I have several bikes, I buy new toys frequently and it was disappointing to come across that "used car salesman" mentality from years ago. Wanted to update my review because I had talked to a manager and then he put me in touch with Jannel and... So far, she's been really responsive and helpful and had mentioned she would waive any sort of doc fee on my purchase. But then, they gave me a lower offer for my trade-in. So, I listed my bike and waiting for that to sell before my purchase. All in all a MUCH better experience but I'm just a bit gunshy since it's out of state and have to talk with the DMV to make sure I don't have any problems buying out of state. But much better than my initial contact AND would rather deal with them than Cascade Moto Beaverton (a place that's really gone downhill over the past year, ever since they got bought out by Motos America). read more

Huge shout out to Wayne Elston. Yesterday I bought my second motorcycle from him. Got my first one waaay back in 2005 and it was time to upgrade. The entire team was awesome from start to finish. Got a nice visit from the GM and a hearty congratulations from everyone there. It was a good time all around. I got a better than expected deal. It was fair but some of the slack benefitted me rather than them and that's a big deal in today's market. I walked away feeling like a king. Wayne though, he remembered me from 18 years ago! took my multistrada in for diagnostics, found the wire that goes through the flange was bad. Got it back still no start. Pulled the pump out to test the pump itself, found it not put back together. The regulator was hangin, the found wasn't secured, all the clips were hanging out in the tank. Wouldn't recommend this place for your bike repairs read more

If you're buying new or used and you don't visit SoSo you are making a mistake I'm so glad I took the time to visit SoSo cycles. Although I haven't purchased a bike yet, it was an amazing shopping experience. My sales associate was Jon B. and I was super impressed by how knowledgeable he was. I left SoSo way more knowable about the various bikes I was interested in. I had ruled out multiple motorcycles that I thought wouldn't work for me and Jon immediately pointed me to all sorts of interesting options including options I had dismissed out of hand. SoSo's used and new inventory was surprisingly large, so I got a good look at a bunch of different bikes. I was able to test ride two bikes. One bike I thought was a good fit for me but as soon as I took a test ride, I realized it wasn't what I wanted. The other bike I had dismissed and after riding it I found it to be a strong option. When doing a test ride Jon rode with me and took me on a set route which allowed me to focus on the test ride and not worry about where I was going and that really helped. I've done other test rides where the dealership didn't do this and as a result, I didn't really get to experience the bike to the fullest. For my previous bike purchase, not doing the right test ride led to a bad purchase. It goes without saying you won't find any pushy salespeople at SoSo. They seem to focus instead on giving customers options, trying to help customers make the best choice. They really took a lot of time with me. I found their prices to be surprisingly reasonable. I went into SoSo thinking everything would be super expensive because it was a dealership but that wasn't the case at all. Again, take the time to go to SoSo. You won't get a full picture of their inventory if you just go to their web site. There's something about seeing it all in person. Thanks Jon B. WARNING DO NOT BUY FROM HERE IF YOU LIVE OUT OF STATE! This dealer is not worth buying from because of their ridiculous paperwork. You won't be able to register a new motorcycle because of the dealer papers they give you. Even when spending over $35,000 on a brand new motorcycle paid in full, the DMV will not be able to process your paperwork for registration. It is not worth the trouble and problems you will inevitably face. And as others have stated in reviews, you can't depend on this dealership to follow through on their word. They will say whatever you want to hear, then never follow up. read more

Update: The service department is very nice and friendly. I appreciate the Service Manager assisting me during my visit. Also, the parts guys are very nice and helpful. This place is very nice and classy. The inside is spacious and very well organized; they have plenty of motorcycles, and an excellent selection of clothing and gear. The service department accomodated me on a short notice request, and I like that they provide you a copy of your bike's safety checklist. Everyone in the dealership was friendly to me, and no one tried to sell me anything aside from what I walked in to purchase. Also, there is an excellent guys in sales who has a beard; I don't remember his name, but he helped me previously a few years ago. Also, the parts guys did an outstanding job of helping me with my questions. Really, everyone I encountered there was very considerate and helpful, and took a few minutes to greet me. From what I could tell, the people working there are motorcycle riders and they have good hands on knowledge of the products they sell (they actually use them). (Also, if you're there for service, there is a nice deli in walking distance, just across the street). read more

Don't have anything negative to say about this place, every time I go in staff is friendly and don't look like someone pissed in their Wheaties that morning like some shops. The parts dept always has stuff on hand for oil changes and other consumables, I did have a problem with some brake pads I bought there being a non fit but returning was not an issue. Only experience with the service dept was getting the maintenance light turned of an S1000rr, which they completed in about 20 minutes while I waited, price was high at $70 but I guess that comes with the territory of European bikes. read more

