They have done a great job converting a garage into a coffee shop/cafe and it looks nice. And the staff were nice. But everything was served too hot! The panini - too hot! The coffee - way too hot! By the time it cooled enough to taste my tongue was too angry to enjoy it :( read more

Amazing place to eat and drink. It's right off one of the main streets in town, although parking was difficult. You have to park on the street or park a few blocks away. I decided to walk in instead of going through the drive thru. They have a lot of stuff to chose from. I ordered a coffee and decided to hang out in the outdoor area. There is a restaurant next to it and you can access it. The employees were friendly and helpful. They are also dog friendly. Will definitely visit again soon! read more

What a gem of a coffee shop and cafe in a super cute town! Very clean, employees were wonderful and the food was delicious! We got a bagel with cream cheese, the basil pesto egg panini and a side of bacon from the cafe. All were outstanding. 10/10 would order again. Ordered a hot tea, black coffee and macadamia nut cookie from the ice cream area. Totally would have gotten ice cream but it was a little too early in the day. All the flavors looked delish. Had lots of options for cones too. We will definitely make a point to stop here again if in the area. read more

I got the All Day Breakfast Sandwich. Bacon, Bacon/Tomato Jam, egg, cheddar, spinach, on ciabatta. I removed the spinach and added avocado. $12.50, plus $2 for avocado. Holy cow! It was delicious. This is kind of a yuppie scum ice cream place that happened to be right next to my hotel. The coffee was ok, I guess but it's really an ice cream parlor so bear that in mind. Large outdoor patio so on a warm night it can be pleasant out there enjoying a cuppa joe. Too many people to suit me though so you may want to opt for a quieter location. No complaints, necessarily, so five stars although this really isn't my kind of place. YMMV read more

We have come for coffee before but this is the first time we have gotten food. First of all, the service is very nice, friendly & helpful without being overbearing. You get you coffee and food in different areas. Ambiance is great with multiple sitting areas and mellow background music. Lots of outside seating & options. We both got the All Day Breakfast Sandwich which was amazing. The Tomato Jam really pulled everything together. Yea, it sounds a little weird but it was excellent. We both are trying to stay away from the high cal coffee drinks so got an Americano with cream & 1/2 shot of Hazelnut. It was perfect. Cutesy spot that is right across from the Landing Hotel. Perfect for a small breakfast or coffee or even ice-cream on a hot summer day. There's an open area with comfortable chairs and lots of open space. I had a breakfast sandwich which was good, came back that afternoon for ice cream which was even better. read more

Very slow service on a Saturday morning. Couldn't make some of the menu items and had to order coffee from different parts of the place. Portions were very small and expensive. Basically Starbucks with some different menu items. Went to smokehouse for breakfast the next day. Much better choice. read more

Delicious healthy food and friendly people. I've been on the road since yesterday from Salt Lake City and needed to find breakfast in La Grande, a place I've never spent any time in. I'm always looking for spots with healthy or organic food that is going to energize me. This is definitely one of those spots! I got a avocado toast with an over medium egg and bacon added which was all cooked perfectly and seasoned. I also got a matcha latte which they gave me the option of sweetening or not. This I particularly appreciated because usually places fill their matcha lattes with sugar and you don't get to have a say in that. My latte was good and the atmosphere of the space was enjoyable as well. The only thing I would change is that you had to order drinks and food in separate places. I wouldn't mind picking up the food and drink in different spots but it'd be nice to order them in one spot and only have to pay once. I would give them a 4.5/5 if I could but as it stands I gave them a 5 because everything else was wonderful. read more

Stopped here for coffee & breakfast sandwiches on our way to Portland from Haines, Oregon. Cute, independently owned place in former Texaco station. Right off Adams which takes you straight to I-84. So convenient if just passing thru. They also have ice cream. Will definitely keep this in mind for future purposes. P.S. our breakfast sandwiches were delicious. Coffee met our expectations. Stopped in to The Local today and ordered an affogato, a drip coffee and a ham and cheese croissant to go. Firstly we were cheerfully greeted by multiple people. It instantly made me happy and want to come back. The people working were quick, helpful and made us feel so welcome. The affogato was delicious, a shot of espresso served over your choice of ice cream, we choose rocky road..... sooooo tasty. The drip coffee was hot and fresh and they let me sample it to make sure I liked the roast first. The croissant was very good, it was tender and the ham was flavorful with good, meaty texture. Wonderful coffee, chai (both black and caffeine free rooibos!) as well ice cream, including a few vegan options such as almond joy and strawberry. I had the tomato soup with their delicious sourdough pretty much every day I was in town and it was so tasty and comforting. The service is really great. The ambiance is so cute. Just happened to stumble upon this place when we were passing through and glad we did. We both got coffee drinks that were good. Not watered down or too packed with ice. Amazing ice cream flavors! I got the Maple Doughnut ice cream and it tasted just like a maple bar. They had make their waffle cones and those are really yummy too. I loved the atmosphere and the retro theme. Highly recommend! read more

The Local opens at 6:30 AM. I arrived at 7:00. Location & decor is cute. I expected to be able to order a breakfast sandwich but was told they would not be available until after 8:00 when the breakfast workers come in. This was VERY disappointing. First of all their drip coffee is amazing! Straight up black coffee. I ordered the avocado toast with an egg. The sour dough bread looked as if it was cut from a fresh loaf. I think this place just opened, I guess that's why I'm the first to review. Great coffee. They had all the 'milk' options which is important to me....milk, milk, almond milk, oat milk. The beans from Mukilteo Roasters makes great espresso. Will come by for some drip tomorrow. Bright, clean, friendly and fabulous outdoor seating. The ice cream is really good, people are super kind and friendly, a cup of tap water costs 50¢. That's weird. I saw three groups leave when they heard water cost fifty cents. I recommend finding a cheaper water cup and making it free. Live music was a nice touch tonight too, but people were leaving to drink water from their water bottles in the car (I heard a family talking about this) because of the 50¢ water. You've only been open for a year, you don't need people talking about 50¢ water when they should be talking about coffee and ice cream. read more

We got the Huxbee (coke, cherry, coconut, and cream), peanut butter crisper (peanut butter and chocolate Rice Krispie) and stuffed Rice Krispie (either marshmallows and caramel). Everything was wonderful! The cream drink was delicious and not overly sweet. The Rice Krispies were some of the best I've ever had. This will be a fun stop in the spring and summer when we can go inside and treat ourselves during a warm days when we are out and about.

One of em' walked right by in front of me and told another one someone needed help at the deli case. That someone came over, ignored me and gave some short guy who had just come in a piece of pizza. I lefted outta there. It's a buyers market. Convenience and speed are what these joints are supposed to be about. When they aren't why bother eh? There was a sign out front said they were hiring for all shifts, they best leave it up. Good help is hard to find, obviously.
