    Kale Salad

Great food! They did not have any gluten free bread on the day i visited so I reluctantly ordered the kale salad. I am not normally a kale lover but this was delicious. Awesome vinaigrette dressing that made the kale very tender and flavorful, not at all bitter. Also included were apples, hazelnuts, salami and goat cheese. Yum! I also had a very good iced honey lavender oat milk latte. My son had the turkey panini and was also pleased with his choice. Nice local cafe in a historic building, plenty busy when we were there.

Super cute coffee shop downtown right next to the theater. It is easy to miss. The layout is pretty open and there's plenty of seating. The employees are so nice. They offer lunch items and pastries. I ordered the cinnamon roll and a honey lavender latte. They do not have a lot of syrup options. When I went, they only had vanilla, caramel and honey lavender. The employee recommended a honey lavender latte which I ordered. It's very sweet and I enjoyed it. It can get pretty busy depending on the time of day. The cinnamon tastes very good and they may have been homemade. I probably wouldn't order coffee again due to limiting coffee syrups but I would like to check out their food next time.

We stopped here for lunch on our way thru town. Our first impression was: This is a nice clean place. My wife had the chili crisp salad with avocado and I the turkey panini. We sit outside and watch the world go by. The food was tasty. Everything tastes better outside. The coffee was outstanding. Very friendly small town service rounded the experience up. I definitely can recommend this place.

Stopped here twice on a visit to La Grande for a wedding. Such a sweet spot with great coffee and pastries/food. Highly recommend!

We were in town for a couple days and wanted to get out and about and saw this place was open for breakfast. No surprise that the hot beverages were good. It's a cute little place with nice staff and a clean restroom. What we really enjoyed though were the breakfast sandwiches. They just put their little spin on them to make them just a little better than you're used to. Souffle style with the eggs for the win! It really did make a difference in both taste and texture, but they also use different cheeses and super soft buns and such to kick it up a notch. Would definitely say to stop in for a simple, but nice breakfast if you're in the area.

Enroute to Pacific Northwest from SE Oregon, pulled into town and took shelter during a short downpour in this adorable place. Nice artwork on the walls, interesting plant specimens - and mouthwatering aromas. Friendly people working the counter. We ordered Die Chards and they were very tasty and rich, I think we could have split one. Good coffee. Left with a slice of rye carrot cake and a uniquely flavored blueberry/cardamom bun for later... Would be a nice place to meet up with friends if we were locals.

Was greeted by a kind barista that was sure to make sure we know all of our options. She was happy to share knowledge about the area as well. This cafe has unique pastries and apparently a breakfast so good that they were sold out! Their chai latte was spicy and not overly sweet, and their house made honey and lavender syrup was spectacularly balanced in an iced latte. We tried the special miso chicken salad sandwich they had and it came with a TASTY side of beets and of course chips. The sandwich was unique and well balanced. This place is a gem!

The bar is long, with pictures of all the Pendleton Round-Up lining one wall. The place is a fascinating time capsule. Way in the back, beyond the bar and the pool table, a very small dining room with counter service and several humble booths are tucked away next to the kitchen. It's old, and proud of it. I've only eaten there twice; I once had a great breakfast there many years ago with my son. The portions were generous, the service was excellent, and as American style breakfasts go, it was about as good as they get. It's not "inspired food." It's the standard stuff, and there's something comforting about that. It's Americana at it's best. The second time was my birthday, and again, I was there with my son. It was evening. When we got there, we were the only ones occupying the cafe. It looked exactly as it had 20-plus years ago. My son ordered a hamburger and fries. Again, no trendy toppings or fuss, just very fresh, very well prepared hearty fare...exactly what we were looking for. I had their "famous" fried chicken. it was without hesitation, some of the best I'd ever tasted. It came with jo-jos, a salad, and garlic bread. It was all excellent, and almost too much food. If you enjoy old school dining in a small town cafe, it's going to be hard to beat the Rainbow Cafe and Bar.

The whole place is well decorated, pretty cozy, and definitely got a vibe to it of a local place. Service: everyone was fine and friendly, we were friendly to them as we could tell on the Sunday night it was just the two folks and they were doing their best. Drinks and food: the drinks were strong but good, the food was excellent. We got the chicken and it's definitely enough to split with someone, and the French dip which my husband said was meh. The potato jojos were huge but tasty. Over all very well worth the visit! A nice historic place and experience.