I am re-posting this review which I left on the "testimonial page" of BMW South Sound, I guess it wasn't consistent with their high view of themselves. I am rating my experience at BMW South Sound as a 2. Please allow me to explain why: I've only been riding for 6-7 years. I'm currently riding a 2013 GTL1600, I was previously on an RT1200 and the 1200CLC. I've only ridden about 80k, hardly enough to be respected, but a few more than the fellow who was waiting to replace his battery under warranty with only 1200 miles on his 2-3 year old bike. I am a commuter and ride year round. I travel out of state every other week for work, so I think I've got some respectable mileage under me, all things considered. Several years ago, I took my business to a highly respected BMW certified master mechanic (Alyxmoto) who regrettably moved to Calgary Canada a little over a year go. ...So, I returned to BMW South Sound for my necessary maintenance. The BMW South Sound mechanics are impeccably trained, I trust them with my life. However, I am rating South Sound as a 2 because of the pervasive, misogynistic environment. This is huge for me to put into print because I just can't let go how I was treated...and how I've been treated over the years. Plainly: I am female, I just don't count, somehow, my dollar bills must be pink, not green. Even the regular customers who are known by name to the staff are part of this systemic problem. I arrived early for my appointment and was met with an obnoxious remark: "oh- your crash bars are doing their job", without any questions such as: it looks like there is some damage, what happened? (bike fell over in parking lot while I was at work- I wasn't even on it) ordinarily, this wouldn't have upset me. However, coupled with the behavior while I waited, I've seriously reconsidered it. I was anxious to get on the road so I could complete my 150 mile ride home, my bike wasn't taken to the back service area for almost 30 minutes after my scheduled appointment time once inside. When it finally did get taken into the back, I wandered into the retail store. I had three hours to kill while service was being performed, so I browsed and asked why there was no women's gear- I was told the unisex sizing should be suitable for my needs. I then commented that there was only one "1" female T-shirt in the entire store, one that I've owned for over 5 years... no one cared. Seriously, female riders are a growing segment of the riding community. It is hard enough to find gear, but with advocates such as these guys, it's no mystery why Its near impossible to find PPE. Ok, no biggie, let's move on. What I found most offensive was how I was ignored, actually... dismissed, which... I expected before I even went back in. So, why did I go back in? I don't have any other options. I live in Pacific County and West Seattle, I could go to RideWest, but they are even worse. RideWests' lead salesperson said my RT was to big for me.... like I shouldn't be on it, or at least not riding it... folks I'm 5'8 and 135.... geesh. Back at South Sound, I watched many familiar customers come in. The sales folks had all of the time in the world to shmooze with their bestie boys, however, none could barely look me in the eye to talk... I tried, I am a decent conversationalist, I know when to be quiet and how to be engaging. One customer actually asked me if my GTL1600 was an automatic!! Wow, this turned out to be such a familiar experience...it was only 11am on a Wednesday-not a peak sales hour. I remembered why I chose to leave BMW South Sound and go to Alyxmoto. I spent over $500 and left feeling like I had done something wrong. Maybe I was being punished for my lack of loyalty. Frankly, I think I was just plain disregarded because I am a woman. Ladies, give it a whirl, tell me if you think you are regarded with the same respect as your male counterparts.... I suspect your experiences are similar to mine because I haven't given them a reason to dislike me yet, until now. Yes, I'll probably be back for my next service within the year.... just not happy about it. And Neil, I like you, this isn't personal or about you. It's mostly about the retail side of the house. read more

I was in the market to trade my Harley for a BMW and a good friend of mine recommended South Sound. There were dealerships closer that had what I was looking for, but I decided to drive an extra 45 min to check these guys out. As the 5 stars don't leave a lot of suspense - no surprise, these guys were absolutely amazing! I spent the day with Wayne and I was able to take the bike out for quite a while before I made my decision. I ended up with a 2012 R1200RT and it was definitely one of the less expensive bikes that were in the showroom, but I never felt like I wasn't as valuable of a customer because of it. From the sales department, to parts and service, everyone here was laid back, helpful and genuinely cool people. Will definitely recommend and continue my relationship with these guys read more

I've done business with multiple dealerships in recent years with (2) BMW and (2) Harley Davidson. South Sound was the worst hands down. Staff were rude and condescending. I took a BMW GTL exclusive in for service due to problems related to storage. I paid to have a fuel pump replaced on a 13000 mile M/C then I had to confirm they checked the fuel to confirm it was good. I assumed it was bad gas that cooked the pump because it ran perfect and had been serviced the day it was parked in storage. I started the bike at South Sound and the maintenance required lights were still on. I was told it would require another diagnostic check to turn off this light. After they charged me over $900 for service they wanted another $75.00 to push a button and reset a light. If this were the only BMW dealer in the State I would trade it in immediately on a Harley Davidson just so I wouldn't ever have to return to this dealership. You can measure a dealership by their service department and this place is a fail. You've been warned. read more

Poor service, I'm at 4 months and still my bike isnt fixed and it was cosmetic/ replacing plastic pieces. Wrong parts ordered by the dealership, installed and then say they will have the correct parts ordered....well that was over a month ago since I picked the bike up and still no parts. Dropped the bike off for a 1 day estimate and took over a month for them to get back to me. Missed the whole riding season. Managers cant pick up the phone to call you back. if you give them cash for parts they get those parts in 2 weeks but when they screw up they drag you along for over a month and say parts are still on order. Dont go here for service or parts replacement from the shop. Lawyers are my next stop if my parts arent installed in 2 weeks or less. read more

