BILLING ERROR I have spent many hours over the past few months trying to get this group to correct a billing error. They agree it is a nilling error, they've said the will fix it. And Esther told me not to pay the correct amount until they have rebilled it yet, despite their assurances that I won't continue to be harassed about clearing my balance, I continue to receive messages to pay the incorrect balance. I've even left a couple of voicemail messages with the 'Operations Manager' with no return phone call. I had no such problems with Southeast Valley Gastroenterology, but had to find a provider that accepts my new Medicare Advantage plan, so I switched to Sonoran Gastro. The sad thing is that I really like Dr. Chilicurry, but I can't continue to do business with an organization that is too inept to fix a simple billing error. read more

I had a colonoscopy/upper endoscopy done 19 days ago. He left a 10 mm polyp inside me because??? I still don't know why & have gotten zero response to the question I asked through the portal. According to every site I've checked (Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic, NIH etc.) that polyp COULD have and SHOULD have been removed. Furthermore, he told me the day of that he was going to refer me to a colorectal surgeon to deal with the polyp HE should've taken out... and here it is 19 days later and I still haven't heard a word from him or his practice. Overall, I am pleased with my experience here, though there are areas where they can improve. I am currently working with Dr. Kohsla on figuring out some gastro-related issues and I feel his office and staff have been pretty responsive. The only thing that is aggravating is that it's hard to schedule appointments for things like follow-ups. It seems they're very busy and can't fit people in for follow-ups. Dr. Kohsla's medical assistant, Zoe, is super responsive, however and they're able to still provide treatment and recommendations without having an appointment, which is nice. Another challenge I'm having is regarding the facility fee they charge. When I showed up for my procedure in June I was asked to pay $145.50 and when I asked what it was for, it was explained to me that it was coinsurance for the procedure and that the amount would be deducted off of anything else I could potentially owe. This was misinformation and the amount I was charged was for the facility fee, not coinsurance. The facility never sent this to my insurance so it's not reflecting in my deductible or my out-of-pocket max and trying to get this resolved with the facility has been EXTREMELY difficult. They won't return my insurance company's calls and when I asked for an itemized bill to file the claim myself, they sent some bogus document over that my insurance company won't accept. It has been four months of back and forth with no resolution. They seem to think I'm disputing the facility fee, which isn't the case, I just want the amount to reflect in my out-of-pocket max/deductible. Navigating the American healthcare system is always challenging. The doctor's billing company also made an error and coded my procedure incorrectly, which caused a huge problem with my insurance company that took months to fix. Overall, I felt like the doctor and staff were very compassionate and did good work. I think Dr. Kohsla knows what he's doing and is a doctor I can trust. I am also very impressed with his medical assistant, Zoe. I just wish they had more availability for existing patients and a more responsive and accurate billing system. If they nailed those areas, this would be a 5-star review. read more

The office staff is terrible! They kept me waiting 1 hr. past my appointment time when there was a room ready. I left several messages to talk to the office manager and never got a call back. Also, I wanted a second opinion from another doctor and because of that Sonoran Gastro (Dr. Adam Lowe) refused to see me anymore, even though I have an EXISTING CONDITION! I came with a doctor's referral that was sent to them electronically they had it, they acknowledged it and they still refused to schedule me. Why? Because I didn't already have all of my old medical records in hand. Let that sink in. A specialist referral from another physician wasn't enough for them to even put me on the calendar. Instead of helping, the front desk rep played dumb games, asking for my previous doctor's name and number -- pretending she could just pull records without my written consent, which is either completely untrained or disturbingly unethical. When I followed up (because of course no one called me back), she gave me a smug, dismissive excuse that it was the "other doctor's responsibility" to send a release. No urgency. No care. No attempt to help. Just roadblocks and red tape from someone clearly more interested in feeling important than doing their actual job. Let's be real: this office didn't want to serve me. They didn't care about my referral, my condition, or my need for a GI. The attitude I received was so cold, so indifferent, it felt targeted, and even discriminatory. They didn't see me as a patient. They treated me like a problem to get rid of. If you want real medical care, don't waste your time here. This place is a toxic mix of incompetence, power-tripping, and possibly racism. They should be ashamed to call themselves a medical office. read more

