I enjoy Sorbenots many beverages in La Grande, Pendleton, & Baker City & really enjoy their chocolate covered espresso beans.

I really wanted to like The Press Room, but unfortunately my experience left me extremely…read moredisappointed. The coffee was mediocre, especially for the price. Liberty Café nearby consistently serves better coffee for less, making it difficult to justify coming here. What ultimately lost my business was how I was treated by the owner. After being a regular customer and spending hundreds of dollars there over time, I was abruptly told to leave because "it's not a coworking space, it's a coffee shop." I fully understand that a business has the right to set policies about how long customers stay. My issue wasn't the policy--it was the way it was handled. Instead of politely explaining the policy or asking me to wrap up, the owner spoke to me in a confrontational, condescending, and dismissive manner. It was unnecessarily hostile. There were plenty of open tables, I wasn't preventing other customers from finding seating, I was quiet, respectful, and continued purchasing drinks and food while I worked. At no point was I causeing a disturbance or creating a problem for the business. The owner is free to run the business however he chooses, and I'm equally free to spend my money elsewhere. Between the mediocre coffee and the disrespectful treatment I received as a loyal customer, I won't be returning. If you're looking for a coffee shop with better coffee and a genuinely welcoming atmosphere, I'd recommend Liberty Café instead.

My husband ordered steak bites and I ordered pork medallions. Our drinks came in about 10 minutes, and they were ok, a simple screwdriver and a lemon drop. At about 6:30, a table of 6 was seated next to us. They ordered drinks and meals. Their drinks came immediately, and the waitress was at their table continuously after that, being very attentive, refilling drinks, asking if they needed anything more. At one point, around 6:45, she dropped by our table, letting us know the kitchen was backed up. At 7:00, she said the chef had authorized her to offer us free bread and butter since it was taking so long, so we accepted it because we were starving at that point. Before we could get the bread and butter, however, the table of 6 got their meals delivered to them: 2 risottos, 2 steak bites, and 2 pork medallions. I could hear them raving about their meals, especially their sauces, and they had enough on their plates to share bites with each other. After they were served, the waitress came to us and told us again how backed up the kitchen was. At this point, the table of 6 and my husband and I were the only people there. Our bread came at 7:15, and it was 4 pre sliced pieces of light brown bread that had been toasted on one side. It was dry and had zero flavor. It was served with a dollop each of herb butter and cinnamon butter that tasted like cinnamon frosting. At 7:30, our food finally arrived. It was underwhelming, to say the least. My husband's steak bites consisted of 8 small, overcooked pieces of meat plus a scoop of cold mashed potatoes and what I think was supposed to be pesto. My pork medallions ended up being 2 very small chunks of mystery meat that had been breaded and deep fried with a berry sauce underneath, along with 4 very small, salty pieces of asparagus and a scoop of cold rice pilaf. For the honor of having these meals, we were charged $22 for the steak, and $20 for the pork. Our original plan, since we were staying upstairs in one of their hotel rooms, was to have dinner and breakfast here. After this disaster of a meal, there was no way we were going to chance having our breakfast ruined, as well.
