Dr. Mann did a great job informing me of my options instead of performing unneeded and expensive dental work. Very nice staff too.

Dr. Shyba has great bed side manners, personable, and friendly. Majority of the staff are friendly, but there's an older blond women who works the front desk during the later shift that can freshen up on her customer service. My interactions with her has been less than satisfactory and I don't ask for much either, point is it's not what you say, it's how you say and it could be due to her age, but I don't particularly care for her delivery. Anyways, My initial experience was great, so great that I referred several coworkers who actually set up appointments and are now patients. However, I've decided to take my business else where because I've come to notice that the estimate given for the cost of procedures are much lower than what is actually charged after the procedure. On top of that, when I return I'm told that i owe more money. This is HIGHLY disappointing considering that the main reason I decided to move forward with any procedure is due to the cost. I hate to say it, but it feels a lot like the bait and switch tactic. Needless to say, I've canceled my future appointments and have gone with another local dentist. You might encounter something similar so be aware. FYI, I've discussed my experiences with my co-workers and they've noticed experiencing something similar. Update of review from 7/2015: Slightly more than two years later, both crowns applied by Dr. Mann have fallen off while eating. The fact that he had ground off more than necessary means there is much less original tooth than before he did them, though he left part of an old amalgam filling in one that he said he would remove. Nice guy, but worst dentist of my life, and I would warn others about having him do crowns or overlays. read more

Great dentist and staff. The office and dental team will go the extra mile for the patients. I for one don't like going to the dentist and will try to avoid it at all cost but I trust Dr Mann and his staff for my dental needs. I've had wisdom teeth pulled, cavities filled and cleaning done. Everyone has there good days and bad days, but Iv now been here 9 times for a lot of different work- and every dentist, hygienist, assistance, and office girls have been AMAZING! so I feel pretty confident in saying this will be mine and my familys dentist for life! I love them so much even if I moved I would travel back just for them! I, too, had a pleasant experience with the staff at Dr. Mann's office. However, I had a bad experience with the work he and other dentists in his office did on my front teeth. The crowns put on my front teeth in Dr. Steve Mann's office kept coming off. He blamed my mouth, which didn't sound right. After several years of hoping Dr. Mann could correct the problem, I went to another local dentist. Dr. Eurs, who is also in Soquel, took a completely different approach. First he studied my bite and made corrections so my teeth didn't rub on each other when I chewed. Then he replaced the crowns, making more room for my teeth to move, and I haven't had any trouble at all with the work he has done! My experience at Dr. Mann's office was a nightmare of uncertainty - I never knew when the crowns would come off while I was eating. My next experience at Dr. Eurs office has been the opposite, a wonderful fix. Though I'm still careful, I now eat without fear of my front teeth falling out unexpectedly, anytime, anyplace. And, all of the people at Dr. Eur's office treat me with compassion, I feel very comfortable there, and trust the work 100%. Dr. Eurs is fast, efficient, and caring. If you need corrective dentistry, not just cosmetic dentistry, I recommend Dr. Eurs, not Dr. Mann's office. read more

I had a fractured filling,and needed to have it removed and replaced.I experienced the newest dentist,Dr. Justin Shyba.He was understanding,compassionate and took his time with me and my anxieties. A little over a year ago, I called my dentist's office (Dr. Steven Mann) to let them know that at my cleaning appointment I did not want xrays on my mouth. I had refused them before. I told the office that I had an MRI to check for a tumor (possibly cancerous) and also had nodule on my thyroid and didn't want xrays, unless I had a problem. I also found out that a wrap around the neck to protect against radiation is available, but unfortunately, I was never offered this protection from his office or any other office where I had dental work performed. I also received a letter from Dr. Mann stating that if I refused xrays, I could no longer be seen there. I felt that their blanket rule about having xrays for everyone was cruel and callous. I was told by their receptionist that they would be open for law suits it they didn't xray. I would have signed a letter of no responsibility. I was reading my online news though Google News and found this article and sent it to Dr. Mann's office. The effect of radiation over many years is cumulative and each patient's health needs and requirements should be respected. I think that Dr. Mann is a good dentist although he could be more flexible and compassionate when it comes to his patient's and not have a "blanket rule" for each patient. I have sent him the article about the recent findings about frequent dental xrays linked to the common brain tumor. This is a quote from the article. Study findings were published today in the American Cancer Society journal Cancer. "Let's get the information out there, let's have patients and dentists talk about this and see if for a given patient, we might be able to reduce the number of dental X-rays they get," study author Elizabeth Claus of the department of epidemiology and public health at Yale University told Time. "That's the more important message." read more
