I come in here on occasion when I'm At the valley mart. The employees as stated in other reviews are not super welcoming - there is an air about them they can't be bothered with helping me. I stopped by the store on February 29 to buy a gift for a friend's birthday. There were several staff members in the store but no one greeted me. I found a cute book that I thought would make a nice gift for a coworker and continued looking for a birthday gift. I found a few cute tops. One I thought my friend would love. They didn't have it in her size. I asked one of the sales clerks if they had any other sizes in the back. She didn't even lift her head to look at me when she said no. She didn't ask me I was looking for something in particular or if she could help me. So I set the book down and just walked out of the store. You need to ask for help in this store unlike Soto Lifestyle Affordable looks with a nice variety. Lots of accessories to match with outfits. Great place to find gifts. I often find less to purchase in this store than Soto Lifestyle. I think it's the vibe here that makes you want to rush out before taking a good look. It's really too bad too since it's a cute store! I love shopping at boutiques and had recently stumbled across this place while browsing on Yelp. I have to agree with some of the reviewers about the customer service. I didn't necessary think anyone was rude but more "not welcoming". There were no friendly smiles or "hi". I really had no clue who was a staff there or just a customer. I also had to ask for help rather than someone asking if they can assist me.... But whatever. The decor is very cute and the clothing selection is pretty decent. I have been here twice. I have never been greeted or even given a smile. It seemed like they had either preferred customers or a "type" of people they would speak to and welcome. This review is not so much for the store but for the parking situation. The parking lot uses Metropolis parking services and it is TERRIBLE. Every single time I go to this location there is an issue with the parking. I was there for ten minutes and was charged $7. Every time I go here I have to call and dispute the parking charge, it's a pain in the ass and a waist of my time and not worth coming here anymore! read more

This place is the worst. The worst customer service with a terrible return policy. I purchase a jacket for my girlfriend and while I was still in the store, I noticed that it cost double what I expected because it was mislabeled. I told them that I didn't want it if that was the case and they made a big stink about it and said it wasn't their policy to return things. I was still in the store!! The manager made an exception in this case and it took forever to get credited on my account. Then I bought two sweaters for Christmas. One turned out to be ripped but we didn't fInd out until after Christmas. They have a no returns after 10 days, be exceptions. I was four days late. They wouldn't even give me store credit. Super cute boutique in the hood. I happened upon this place when leaving the nail salon. It's a place I would always see and want to try but just never took the time. Popped in one Sat. evening and was so happy to find a place so close to me that had really cute accessories and stylish clothes. I also went in yesterday and the sales person wasn't wearing her mask correctly and her nose and mouth were exposed which was alarming as the coronavirus outbreak is still rampant and the sales people touch and fix clothes throughout the store. read more

Very unhelpful and rude! Kingfisher across the street offered their WiFi password so I could send a photo of the item I was considering to my daughter since cell service is so spotty over there. After quite awhile I have returned to Soto. I stayed away due to a really rude sales girl who was working there at the time and refused to exchange a sweater that after one wear had a hole in it. Long story shot, I have been shopping at Soto for years, and love their clothes. If the sales girl was smart she would have looked up my name and seen the record of all the purchases I have made over the years, which added up to a lot of $$$$$. Instead she argued, was rude, and no manager was present. I was so angry I left the sweater that I had paid for and wanted to exchange on the counter and walked out. I had no success reaching a manager when I called for the next three days, and my call was never returned. I am happy to say things have changed for the better! Ridiculous customer service! One of their tops, that I bought a month ago, got a hole in the middle of the fabric when I simply adjusted it. After calling and someone telling me to come in, the sales girl said she couldn't help me because she was following policy. Are you kidding me! Target backs up their product better than this place. Love the clothes, but their "policy" and staff have a lot to be desired! They also said they would call me back and never did. My family and I have shopped at Soto for years and usually love it. Normally I have a great experience but today was an exception. First I wanted to say that Jodi was very sweet! But that's about it. When I went to return a piece of clothing that was clearly poorly made (stitches were coming undone), the two women that were there looked at me like I was crazy. One of the women spoke so rudely and bitchy to me as if I didn't know the "rules" of retail. I worked retail for 3 years and we used to take everything back! I had the receipt and tag but apparently that wasn't good enough. I didn't get their names but the two women were blond and middle aged. I think one of them was the manager. The manager made it seem as if it was some HUGE deal to give me store credit, which she eventually did. I understand that I came in 30 min before they closed but don't be disrespectful to the customers. read more

There are two Sotos right next to each other, Soto and Soto Lifestyle. I love Soto Lifestyle! It's the one with the step up to the store. It's a great place for a quick trendy fashion fix and perfect for a little gift. Everyone there is really nice and friendly. I buy lots of stuff there. Soto, next door, on the other hand has a really weird vibe. I go in there every time I visit Soto Lifestyle and every time I just circle the store and leave. Even though the clothes are really cute, too, the people who work there and the customers are a little off putting. It almost feels like it is a private club and there is an unspoken code word to receive a nice welcome. There are a lot of regulars who do seem to get the special attention. I don't think I have bought anything there. I always feel like I can't wait to get out of there. read more

It's a shame that I am feeling the necessity to write a review and give one star because i genuinely like this store and one of the younger shop girls that works there is seriously one of the nicest girls I've met. But.........my experience with an older lady in this store (I'm told her name is Phylis but not sure) was absolutely appalling! I came in the door at about 10 to 6 and she basically rushed me and said "you know we close at 6 right?" and I looked at the time on my phone and I said "well, you're still open though right?" and she said "yes but just so you know, we're closing at 6". Don't want to be long winded so....long story short I left and they lost the sale. Rudest experience i have had in a store in a LONG time. This was a while back, but the more I think and talk to people about it the more I feel like people should be aware! Soto is a complete store with lots of tops, sweaters, jeans, leggings, dresses, booties, handbags, jackets, coats,....jewelries. Check the jewelries by Isabel Iny, the store always has such a great selection of her necklaces & bracelets. Absolutely my favorite jewelry designer !!!! Why bother shopping at any other place .... I go straight to Soto Boutique. If the store is out of my size or color, the girls call the other 2 stores, Westlake Village & Sherman Oaks, and they have it tranferred to the Woodland Hills location. Love you girls !!!!!!! I buy all of my jeans here now - they are cute, fit great, well lasting and reasonably priced. Everytime my sister's are in town, they insist on me bringing them to Soto to stock up! The clothes are okay...but the employees are not. They don't make eye contact or greet you when you walk in, however, they literally follow you around the store (trailing behind you by literally a foot) like you're going to steal a $30 shirt in their micro store. I love the stuff I find here and just have to say that I've never had any of the issues I've read in other reviews. I'm happy shopping on my own without sales people constantly bugging me, so maybe I have different customer service standards. I did have a shirt I bought that had an unraveling seam, and although they wouldn't do a refund or exchange, they did get it fixed for me at a tailor next door for no charge. Works for me! read more
