decor was rustic and tastefully done. The you lady at the counter was very friendly and helpful. We had 4 Taco De Asada with almost every sauce they have to offer. The steak was nice and hot, cooked perfectly. The corn tortillas were lightly fried in oil which, held the generous portion of meat perfectly. Don't let the location of this shop detour you, or you will miss out on a tasty quality taco. read more

Being from Hermosillo, Sonora myself, this is the closest to true Sonoran carne asada tacos you can get. The tacos are al carbon style, so they use real charcoal. Ask for flour tortillas with yours. The place is very small with only a few things on the menu. But their carne asada tacos are absolutely the best thing on the menu. 4 will fill you up and they're only $1.50 each! Also, great friendly service and nice selection of salsas at the salsa bar. My favorite is the roasted salsa. I've hunted all over Phoenix trying to find a great Sonoran carne asada taco. I guess I found my place. read more

Nice taco spot if you are in the mood for some street tacos. I only eat chicken so that's the only meat I tried. I had 2 tacos and a vampiro. The portions were a good size for the price. A vampiro is a tostada with your choice of meat. I liked their topping and salsa bar. All the ingredients were super fresh and I got to add all the lettuce and pickled onions I wanted! They had varying levels of spice for the salsas and they went nicely with the meal. The food hit the spot for my Mexican food craving but I wouldn't go out of my way to come back here again, which is why I gave it a solid 3-3.5 stars. read more

Tacos Sonora Grill is now open for business. The neighborhood is rather sketchy and parking is limited so you may want to consider visiting during daylight hours. The menu is limited and the tacos are small. However, the carne asada is flavorful and there's a self-serve toppings bar to personalize it all. This is a very small restaurant with absolutely no seating indoors. Plan on take out in case you can't find a seat at one of the four small outdoor tables. Considering those eating at the restaurant are likely to sit outdoors, I would recommend they place a trash can where people are most likely to use one. The only one I saw was indoors. The prices are right at $1.50 per taco (two dollars for bottled soda) but if you're paying with a card, be compared to fork over an extra $.50. read more

Stopped in for lunch and enjoyed the tacos and quesadilla. We had the carne asada, chicken taco, pastor by far the best of the tacos and a cheese quesadilla. Pastor had the best flavor, others were a little less flavorful, but the sauces added a nice taste. The cheese quesadilla was yummy. Lovely folks in this restaurant. read more

I placed an order for a lunch meeting on DoorDash. It never came. I raced over there to get food for the meeting and the owner said he is not on DoorDash. We LOVE this place. The carmelos are amazing and the homemade salsa bar makes them perfect. We try to go at least once a month. They're very diligent on getting orders correct and since I usually order for entire offices, we really appreciate that! The two gentlemen that work here are very nice. This place has absolutely the best tacos in town!!! They never steer me wrong. Great portion of meat and you can chose your own sides and get as much as you'd like for the tacos or any other foods. We had checked with the staff who delivered one of the dishes: we ordered the "wild mushroom" side, but what we received did not look quite like it. We asked clarifying questions x2, but were assured, "no, it is the wild mushroom." Turned out, it was the mushroom empanada that was delivered to our table, which we originally did not order. The management did rectify the situation upon the conclusion of the event when we were paying the bill, but to us, it felt a bit accusatory as if we intentionally wanted to cause a huge fuss about the final total, which was absolutely not the case. The food in general was delicious. If this was a more standard dining experience, it would have been 4-5 stars just for the food. The service was very subpar, and really colored the entire experience negatively, therefore the two star review. I understand that staffing shortages happen -- fine. My family has worked in food service as wait staff for 25+ YEARS, so I am empathetic. The broth had…read morethat traditional taste and was very clear, they took the time to skim off the fat well, the appetizers were flavorful, service was quick. The egg rolls were crispy with mostly meat balanced with other flavorful fillings. The Vietnamese coffee was probably one of the strongest I've tasted, a little on the more bitter side, but a few sips and you're good to go. Yes, there's usually a wait since the place has limited seating and sometimes they even sell out, but definitely worth trying! Wasn't too loud and cozy atmosphere. Bring yourself something to do since there's not much to walk around in the area while you wait. Overall, some of the best pho, appetizers, and drinks in the valley with that traditional and authentic flavor. Also, it always feels good to support your local family-run businesses.

This place is really good! For a last minute stop it was definitely worth it! I would always drive by and seen that the place was busy so I mentioned this place to my husband. Glad I did, because I was not disappointed. read more
