There are not enough strong adjectives to praise what Sophie has created for both the young and older dancers. We have been with Sophie from day one, when she had just one small studio. We have watched and been the recipients of her kind, loving, and generous heart. She has built wonderful studios that are a safe place for our children to not only learn and grow as dancers, but also grow into confident young women. She has continued to evolve her studios, offering new and current styles of dance while always keeping that personal touch. Her teachers are professionals in their own right and help our children learn, create, and thrive. Sophie is also able to accommodate every level and interest in dance... from the little ones just starting out (who are always the cutest on stage!), to older dancers with a true passion for dance, to the competition teams for those who love the challenge and commitment of competing. Having dance in my girls' lives and being part of the Sophie Dance family has been one of the biggest highlights of their lives. They are still constantly dancing in front of the TV, making up routines, and performing for the family. Sadly, our time with Sophie is coming to an end. We have been with her for over 20 years, and this will be our last dance recital as my youngest graduates from high school. I would do it all over again in a heartbeat. This review should have been written a long time ago. My daughter was about six years old when she started and is almost ten now. She went in with no training but we knew when she was small she had a passion for performing. This studio has not only trained her, and helped her grow as a dancer but they have created a home away from home. When I look back on videos from where she started up until now the progress is there. The studio is beautiful and the teachers are fabulous. My daughter has loved everyone one of them. It is obvious the owner truly loves her team, dancers, and gives back to the community every chance she gets. WOW! I can not say enough GREAT things about SOPHIE DANCE. It is already stressful to have a new kid and enrolling in different classes. This dance studio is so warm, loving and understanding. This review is long overdue. I enrolled my first daughter at Sophie's studio in 2019 in her Ballet & Hip Hop class. She LOVED it. It was the only activity she actually enjoyed going to and never not wanted to go to class, like other activities she was in. She continued going through 2022 with teachers Miss Rachel and Mr. Devin among a couple others. In 2022 we moved further away and the commute was going to be too much. I have a 3.5 year old daughter I wanted to put in dance and tried finding a studio near our new home and couldn't find a good fit so we made the decision to enroll her in Miss Annie's toddler class and do the 30-40 minute drive to and from once a week. We love Miss Sophie and Miss Annie and all the teachers we've had. If you can get your child into a class, do it. You won't be disappointed. read more

Our daughter's first ballet and tap experience was so special thanks to Sophie Dance and her teacher Ms. Tara. Our daughter is 2 and joined their summer session. She had such a great time in their supportive and fun environment that she talked about class all week long and looked forward to Saturdays. Sophie Dance has been part of our family's life for close to a decade, now! My preteen started there as a 3 year old "ballerina" on the reco of a friend. Sophie has really made something special and wonderful. Sophie Dance studio is inclusive and welcoming, the staff are the kindest most lovely people. The dance instructors are beyond skilled and teach with excellence, never failing to be kind and positive as they instruct. The administrative staff are communicative and go the extra mile in dealing with all the scheduling and billing stuff. My not-so-tiny anymore ballerina (turned tapper) has inspired her younger brother, who now goes to the most awesome boys hip hop class and looks forward to it every week. I walked in with my daughter to attend her first session at this dance school. My daughter was born 2.5 months premature and has always been a little timid. Not once did anyone ever greet us with a warm smile & They forced my daughter into a room without me and she was crying scared to death from being pulled from her dad. This traumatized her and we never returned nevertheless they refused to refund us the tuition or offer any sort of compensation. I will never go here again. read more

What an amazing studio! My daughter spent her Sunday mornings at the Atwater studio last year and had such an amazing experience. I love that they foster independence by encouraging the parents to go hang somewhere else. I know she enjoyed having something that was "hers". My husband and I were super impressed with the well organized, well run recital where she got to show off "her moves" she learned in ballet and tap all year! If you choose to send your children to Sophie Dance do your research about which teachers they study with - not all teachers use the same curriculum & not all teachers are well "teachers" I've noticed in the several years I've had my young kids enrolled that some are just young pretty dancers who have no teacher training or experience in child development. Miss Crystal is stern & makes toddlers sit and watch 1-2 dancers move across the floor while they wait their turn (20-30 min of a 45 min class) & uses stickers as motivation telling them if they don't listen they won't receive a sticker. Miss Grace never bothered to learn my child's name even after she asked her several times if she knew it and she very embarrassingly said yes but weeks later still never learned it. She also taught offensive dance moves without knowing it. Miss Sophie herself substitute taught my 2 yr old son's class and asked him to leave because she couldn't deal with his energy (which his regular teacher had been reassuring me she loved and he should be in that class- despite my reluctance). The teachers- we love - Miss Annie & Miss Rachel - they are attentive, sweet, and my kids are doing real dancing & learning in their classes. My kids are no longer enrolled at Sophie Dance for the reason I cannot look past - their safety is not important to the school. They leave the front door wide open which would be fine except it opens up almost directly to busy 3rd Street. This becomes a danger because the door to the actual dance studio /classroom has been broken for weeks and swings open when anyone comes near it giving free reign for toddlers to run in and out of the classroom (while waiting for class to start or while in class) & then they can run into the parking lot & street - I asked several times for it to be fixed - noise in the halls was significant - keeping toddlers where they are supposed to be was hard & I became increasingly frustrated after weeks I was told they decided they weren't going to fix it because they "liked the air flow better" as a parent of young kids that were in 3 classes a week I felt that it was an overall unsafe environment for my kids - I'm sure it's better tailored for older kids and Miss Annie & Miss Rachel are great. read more

After hearing the hype I decided to enroll my 3 year old in a hip hop / ballet class. The first day I walk in there was no one greeting anyone let alone showing us where anything was. I was then guided by another Mom to reception where I had a rushed conversation about 'no ballet shoes then try a box'. I would assume if you wanted repeat business you would want to make people feel welcome ( show where the classroom was, toilet etc ) it wasn't busy enough to excuse not doing that. The teacher was nice ( that's where my 2 Stars come from ) but you aren't allowed in the class. Whoever was at reception told us that we all had to leave ( my 3 year old had no clue what was happening and was struggling ) so bare that in mind when booking the class. My husband then went back a couple of weeks later and had another rude experience so left. There is no excuse for not being helpful , friendly and accommodating to new and all parents / students. read more
