Order to go --- ask for your protein ON THE SIDE-the salad had slide into a wilted room temperature plate-- it's already 90 degrees outside

Well seasoned-- service --order on line carefully..the waitress with the red ponytail tail is a little impatient ( black capris).- she gives " unapproachable/ don't ask questions " The sweet potato pie -- looks amazing-- I should have of $12 to get a fair portion.. I will try again

Build your own Meal Jerk Chicken

Ordered for delivery online. Got the BYO bowl with jerk chicken, homemade Mac and cheese, garlic mashed potatoes, candied yams and cornbread. Food was STEAMING HOT Everything was perfect! The flavor profiles of everything was TOP TEER. The cornbread... when that hit my mouth... tears formed in my eyes I'll be a regular here before I know it.

Fried fish dinner

Was looking for a back up place grab food with my mom, because the original choice was closed (shame on us), so after some yelping we landed on soul to go, in our searching there was no mention (or we SEVERELY overlooked) that this is a ghost kitchen and therefore takeout only. The location has a kiosk where you can order from all the kitchens in the building, but it seems that the apps are the primary order method for the places here. That being said there was a table in the corner by the window that we decided to eat at since our plan was to dine together. I got the fried fish dinner: perch, okra, red beans & rice. The rise was both stick and a little dry. The okra was basically one giant ball, and very gooey on the inside, and the perch was so salty it was difficult to eat. I did have a piece of my moms chicken which was solid. The person who prepared our very kind and checked on us as we waited for our food. Can't say that we'll make a return trip/follow up order though:

Columbus Food Hall on Essex Ave.

Located inside Columbus Food Hall on Essex Ave. No dine in. Smothered pork chops were tender with plenty of gravy, but cabbage seemed overcooked. Mac and cheese had parsley and a little cold so the cheese wasnt melted. Pound cake was moist. May order again if I want smothered pork chops.

Awful. Pulled jerk chicken, cabbage and collard greens.

Unfortunately, the pulled chicken was mostly skin and bones, as you can see...and VERY SALTY. Greens were just ok, but eatable. The cabbage was super oily with a peculiar flavor. Very dissatisfied.

Let's just say that we will try anything once I really mean once So tonight we were on the hunt for dinner wanting to eat something new we jumped on yelp now I came across this place a time or two before but was wondering what they really like so tonight we thought it would be good for dinner let's just say never again I MEAN NEVER AGAIN we purchased 2 different build your own and got all different sides to try them out 1st meal was the lemon pepper chicken leg quarter with cabbage greens and Mac and cheese 1st what was the cabbage it was brown smelled like wine so it was old as all get out y'all should've kept that the Mac taste like box with chives tossed on top of everything I ask for no veggies on my green they placed them there anyway which didn't help the over bearing salt stalks and heavy oil that was also included 2dry sponge cake pieces of cornbread I paid 5bucks for when the box eggs milk cost less the 2nd meal was chicken rice and gravy bake beans and cream corn let's start on the corn did you use evaporated milk and cinnamon yuck that what it taste like and it was silky nooooo the rice was soggy a table spoon on gravy THE KICKER WAS I ASKED FOR MY FOOD TO COME SEPARATELY DO TO THE JUICES OF FOOD NOPE THEY PUT IT ALL TOGETHER WHICH MADE IT SLOPPY ESPECIALLY WITH THE SPOILED CABBAGE THEY SERVE SHAME ON YALL WILL NOT BE RETURNING

Corn Bread

Ugh, I cant even find the words to describe how good their food is. I got the build your own bowl with fried pork chops, Mac, cabbage, yams & corn bread. The pork chops are seasoned well, they give you TWO big pork chops, the Mac and cheese is amazing (im very picky about my Mac and cheese) the cabbage has a nice kick to it, the flavor of the yams!! Wooh! And my corn bread is so buttery. Listen, try it. This is my second time ordering, the first time I had smothered pork chops, which were so good, just a tad salty but nonetheless, im happy I ordered from here again! It's like thanksgiving on a random Friday in March lol

Ordering pickup is the worst service on Essex even when you do time order. It's ridiculous. Do go there for pick up

I think having a call reservation system could help, but they probably could also have some outdoor seating when the weather is nice. They're very friendly here, and the food is very good........so it's completely understandable why they're so loved. Just maybe they could use some extra capacity accommodations as I suggested.

I visited for breakfast/brunch in late December 2025 with a college friend and her son. The restaurant was busy when we arrived so we had to wait for about 10 mins for a table. We received our food in about 20 mins after they were ordered. The waiter brought us glasses of water and I may have ordered orange juice too. I ordered the pancakes with scrambled eggs and bacon. The pancakes were topped with some butter and ai added syrup too. They tasted fluffy and delicious. The scrambled eggs and bacon were well cooked and tasted good. My friend's son ordered a breakfast sandwich and my friend ordered the eggs benedict. They seemed to both like what they got. Overall, I enjoyed my food and customer service was pleasant. **** GOAL of 250 reviews in 2026 - 52/250 total reviews in 2026 - 893 total Yelp reviews - Reviewed on 26 April 2026

This was my first time to this location of Tupelo Honey. I had been to the original in Asheville,…read moreNC, but even then, it had been quite some time. The atmosphere was modern with a southern twist. I'm not going to lie, I chuckled a bit when I noticed my water glass said "Bless Your Heart". In Appalachian culture, this is actually an insult. We had a large group, but the service was excellent. Very friendly, attentive, and everything was brought out timely and correctly. My food was really good! It was brunch time so I had coffee, the "Mimosa of the Moment" which was an apple cinnamon, a biscuit with blueberry preserves, and the Southern Shakshouka. All were fantastic and I would definitely get again. I also thought the price was affordable for the quantity.

My server was great. The place is really lovely and I like there is now a parking garage just steps away. I started with a specialty sip cocktail - an Orange Cinnamon Bun Old Fashioned, and ordered 3 apps since they were half-priced for happy hour. The Biscuits for a Cause (2 with butter, jam and honey), Fried Pickles (chips with ranch), and Famous Fried Green Tomatoes (I don't normally like goat cheese, but these are served with stone-ground goat cheese grits) were all fabulous and I had plenty to take home after trying all. I had a glass of red blend wine with my entree, which was the Pan-Seared Salmon. My two chosen sides were the mashed potatoes and fried okra. The salmon was perfectly cooked; it was a great dish. I also got the Rosemary & Parmesan Breakfast Potatoes to go to have with my breakfast this morning. The service, food and atmosphere were all very enjoyable. The manager also helped out bringing food, and checking on me. I would return for another meal.
