I had the pleasure of working at Sophia's for 4 years during college and loved trying every plate on the menu over the years. My absolute favorite appetizer is the shrimp & brie toast. An absolute must-try salad is the pancetta salad: served with a warm pancetta based vinaigrette. My favorite entrees are the brandy creme filet, the chicken mudega, the baked shrimp angel hair pasta, and the horseradish encrusted salmon. You cannot go wrong ordering any dessert! Sophia's has an excellent brunch menu, a spacious patio, and an inviting bar area. Sophia's is a "MUST VISIT" in Columbia, MO!

Found Sophia's after a big game because most places around Columbia had 1-2 hour wait times. We were seated right away and got our drinks a few minutes after ordering. They had a constant flow of groups so it didn't seem that they were ending their night anytime soon. Really decent Italian food and nice specials. We had the Horseradish Encrusted Salmon, the Smoked Chicken Pot Pie and the Ravioli Aragosta. If I had to rank them, the Pot Pie was our favorite. The pastry did not overwhelm the meal and loved the large chunks for chicken and veggies. If you are the fence about horseradish, then steer clear. The horseradish overpowers the salmon but it was still a decent meal. The pasta tasted fresh so would like to try their more traditional meals next time. Service was great and you can flag any staff member down and they were eager to help. Plates were delivered all at once by multiple staff members.

Sophia's new location is very lovely. Could easily choose this location for a date night or a brunch with the girls. Plenty of pasta options here. I had the Carbonara- going to try something different next time. The food and service was timely and kind!

Came here for Sunday brunch. Lots of good selections nicely presented. Not super busy. Good area for outdoor dining but not opened yet this year. Service was fast.

Visiting from Austin Texas I have become accustomed to a high standard of food and unfortunately Sophia's was a disappointment. When we walked in I immediately the noticed the strange paintings on the wall which was an interesting and odd choice for decor. I ordered the roasted salad with salmon and it was borderline inedible. The romaine pieces were cooked whole and came out drenched in out and salt. I love salt but it tasted like someone poured a whole salt shaker on the "salad" and then served the wilted leaves with a very small overcooked piece of salmon on top. The pasta dishes were also a soggy and did not look appetizing at all. The one redeeming quality was our waiter who was very friendly.

We traveled from St. Louis for a Sunday brunch with our niece that lives in Columbia. Sophia's isn't pretentious, as some of the photos might suggest. It's an open space restaurant, minimalist style dining. Our server was quick to the table and pleasant from the start. He provided adequate time for menu review but also knew to check in at an appropriate pace. He was quick with suggestions and feedback about the salmon horseradish, and empanadas. Of course we decided to start with the frangelica monkey bread and I assumed it would be good just based on its name. I was wrong. ITS SPECTACULAR!!!! A massive amount for only 3 people and we indulged with gluttonous delight!! Great job! The entrees were delicious and this is one of the only places that understands the thin line between crispy and burnt bacon. Crispy to perfection. We ended in the house dessert, forgive my faux pas in the actual name. Layers of chocolatey fudge with mousse and the perfect amount of ganache. Give this place a try! Great food, excellent service!

This is a yummy Italian/American spot, which is sophisticated and still casual. The atmosphere is welcoming and service has always been good. Everything we've had has been pretty tasty! It can get pretty busy on the weekends. - Asiago spinach dip (3.5/5): pretty small portion of the dip, and only 4 crostinis are included. It was good overall though, very tasty - Spicy chicken sausage pasta (4/5): seasoned well, and love the combination of flavors. Has the perfect amount of spice! - Ravioli aragosta (3.5/5): this was good, just a bit too creamy/salty. - Sophia's spicy buttermilk yardbird sandwich (4/5): this was surprisingly tasty, chicken was not dry, and had just the right amount of sauce. The side of broccoli with asiago sauce is delicious! Would recommend for a nice date night or a fancier spot for dinner!

Things started out well, the BF had a tasty Manhattan and I had a mocktail that was subtle and delicious, and not overpriced as mocktails often are. But alas. The house salads that we ordered were overdressed in a vinaigrette so acidic we couldn't finish them. And there wasn't much to them. Other than greens and fried shallots and pickled red onions, there was a tiny dusting of some finely grated cheese. And who needs two kinds of onions and nothing else on the salad? Then we each had a bowl of the matzo ball soup, which was ridiculous. Three matzo balls sitting in a quarter-inch of broth that was so unbelievably salty that we couldn't eat that either. We ended up asking for hot water to dilute the broth to a level of saltiness that was edible. The chicken was okay and the matzo balls were okay. A little gummy. But the broth was just awful. It all made me wonder if the chef had lost their sense of taste due to Covid or something. Seriously. I've had that happen to me a couple of times and all I could taste was really basic stuff like sour and salt. And our waitress was totally uninterested in trying to make our experience better. She wasn't rude, she was just indifferent to the fact that we'd been served two courses that we absolutely couldn't eat. Didn't offer us anything to compensate or even express any sympathy about it. We got out of there as fast as we could and made ourselves feel better with an Andy's frozen custard.

I didn't want anything heavy, so I just went with an appetizer and a cocktail. For my cocktail I choose, 11Eleven Old Fashioned.