This is a long overdue review. I was referred to Dr. Kohsla for a routine colonoscopy in 2011. I had previously had a colonoscopy with another doctor a few years prior that was no longer conveniently located, so I switched to Dr. Kohsla. We scheduled my colonoscopy during covid and, for that reason, my husband was not permitted to accompany me for the procedure. At the conclusion of my colonoscopy, while I was still groggy under anesthesia, Kohsla gave me a brief of his findings but I had no recollection of what he said as I was still under anesthesia. I went home and within a few days, I received a notice from CVS that I had a prescription ready. I went to pick it up and it was like a $600 prescription for a 30 day supply. I was left quite frightened. What could be diagnosis be to warrant such an expensive medication? I had no idea what the doctors finds were and why I needed such an expensive medication. I reached out to his office and asked for the doctor to call me with my results and to advise me regarding the medication that was prescribed. After several calls, they e-mailed me my medical records. The office assistant advised that the rx was an anti-inflammatory and when I asked why I need a $600/month antiinflammatory...did I have cancer or something severe (this was a routine colonoscopy, not the result of discomfort or pain (I was not experiencing any pain), and was there a less-expensive alternative medication, the assistant told me that I didn't have to take it. What?!! I 'don't have to take it'? Why would a doctor prescribe a $600/month anti-inflammatory that I don't "have to" take. ???? After some time (like almost a year), with some inconsistent bowel movements, I called the doctor again to find out what my diagnosis was and to speak with the doctor to reiterate what he had told me while under anesthesia. They organized a video call for late 2023 (2 years after my colonoscopy). On that call, I expressed my disatistfaction with the lack of follow up after almost 2 years. Kohsla basically said that he had sent me the records and I said "But I'm not a doctor! I can't interpret those records. Its your job to explain it to me." When I asked what caused my condition, he said "Crohns Disease", even though I have never been diagnosed with Crohn's Disease and would certainly know if I was experiencing something that severe. We left the call there with no next steps. However, I received a bill for that video call for $161 - a call we set up because he thought it was sensible to advise his patient of his findings while they were under anesthesia. I should never have had to wait that long for results, had to be the one to initiate every step and have to wonder what was wrong with me for so long. I feel like I was just a means to a kickback for a $600 monthly prescription kickback. I still don't feel like I know what's wrong so I am scheduling another colonoscopy with another gastroenterologist. Hopefully a better one that follows up and follows through. All that said, I would not recommend this doctor. However, if you choose to use them, make sure you schedule follow ups (don't wait for them) if you want to know what the findings and next steps are. read more

Absolutely terrible! I was having intestinal issues and cannot even get an appointment until they receive ALL of my records, even from my last RETIRED gastroenterologist, which is absolutely absurd. Typically you can get an appointment and then sign a release to have your records transferred to them, which makes sense. They make me feel like they are picking and choosing which patients they will accept and are screening which patients they don't want to see. I've never been treated in such a manner. Good luck getting seen by this clinic. Go somewhere else if you can. read more

From check in to check out this team was thorough and professional, everyone was kind , gentle, and compassionate. Dr. Davis rates the highest....he truly cares and is the best ever and I've been through many. I'd never go anywhere else. The anesthesia provider Daryl Nichols , I absolutely loved, he made me at ease and explained everything so well also kind and caring.....he even chatted with me while we waited for Dr. Davis. Daryl truly goes above and beyond...your lucky if you ask for this team and your also in the best and most caring hands. I can't speak for any of the other doctors but Dr. Khosla is awful. He almost killed my family member. He dismissed all symptoms and was only eager to prescribed a medication that caused a life threatening condition and hospitalization. Also, the staff at this office called us and scheduled an appointment. When we arrived on the date they said they didn't have us on the schedule, so can't say much positive about them either. Complete Crooks!! I went for a consultation with Dr. Khosla and he did not listen to my complaints at all! He thinks he is the god of Gastro and bragged the whole time. Then I get a bill in the mail for $194. They charged me $414 for a damn consultation. My insurance paid over $200 and I needed to pay the rest for a freaking Consultation!! I understand having to pay my part, but for a dr just talking??? Doing nothing?? Then I find out they can charge different prices for consultations depending if I have a symptom. So if I would have shut up and lied and been like ehh my primary just wants this done... I would probably be paying $50-20. But nope!! read more