South Sound Motorcycles is frankly awesome. Brought my Streetfighter to them for its initial service and to repair some incidental damage incurred from a Starbucks down the street that same morning. Long story. The employees were cheerful and accommodating. Immediately made me feel welcome with coffee and donuts. Had places to hang my gear. All introduced themselves with firm handshakes. No hard upsales. Answered every question with good eye contact and interest. It's obvious the place is managed well and the staff enjoy their jobs. The initial service on my bike consists of a lot of checks along with an engine oil change. They did an OUTSTANDING job. Trust me I checked. The technicians fingerprints were all over my bike. They checked every bolt and screw. Not sure many other shops would do that. The paperwork following the sale was complete, detailed and beyond my expectations. Took the time to note every check and adjustment. It was clear it wasn't pencil-whipped. I'll be back later this week to have some minor upgrades installed. Bikes are supposed to be fun and enjoyed. Now it's going to be funner! They gave me an appointment that works around my schedule and offered me a loaner bike so I'm not waiting. I might take them up on that. If you're wondering, don't. CONTEXT: Visited the dealership for the first time after relocating to the area from out of state to have a recall on my BMW taken care of and completing an interval-based service. This was my first ever visit -- and this is the closest BMW dealer to my new home. COMMENTS: It's a beautiful facility - probably one of the best I've ever seen. The staff, to a person, was very warm, friendly, personable and seemed genuinely concerned about my well-being while I was there ['Can I get you some water?', etc.]. I also had a number of very pleasant conversations with several members of the staff while I waited. It was, in my opinion, a nice 'customer care' touch for them to have taken the time to spend with me [I've had experiences elsewhere in my travels where I was... well... essentially invisible]. The time estimated for my service to be completed was nearly spot on to the estimate I was given when I checked in -- definitely appreciated since I was waiting for it. Afterwards, Keith very patiently walked me through everything that had been done and offered some suggestions to save me some time and money on my next service. Overall, my experience was excellent -- easily a 10/10 -- though candidly, that was my expectation going in. Consequently, I wasn't disappointed at all. Will I be going back? Absolutely, and I say that without hesitation or reservation. Would I recommend this dealership to others? Definitely. No matter how glowing a review, there are always areas in a business that can be improved. At the moment, though, based on my single experience, I can't think of a one. So, all that -- plus the fact they're located less than 10 miles from where I live [previously, I had a 126-mile, one-way trip to my BMW dealership] -- pleases me immensely and certainly eliminates any service worries for me in the days ahead. Excellent service department; beginning with the email reminder of my service appointment. The guys were awesome and got me in and out of there without any hassle and even had a service loaner for me so I wouldn't have to amuse myself at the shop for 4 hours. Since this is my first BMW (that I didn't even buy from this dealership) the service manager and one of the guys in parts not only answered my questions but took me out and gave me a brief tutorial on 3 occasions. I have used several different service shops over my riding career (mainly Harley Davidson) and this is the first service department that has treated me like a customer and not like they're doing me a favor. Well, I took my Ducati in for its 7500 mile service, and they broke my oil cooler, and had to order a new one. So far it's been there for three weeks, and they still don't know when this part will ever show up. It's August, the best time in the Northwest to ride, and I don't have my bike, and don't know when I will ever get it. I brought my 06 Ural patrol to south sound to have the bike tuned-up. I made a reservation far ahead of my appointment, and on arrival the bike was gladly accepted by the service manager. Three days after dropping off the Ural, I was taken aback by a phone call from south sound. The gentleman would not identify himself by name, only that he was a service tech at south sound. The service tech than delivered a barrage of disparaging comments and insults, suggesting that I learn to ride the bike better and fix my own "crap". This is a bummer because south sound is only one of two Ural repair shops in wa state. The service tech was exceedingly rude, which caught me off guard as my previous experiences with south sound had been helpful. I have three other BMW motorcycles that I had previously brought to south sound, good thing I've learned to fix them on my own ;). read more

I've been to a lot of motorcycle service centers over the past 25 years of riding, some good, some bad. The folks at South Sound blew me away when I decided to roll my F800ST in to determine what was wrong with what felt like loose steering. Scheduling a time was painless. At the appointment they took the time to fully understand my concern, they gave a good estimate on what I could expect both from a time and money perspective. They took their time in diagnosing the issue and finding the right fix. I suspect they will be my go-to shop for the remainder of my 800's life. read more

I'm from Mesa Arizona, I travel for work in Everett every couple of months. I find that the South Sound BMW makes me feel more at home every time I walk inside the doors. I have two BMW motorcycles, 2007 R1200RT and my work ride, 2010 GSA.. My wife and I love them both. Dealer still refusing to provide service to my motorcycle and said they only would do warranty work. This dealer not only sells me a lemon but then won't do any service to my vehicle and there are only two dealers that can do it in my area. Why make such a big deal about yelp reviews there not even trying to win the customer back and further more making it more of a headache to get it in proper order. read more

And every other BMW shop that I called (including your sister dealership in Seattle) was willing to sell me a key, I just happened to use Kennewick WA because they were the cheapest. read more
