Went to restaurant Soul 2 Go downtown on Lynn St on Saturday for a birthday with 12 other people and several of us ordered Liver and Onions and it was disgusting no onions and livers was thick and tough as hell. Waitress had food mixed up and also brought food out 2 at a time and others was finished before the last people got their food. I wasn't happy with this location services. Was looking for a back up place grab food with my mom, because the original choice was closed (shame on us), so after some yelping we landed on soul to go, in our searching there was no mention (or we SEVERELY overlooked) that this is a ghost kitchen and therefore takeout only. The location has a kiosk where you can order from all the kitchens in the building, but it seems that the apps are the primary order method for the places here. That being said there was a table in the corner by the window that we decided to eat at since our plan was to dine together. I got the fried fish dinner: perch, okra, red beans & rice. The rise was both stick and a little dry. The okra was basically one giant ball, and very gooey on the inside, and the perch was so salty it was difficult to eat. The order I received an accurate and warm order of a fried chicken dinner on time. The butterflied boneless chicken breasts we're a little bit dry and chewy, but the best of the 5 fried chicken breasts I've tried. The breading was good and crispy. I liked the fried okra side. It was not at all slimy. It had a corn meal coating, but it was bland. I thought it needed more salt, better, and a bit of cayenne to spark it up. If you like KFC Cole slaw (slightly sweet and mayo laden), you will like the cole slaw they offer. I also ordered the creamed corn. I really did not like it! Way super sweet and over cooked with a cinnamon-like flavor. Something I've never experienced with creamed cord. Totally lacking in crunch, tang, and heat. Also an unpleasant tan color. Maybe brown sugar or cinnamon related. I say all of this while acknowledging that I am a bitter taster with little love for sweet and a strong preference for mild to moderate spice and heat. I was a little confused about the location, but it seems like this particular location is a rented restaurant space for multiple restaurants for pickup orders only. A cool concept! About the food: the greens were delish! I thought I tasted a hint of pico de gallo which was interesting. Uber delivery.. So I ordered jerk chicken, cabbage, and green beans. Let me start off saying.. a good jerk chicken is supposed to fall right off the bone. This chicken melted right off the fork. It appeared like it would be dry. But that is the outside seasoning. Has a light crispt crust. But when you bite into it, the extra Jamaican bite kicks in. You start chewing it. The inside is filled with flavor, too, as it melts in your mouth. I love adding hotsauce to mix with a potato or macaroni salad in one bite. But that jerk chicken didn't need hotsauce. It was flavor throughout. You could add more hotsauce, but it was just fine. The green beans. They were slightly overcooked because they were so tender they fell apart trying to pick up with your fork. It's a solid restaurant for soul food cravings in Columbus. My only drawback is the saltiness of the food, namely when it comes to the proteins.
