You do not need an appointment because all you have to do is call before you're ready to come and they will set you up with one of their employees. This is my second visit and I can tell you - I will be back! Some people criticized their decoration - it's a very subjective because we all have different taste, and I like that decor. It's very simple, but yet nice. It's not about their decor, but about their service. And I'm very pleased. The first time they were very nice and regardless that I showed up 15 min before 6:00 pm on Sunday - they didn't turn me away even they supposed to close at 6. I realized my mistake only when I saw ladies leaving and only two stayed (who was working with my nails and the owner). Today I visited them again. This place is a hit or miss.. more misses than hits. A trip to the salon is supposed to be a pampering relaxing experience.. not in this one!! You'll see nail clippings on the floor and dusty nail filers (as in the aftermath of filing nails and not disposing of the filer or cleaning it) The nail polish when old and gummy, they will still use it and then, not even the Kalahari desert heat would dry those nails.. I went to Sophia Nails on a mother/daughter double date. We made appointments for 9:30am on Friday and got a great manicure. They sat us all in a row, so we could gab as we had a girls spa morning. I think they did a good job - my nails were smooth, the service was quick, and the people were nice. For $35 you can get a mani/pedi, which is a great deal. I got a gel manicure, which made mine a little more expensive, but worth it. Gel stays much longer on my nails than a normal manicure. Overall, I thought it was good. I'd go back! read more

Stay away. I should have paid attention to the other posts... Was attended to by mail manicurist who apologized, because the female manicurists weren't interested in only giving me a pedicure. They preferred to make me wait, even though they were available. They even took another walk-in who came in 10 minutes after me. I should have left at that point, but i had someone drop me off. Happened to stop in while i was in the same shopping center getting my car fixed. The only pricing they physically had down was pedicure pricing. I did the royal deluxe pedicure and it was amazing. Deff worth the$35. Lilly did my nails and i could not be more disappointed....she literally rushed the process of doing my acrylics which made for lumpy/spacy acrylic, crooked nails, and uneven lengths. I had to ask repeatedly for corrections to be made. She switched me to another manicurist to do my polish and he had to go back and reshape and buff my nails once again. I am so glad she did let this gentleman because he did a wayyyy better job. The acrylic supposedly starts at $28 as does acrylic overlay so they definitely need list out their prices. This is the worst place I've EVER been. I walked in and the receptionist had her legs up and clearly seemed uninterested in my presence. I came in to get my eyebrows done and the lady who helped me was rushed and clearly didn't enjoy her job. My eyebrows were uneven and absolutely horrible. We came back to complain and she offered to re-do them. I did not want her touching my eyebrows while she was clearly upset. We asked for our money back and she yelled at us "ok!" And as she handed us our money she told us "now get out of my place fucking bitch" I couldn't believe the awful service I received, I will never be coming back. I used to like going there, even though they're hit and miss on how my nails turn out. I take my daughter and she gets the same manicure thing done every time. (Maybe a different color) She went without me and they charged her $10 more. I called them and asked them why.. The lady on the phone said she got coffin nails and she did not. There's no explanation for the additional $10, so I'm going there tomorrow to figure out why they charged my daughter $10 more when she was alone versus what they charge every other time that I'm there with her. Like most places the Asian culture can be different but once you spend some time in this salon you will return. I respect the fact that it is hard to find long term help on this side of town and most of these ladies work long hours and have very long commutes. I'm new on Yelp and decided to investigate some of my favorite places and I'm really surprised to see Sophia Nails has a low rating. I love the place. My daughter and I come here quite often for mani-pedis. I'm thrilled with my gel nails and I would definitely recommend it. Lilly and her staff always make us feel welcome. The only problem I have with Sophia Nails is that the waiting time is too long if you don't have an appt. I would rather they tell me that the wait would be 30 minutes if that's the truth. By telling me there's a 5 minute wait isn't honest if the wait is more like 20 or 30 minutes. I will definitely continue to frequent Sophia Nails. read more

I take my friend who is a blind veteran there every month for a mani pedi. He and I both enjoy the brand new chairs. The ladies here are very kind to the senior citizens and are always welcoming. I used to love, love this salon; however, the past few times I have come I have left so disappointed. Most recently, I asked for my full set to be shaped "pointed" and it was a mess. The acrylic powder was applied much too thick, the nails were all shaped differently and the polish was completely uneven and smudged because the polish did not dry well enough before the gel top coat was applied. I love the women who work here, so I tried to justify the experience...i.e. They were busy, etc...But I only managed about 3 days before having to have another salon correct them for $25.
