We were in the mood for a good cocktail bar and this was recommended to us. It's quite dim and…read morenarrow inside. The staff we interacted with were all friendly. For my drink, I got the Forbidden Fruit and my friend chose the Haw Yeah. I thought my drink was ok, nothing great. My friend's drink was definitely better than mine. We also shared their Lotus Root Chips as a snack. It was pretty good with the dipping sauce. A cool cocktail place to visit.

Sometimes you walk into a place and you instantly fall in love…read more Lonely Diner is just such a place. It's got this '70s rec-room basement vibe that I personally find completely irresistible. If I had a house, I'd want at least one room that looks exactly like what Lonely Diner's got going on. And fortunately, the drinks and food live up to the incredible atmosphere. I started out with the Haw Yeah ("Rum blend, amaro meletti, pernod, hawflakes, high octane black sugar falernum, mulberry grenadine, lime"), which is a delicious spin on a typical tiki drink. I've ordered it twice now, and it's satisfied me completely on both occasions. Another favorite for me is the Lucky Numb-er 8 ("Gin, pomello & lemongrass gentian, cocchi americano, dry vermouth, sichuan peppercorn tincture"), which is their spin on a white Negroni. It's so damn good. It's packed with flavor and definitely reminds me of a Negroni, but like better than any Negroni I've ever had. If that wasn't impressive enough, the food is terrific too. I tried one of their specials, the Wasabi Fried Chicken Sandwich ("Sichuan peppercorn battered fried chicken with a wasabi spiced caesar dressing and anchovies on a brioche bun"), on my latest visit and it's so, so good. The perfectly cooked and impressively juicy chicken is accompanied by an incredibly flavorful assortment of accouterments. I inhaled it, pretty much. The servers at Lonely Diner are super friendly and helpful, too. I love Lonely Diner. I hope it sticks around for a long, long time.

Came here on a Friday night and had such a fun experience…read more The space has a great after dark vibe with dim lighting and neon accents, cozy but still lively. We ordered the oden set with yogurt soju, Taiwanese popcorn chicken, and the salmon fried udon with uni sauce. Everything was super comforting and flavorful, especially the oden on a cold night. What really made it stand out was the bingo game. It got the whole bar involved and made the night feel more interactive and social. We ended up chatting with a group nearby and even taught them a Malaysian yam seng cheers, which turned into a really fun moment. Great spot for a lively night out with good food and energy. Would come back.

But unfortunately, this time we got a bit disappointed. Platter was filled with cheap/frozen fries that I don't event want to put it in my system. Salmon udon looked so sad, and we couldn't finish it. Cocktail was not bad though. I liked their lighting and decorations. The server looks cute but doesn't seem to be knowledgeable when we had questions (and keep forgot our requests..) I support local businesses and hate to say this. But probably I may not come back anymore as now there are many other fusion bar options available in North York. *This is only personal opinion, and your experience might be different. I'm not mad or anything haha. Just being honest about what we had that day hoping this helps other Yelpers to decide where to visit or what to eat spending their precious time and money :)

Was very cold with a touch of orange and came with show of a long pour which was fun. They have their own vodka and gin they use. 5 stars - Menu: sweet/dry, light/spirited quadrants mapped out on the front page Also a sketch drawing of the drink so you can see what type of glass you'll get and colorful pictures on the side to set the mood. - Spicy nuts: good yet dusty but bonus for having hazelnuts. 4 stars Midlights: - Can get on waitlist if full and can text you (note: was full even early afternoon on a Saturday) - Wanted to try more food like the beef sandwich or french onion soup but we were in between meals Lowlights: - Took over 30 min to get our first drink after ordering which was odd at a hotel of this caliber. The next ones did not have the same wait time which was good.

The inside was pretty crowded but had a very cool vibe. The menu itself was beautiful and so were the drink coasters. They had a lot of fun and unusual cocktails and I'm glad we stopped by for a drink. They also had food options but we didn't really look at them since we already ate dinner.
