I pop in here once in awhile because it's in my neighborhood. Stylish clothes you won't find anywhere else but don't expect them to last long. Fortunately most are priced to reflect that. I HAVE NEVER HAD ANYTHING REMOTELY RESEMBLING GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE HERE. Not sure what is wrong w/ the owner and staff. They get 2 stars for this and because they have a totally BS return policy. Not the place to shop for gifts unless you are 100% sure it's something the recipient wants. I was just looking up their hours for today & decided to read the reviews. I've been coming in occasionally over the last few months with my toddler and another pal. We generally just browse the shop, but sometimes make purchases. I get that having people come into the store and not always buying something can be frustrating for a store employee, but I think it comes with the territory. My friend had planned on making a purchase on this particular day, but opted not to because of our experience. While nothing was overtly said, I quickly got the sense that the worker was annoyed at seeing us (Read: no greeting). Granted this isn't a toddler store, it's not Tiffany's or Neiman Marcus either. I was on top of watching and following my kid. He'd touch things and I'd put it back, tell him not to, or pick him up. I wasn't dropping the ball as a parent. Clearly our presence wasn't welcome by one of the workers. Silent treatment, saying "careful", etc. I get that you don't want kids to run amok and "mess up" your store-----but I was on top of my kid. I know it's not a play place for children, but my friend wanted to make a purchase. The unwelcoming attitude and covert annoyance was enough to put me off for life. I've been here several times. I'm not the biggest fan of the clothes, I don't really think they are well made but they have a nice jewelry collection. I was given a gift certificate there for the holidays and went there this past weekend to try and redeem it. The store was pretty empty when I walked in yet they didn't acknowledge me at all. The two women up front looked up, made a face and went back to their personal conversation. I was never asked if I needed help until finally a different girl saw that I was holding a couple options and got me a fitting room. I ended up buying a dress that I like but I also didn't want to go back. The balance from my gift card was 5 and they almost didn't let me charge it even though I had no cash. They finally let me but made it seem like they were doing me a huge favor. Won't be going back. read more

I love Soto! Cathy is the sweetest manager and all the girls are helpful. I always find cute things here. Last week I found a cute denim duster but they didn't have it in my size. They called their other location and have one transferred for me in 3 days! I went in like 20 minutes after they called me and bought a bunch of stuff! I love how sweet everyone is there. Had to add the new Soto loca that took over the corner spot where Belle Gray use to be. I was in Eleanor Jean and Sweet Butter today so how was I going to pass up the man in the middle. Of course, I needed to stop in here and see what they were all about. They have a couple other locations but I'm pretty sure they relocated their Studio City loca to this spot so I'm not leaving a review for them under that address. This is a busy little boutique store. The prices aren't dirt cheap but c'mon what is along Ventura...??? If you want dirt cheap hit up the Jewish thrift store closer to Laurel. I feel like when you stop in these little boutique-ie- type stores along Ventura you have no room to complain about prices, nor do you have room to complain about quality or that they all buy from the same source (if you haven't noticed) and carry the same little shit. However, this boutique stood out to me this afternoon. Yes, I did purchase a denim looking soft cotton t-shirt and some cut offs and sure, I may have been able to score these at half the price at some god forsaken store in who knows what town but c'mon ladies this isn't Nieman Marcus or Bergdorf's - you know you're coming in here to buy cute, cheap, trendy shit made in China! So please don't get on Yelp and complain about prices - it's your decision to purchase. Most of the clothes are so, so - I don't see myself purchasing many apparel items - but sure a pair of shorts and a little top are cute to throw on for running errands on the weekend, Spring Break'n or hitting the beach in. I did however really like a few of their jewelry and accessory pieces. I found an awesome little skull bracelet and a super cute cuff - and the prices I thought, were very reasonable on these items. It is a retail store for fucks sake, you aren't purchasing wholesale so obviously they need to make a buck off of you. I think they have a great little spot here with a few cute items and lots of ladies buzzin' around. I really believe the trio on this part of Ventura is hard to pass up - you can pop in Eleanor Jean for all your makeup, girly needs, Soto for shopping (clothes, shoes, jewelry, handbags etc. and Sweet Butter for breakie or lunch) I will definitely be stopping back in Soto again to see what new little items they have picked up. 8/25/2016 Soto Sherman Oaks Calif Horrible experience today! The owner of the store treated me awful. I have epilepsy and she whispered to other customers and was rude. I was very excited to buy a few things before my trip to Alaska today. I asked for help, she spoke rude to me and said you will have to wait and took many before me when I had been waiting, she knowing, been in store before I can't take loud noise. I am a Healer in the community and fill myself with love and help many people. I am speaking out to others to know and her staff seemed shocked at her behavior. We are all equal and deserve the same treatment. I bought several hundreds dollars of clothes today and that will be the last time. God Bless You. read more

