Went for a birthday celebration on 4/16. I ordered fish tacos. The fish was cut and deep fried into 1/2 x 2 inch pieces. There were 3 - 4 pieces of fish per taco. 3 tacos total. Another person had fajitas. The meat was very grisly, the shrimp was overcooked. Asked the "waiter" for more chips and salsa. He brought chips but never returned with the salsa. I went to the bar and got salsa myself. Sonoras USED to be a good place to eat. Not anymore. You lost 3 customers this day. There's other Mexican restraunts close by that's way better. read more

I was excited to try Sonoras when my mom mentioned there was a Mexican restaurant nearby, and this place was no let down! It's a great, cozy and welcoming atmosphere! Kind of small inside so I imagine it could get busy during dinner hours. We went on a Saturday around 5:30 and were sat right away, but we did get the last table! I ordered a pina colada to start and it was super yummy! It was a large size and a perfect ratio of ingredients! I also ordered chicken enchiladas and they were just as delicious (the cheese on top is the best!). If you're looking for some delicious authentic food check it out! read more

First, I've enjoyed eating here before. Tonight was a disappointment. The young man that greeted us and served had his jeans down, showing his underwear. The steak was tough and overcooked. The chicken breast was also tough. Finally, though we got ice water, our glasses were never refilled. The spicing was good, the seating was immediate. I'll try them again but hope they get back to the quality they previously offered. read more

While vacationing in the area, we stopped by this nice little restaurant, and we delighted with the quality of the food, the friendly and prompt service. It was so delicious, we came back two days later to eat here again! Highly recommend the quesobirria tacos, but go easy on the hot sauce until you taste it. Very tasty, but hot. As my brother in law found out by mistake. A little goes a long way. read more

Having lived in California most of my life, I know good authentic Mexican food. In 1.5 years in MN, this is the only edible Mexican food I've had! I tried the other place in town, and all I could eat were the chips and rice & beans. The so-called authentic Mexican place in St. Cloud - same thing - could not even eat the dishes. Highly rated places in the Cities, didn't even know what Mole sauce was, I kid you not! I used to travel constantly for work, so most of my career, I've eaten out on the road. So if I say something's inedible, it's BAD. LOL! So happy to have tried this great restaurant! I had almost given up on my search for a decent Mexican meal in Minnesota. I've only eaten here once, and will update my review after trying more of my favorite dishes! read more

The food is very good. Sauces seem made in house. The tamales are definitely made in house. The food had some light seasoning that make the food stand out from other restaurants. Definitely a place to go to again. read more

Hidden spot on the highway, but definitely worth the stop! The prices are affordable and the food is tasty. I also ordered a monster mango margarita (64oz) and it was delicious. You can tell they used a good mango mixer because it literally taste like organic mangoes. I also got the Mexican fajitas (chicken, fajitas, chorizo) single portion. It is a good size portion, but I wish it had more steak since I only had about 3 pieces in the whole skillet. I would stop again anytime for a bite and draaaaaank (drink). Delicious food. Got a gift card to here when I purchased my home and I must say I am very impressed with the food.

Good Mexican food at reasonable prices. Sonora's offer the usual selection of dishes -- burritos, tacos, enchiladas, etc. Don't let the number of dishes with "cheese sauce" throw you off the trail of good Mexican eats here. In my experience their cheese sauce is Mexican style crema, not melted Velveeta or Cheez Whiz. Their salsa I find good -- plenty spicy as well as flavorful with kick from pico de gallo ingredients. Their chips are of the sturdy kind; corn tortillas quartered or slightly less then fried. While I prefer lighter more delicate chips, I don't find Sonora's objectionable. I've eaten here cheaply ($4 for a smallish ala carte burrito) and not so cheaply ($17'ish for a huge dinner Mexicano Burrito, horchata, and flan for dessert). I find their value ratio (quality to price) is pretty high. Definitely worth the trip! Sonora's is the only place in Litchfield I've found agua de horchata, which is a rice water drink with cinnamon & vanilla. It tastes better than it sounds and these folks do it well. Only nit I would pick is that the large glass comes filled with a lot of ice. But it sure keeps the drink cold! I'm not sure if it comes with free refills. I may try to order it without ice & see how that goes. Service is consistently friendly & solicitous. I'd give it a solid 4-4+ stars. Only downside is that it can be a little inconsistent in timing; feeling slow or vaguely inattentive at times while at other times having a couple/few different servers checking the table within a few minutes to insure everything is going well. Interior is on the dark side in the booth area, but downlight at the booths makes for a cozy intimate feeling. The small bar area is considerably brighter. While Sonora's shares a building with a pizza joint, I've never even tried the pizza. With Mexican food this good, it's no contest. 'Nuf said. read more

We were super excited to stop here after not coming here for a few years. We were seated by the back door in the middle of a snowstorm and they had the door cracked open. It was freezing. The service was less than mediocre. The food was seriously disgusting. There were pools of grease and oil on the bottom of our plates. The food was drenched in the oil as well. To make it worse the oil needed to be changed.. it tasted old. We will never go here again. read more
