What a gem in La Grande. This market is a genuine Amish establishment. The sandwiches are amazing and fairly priced. But it your into making break your heart will leap with the options for quality grains, you can even get set up to grind your own flour. If you interested in trying sourdough they have all you need there. There is also a dining area if you wish to dine in. Outside there are these amazing chairs and swings for sale made of TREX so they last a very long time. This is a bucket list destination for any foodie! read more

Overall a wonderful experience having it been my first time. Staff were superb friendly. The turkey and jack cheese sandwich was delicious. I asked for wheat, but I was served white, which was fine. The chili was much too sweet for my taste, but the flavors were good. Just not what I expected. I wouldn't get the macaroni salad again. It was a little too wet for me and not tangy (which is how I like it). The Marion berry pie was very good. I'll definitely go back, but I'd make some different choices next time. read more

I've stopped in this joint on my travels fairly often for four years or so. I go thru on my way up the river where I does some business. Just grab something for the road, you know how it is. Today I does that, crus'in by in the ol' boiler, hitt'in on all eight, fat dumb and happy. listen'in to Retha on the radio and then think'in I'm need'in something to chew. I goes in Kafuuman's and I orders up a roast beef sandwich. Later when I stop to eat it around Wallowa, along the river, I see the "mystery meat" they made it with. Promised myself when I got out of the military I wasn't eat'in anymore mystery meat. This crap looks like it's made of plastic or rubber or something. I know what roast beef is supposed to look like. This ain't it. I don't piss away hard earned cabbage for fake food. I likes my food "real" same as a I like a cold one. It's why I don't go to Ft. George Brewery in Astoria, something they call lager is like this joint calls roast beef. It isn't real. You could have the two at the same time, be like being in a cartoon somewhere maybe. Now I'd give this fake roast beef to my dog, but I likes the mutt ya see. So's I'll just drop a dime here with a picture. You figure out of you'd eat this "mystery meat" or rather dust on down the road and eat something you recognize. I just x'ed em off my list like I did Ft. George Brewery in Astoria. What else can you do with chislers? Know what I mean pally. read more

This is my favorite lunch spot in the area! I love a good homemade half sandwich made the way I want and a cup of their soup of the day! I also love looking around their gift shop and buying some groceries. It's a great stop off the highway. It's better then the co-ops I go to in California. I definitely recommend stopping here on your way up to Wallowa Lake. read more

My fiancé took me here for the first time today. He loves it (always stopping in during his lunch) and now i'm a fan too! Their products are more affordable than our co-op back home and they also have great bakery food and handmade goods like soaps, candles, furniture, cookware, etc. Really good quality stuff. You have to try their pies and their cinnamon buns! read more

I've never been disappointed here. Not sure what the other reviewer is talking about with the "mystery meat" review. If you watch them make sandwiches, you can see that everything is sliced fresh. In other words, a slice of roast beef came off of roast beef, a slice of ham comes off of ham, a slice of liverwurst comes off of a tube of liverwurst. I've never bought anything in here that wasn't as advertised. Plus, they have a lot of items that are usually found in health food stores and many unusual items that are seldom found anywhere. read more

I have been a regular here forever!!! Love the homemade breads, pies, cinnamon rolls. The selection of spices are amazing, along with everything you need to do REAL home cooking. Try some of their homemade noodles...OMGOODNESS!!! I am always finding new things to try and love. During the Holidays I love the pepper jelly over cream cheese...put it on everything. OMGoodness such a selection of sandwiches if you want to grab a bite and go...This is the perfect stop. I love the owners/staff. So kind and full of REAL smiles for everyone.
