Went here for the first time last night 3/15/26. What can I say? The place is an absolute GEM!! From the live entertainment, the service & the food....ALL ON POINT. The staff is very friendly & attentive. I had the smothered pork chops, Mac-n-cheese & greens. My husband had the catfish, yams & greens. We shared cornbread; but really should have gotten more because it was so good. Desert was the peach cobbler...made you wanna pinch yourself it was so good! Tried Soul To Go for the first time last Friday before attending a show at the Palace Theatre. Service was friendly and attentive and the food was beyond awesome. My wife had blackened catfish with grits with a side of chicken quarters and I had the fried catfish with creamed corn and fried okra and a side of cornbread. The chicken was delicious and both styles of catfish were amongst the best I've ever had. Sides were great as well. Mixed drinks were on point and the entire experience was beyond expectations. This place doesn't seem like much and I ordered on Postmates, which i dont recommend. Someone cancelled and then it took like an hour and a half to finally get to me. Other than that, this food was bomb. I got the fried chicken bowl with greens, candied yams, and Mac and cheese. I also got cornbread and peach cobbler. The bowl was honestly so good. I dont have Amy complaints except for I wish the Mac and cheese was cheesier. But overall the flavors were great and the whole meal was delicious. The cornbread was amazing!! Definitely order that its truly one of my favorites ive had. I was not a fan of the peach cobbler. It looks more like peach soup than a cobbler. Just my opinion, wasnt my favorite. I just tried the food from here and it was delicious! So far I have had the greens, mac n cheese, sweet potato (casserole) green beans and cornbread. My husband had some chicken and spaghetti and everything was very good! I highly recommend this place if you want good soul food, good service, and also to hear some good music as well. My family and I tried this restaurant for the first time on Friday night and it is now our go to place for soul food! We all can't wait to go back, so we already planned our next dinner date. Every single thing we ordered was delicious! I ordered a Create your own bowl "Perch Bowl" with yams, mac and green beans. The perch was seasoned perfectly and I liked that it had a crunch to the breading. When I say seasoned I mean just right, I don't like food when it too salty, not an issue for us at all. The green beans were a nice seasoned surprised with every bite. The Mac and cheese with yams just topped everything off so well. I also ordered cornbread and it tastes just like my mother's which she agreed, so again right on point with my meal. My family also got different bowls with jerk chicken, cabbage, mash potatoes, chicken wings and they all were over the moon about how good everything was. There was live music that night so that was an awesome plus. Couldn't ask for anything more when you have excellent food and great music! Hey y'all!! I'm pretty sure my pictures look kinda sus and aren't really giving this meal it's due diligence but hear me out. It was actually delicious....well...I have some notes: One: Do Not order off UberEats! ( they dropping off everybody and their momma meals before yours). Which is extremely irritating when by the time you get your meal it's a cool room temperature. Anywho i digress, what I loved about this meal was how flavorful and seasoned everything was. But my biggest gripe were those freaking mashed potatoes. You can always tell who is using powdered mashed potatoes and who isn't. It just don't hit the same. Everything else *chefs kiss* Aye that catfish though! Amazing! Compliments to the chef! -Oh I don't have a picture of the corn bread but that's the star of the show. Make sure you get some. Holy cow the Jerk Chicken Bowl is ! The jerk is just spicy enough with all those complex layers to the flavors. The chicken literally falls off the bone. The cabbage is flavorful, the peas and rice perfect. I also had the Mac and cheese- which was fine. The collards which were too salty for my tastes. And the yams which were undercooked. Was hungry for some jerk chicken and Soul to Go was suggested by a friend. Ordered the chicken, macaroni and cheese, yams and peach cobbler. The seasoniing on the jerk was really good but all of the splintered bones made eating it a trial, im used to the chicken being chopped up cleaner so you only have to worry about larger bones. My eldest kid went for the bourbon chicken bowl and I gotta say I was a little envious. Had me reminiscing of City Center Mall. The rest of us had chicken and it was perfectly crispy with just the right seasoning. My partner got a Signature Soul Food Bowl with mac&cheese, greens & yams. I placed an order on Tuesday using Grubhub. The food arrived on time. The driver was nice. I initially rated the food as good. I had ordered chicken and fries, fish fillets and a chicken breast bowl that included greens, yams and macaroni and cheese and a side order of Mac and cheese. As I continued eating the food throughout yesterday and some food today I noticed that the food was very greasy and had an odd taste. I had to wrap the chicken, fish and fries in paper towels to absorb all of the grease. The greens were cooked with large stems on them. I have ordered in the past from Soul to go and the food is normally very good but the good I received yesterday was not good. It was a group order for 4 people. I had the fried chicken dinner with green beans & macaroni. Wings were bland; the fried skin didn't have any seasoning. The macaroni was edible. The green beans were very good though. The pound cake was a too dense for me. The peach cobbler that was ordered, did not have any crust. I do suggest that you order online before going because your food seems to be cooked to order. And they automatically added a tip to our order . I really wish I read the reviews prior to ordering through Grubhub. This is the worst food I've ever had in my life. I'm not exaggerating. The Mac and cheese was mushy, watery and unseasoned. The perch tasted like it was fried in old burnt oil and was also unseasoned. I've never been so angry after eating. Like, why would sell this to someone?? I'm pissed. It's hard to rate a restaurant when you do take-out or delivery for obvious reasons. Plus, the food that you imagine and crave is often lacking. Soul to Go was a very pleasant surprise. I ordered the fried perch which was pretty much like all fried perch. It was tasty. I ordered two sides, homemade mac and cheese and then cabbage. I also ordered an extra side of candied yams. The candied yams were delish, but the homemade mac and cheese was to die for. Rarely do I find take-out/delivery mac and cheese anything to write home about, but theirs was definitely yummy. I was born and raised in the true south (GA) and have lived in Cincy, Chicago, NYC and other great food towns. But I have NEVER had soul food this good outside of the south. The Jerk Chicken with red beans and rice and cabbage was on point in a big way...full of flavor and oh so fresh! Also the collards were beyond fresh, and not over cooked like most places tend to do. We also ordered the cole slaw, a tried and true test that tends to separate the "ok" places from the "obsessed chef" places. Most places put zero focus on their cole slaw and it's about as flavorful as yesterday's mashed potatoes. But this dude clearly had something in mind when he created his cole slaw dressing...tart but not sour, bright and light with a hint of sweetness and what I believe was apple cider vinegar...that's some gooooood slaw! Lastly as a Georgian I couldn't pass up the peach cobbler. I'm not going to say it was great, but we are headed back tonight for dinner...and some cobbler! Great food and prices. Get some! read more