I really want to love this place, but I just can't. Generally speaking, I don't get greeted with a hello when I come in, which does bother me, especially after having worked in retail for many years. How hard is it to say hello? Their prices are always slightly higher than what I'm willing to pay for the quality of their clothing. Overall, Soto is just okay in my book. Got a very sweet and thoughtful gift from Soto, but it wasn't my style. Went on vacation the next day. Got home and finally had a chance to return it after the holiday chaos. Apparently they have an 8 day return policy so I was unable to exchange my gift. The windows at this store are so cute, and a girlfriend of mine had purchased a pair of jeans that she loved...so I went! Sweet, trendy clothes galore! I purchased a few things and was really excited about this new store in our neighborhood. I went to wear one of the tops I'd purchased and I noticed a small hole in the delicate fabric, hung it back up and I took it back to the store the next day to return it. A not very friendly sales clerk (which was a drastic contrast to the lovely lady who had helped me when I was in the store the time before!) looked at the garment and said "so you want a store credit?" I said I'd look around and see what else I could find in its place. After 20 mins couldn't find anything so I just asked them to credit my card back. OH NO...only store credit...I reiterated that the product was defective and that I hadn't even had a chance to wear it...like a robot "that is our store policy." I asked to speak to the manager, after waiting for her to pick something carefully out of a rack for another customer (clearly my business isn't important to them!) she came over and said the same thing, albeit a little more politely. Another customer in the store grabbed my arm and said "Oh, that isn't right...I'm sure they will fix it." Well guess what they didn't, and I needed to go so now I'm stuck with a credit at a store I do not care to visit ever again! Customer service to me is EVERYTHING for a small boutique like this...and this was not a good or fair experience...so unfortunate. read more

To me customer service is everything. When I walked in there with a girlfriend yesterday I was not greeted and when I walked out we both looked at each other and said how rude and cold those two women were. The younger girl was great she offered to take my clothes to a fitting room. But I'm talking dirty looks and cold attitude as I'm checking out paying nearly 200.00. I have been wanting to stop into this store since I moved to Sherman Oaks. The clothes is super cute and the prices are very affordable. I have to only give 3 stars because customer service was lacking. After I bought a tank and a sweater and spent $85 I left kind of regretting it. Not because I didn't like the clothes but because the lady ringing me up was rude, and I am almost certain she is the owner. The younger lady who helped me start a room was sweet, she never checked in with me on sizes or to see how I was doing but that's not a deal breaker. When I was being rung up I coughed and the woman gave me the look of disgust, asked if I was sick and when I told her I wasn't she said she now had to disinfect the counter. I thought that was a strange thing to say to a customer. I then asked if they accept credit cards only because she was handwriting my receipt which I haven't seen in some time, and I shop at boutiques all the time. I guess that offended her and she said "Yes, we are an actual legit business." A simple, "of course" would have been my choice of words. This review is based on my experience visiting this shop on 5 separate occasions. I always say, the true measure of a retailer is not so much how they treat me when I'm spending my money (although that is important). But it is how they respond when there is a problem. On my 4th visit I purchased something and realized it was two big when I went to wear it. I was outside of the return period but called and a nice woman (Kathy) assured me I could bring it back in. The manager on duty when I went back in (Shannon) was gracious and accommodating, I even purchased up on my exchange as they were so nice and I found something even better than what I was returning. I'm not sure why all the negative reviews and it's sad that women use yelp to tear down such a nice local establishment. By no means do I condone negative experiences but I personally have never experienced any of this things noted in yelp reviews, I was very pleased with their service and selection of quality clothing. I just found out they have one in Westlake village where I live, but I will likely still visit this one when I have brunch next door at Sweet Butter. :) read more

I have two college age daughters. Whenever I need a gift for them, there is no better place for interesting and reasonable sweaters or shirts. The women are warm and enthusiastic but not trying too hard to sell. A great find for a mother of teenage girls! read more

I love this store! Fantastic prices, great clothes and accessories. I have had nothing but wonderful customer service experiences each time I visit. I was there again today and only have great things to say about the staff. The owner Sue is a doll! Patient, enthusiastic and so helpful. The store was super busy but i felt I got the perfect amount of attention. Watching some of the other shoppers, I got the feeling that this location gets some rude, narcissistic, self-centered customers.