I had a great experience with Dr. Khosla at Sonoran gastro. I've been dismissed by previous doctor's in the past and Dr. Khosla listened to my concerns and validated them. He was very thorough with his explanations and steps moving forward. I previously had an endoscopy and colonoscopy with previous physicians who were dismissive, however, Dr. Khosla went above and beyond and was able to find the root cause of my issues. Dr Lowe has been the FIRST Dr that actually took time to listen to me. I followed him from his other practice and have been going to him for years. He worked with me to help diagnose my BAM, which is generally missed. Alot of drs don't even think it's a thing after you get your gall bladder out. I didn't present with all of the symptoms for BAM so it was tricky to diagnose. I always feel he listens to me and is very caring. You can't go wrong with Dr. Lowe. read more

My PCP gave me a referral to this office. I have lost 80lbs due to ulcers, hernia and severe acid reflux. I waited three weeks for the office to call and schedule an appt. I finally called them and was refused treatment and to be seen because I saw another gastro over two years ago, once and did not like the Dr. "it is our policy to not see a patient if they saw another Dr. who may be part of our company practice." They refused to schedule me even when advising that it was an ER follow-up. I cannot believe a Dr. office would refuse to see a patient because I saw another Dr. once and had no idea of any affiliation.they had no intention of calling me or my Dr. to advise of any conflict. I filed a complaint with my PCP so they NEVER refer another patient to this two-bit, unprofessional and maybe unethical office. Dr K helped identify my issues after running tests, identifying an underlying issue that has been plaguing me for years and no other doctor could address. I am shocked to the see the bad reviews. Dr Lowe has been nothing short of amazing for me. My previous gastro retired and I was so worried I would have the same bad luck as I had a few gastro dr prior. Dr. Lowe takes his time and you can tell he really cares and wants you to get into remission. He is also very active to answering messages on the patient portal and calling in prescription in an emergency flare. The office staff have always been very friendly and helpful. read more

I was a patient of Dr. Khosla for about 4-5 years. I was having digestive issues my whole life and was recommended to see him. He diagnosed me with Crohn's disease. He had me on so many immunosuppressive medications, corticosteroids, Remicade for years and I never got any improvement and he always says that's part of the condition. It wasn't until 2016 I moved to Michigan and went to U of M Ann harbor to see top specialists in the country. My doctor sat down with all her peers and took the time to review all my medical records from Dr. Khosla. Her and her peers all agreed I do not have Crohn's. She ran some labs and turned out I've had H-pylori all those years and Dr. Khosla was too arrogant to look at the bigger picture and narrow down what the real cause is. She treated me with the recommended antibiotic treatment and my condition got much better. Fast forward 5 years later, I am a nurse now and recalling how Dr. Khosla went about my treatment was reckless and irresponsible because instead of trying to find a solution since I wasn't improving he just kept prescribing more meds which lead down the road to brittle bones and had a fall where my whole shoulder got crushed to pieces requiring shoulder reconstruction which would not have happened to any typical person! He had me on corticosteroids for one year straight(Lead to Cushing syndrome which caused my bones to be so brittle)! Who does that?! We never prescribe treatment longer than 2 weeks if 4 weeks max. I'd see someone else who actually cares about patients and their health instead of just prescribing medications over medications to get kick backs from pharmaceuticals. Very disappointed. read more
