I've had this place saved for the longest time and was waiting until I'm in the area to dine here. Finally made it and I'm so glad I tried it. First off, women-owned café? You go girls I love it. Came here for dinner and had a hard time choosing what to order as there are so many good options on the menu. Really wanted the calamari & shrimp appetizer but opted in for the shrimp bucket and the fish and chips. I also got a coconut mango drink which was super refreshing and delicious. I thought the fish tacos had a kick of spice added but they were still good. The fries were crispy, which I loved but the highlight for me has to be the shrimp. I loveeeeed the sea salt sauce. Finally got to come try this place out and was really excited because we have quite a love for seafood. It was a weeknight and it was pretty empty in the restaurant. They double has a cafe. I love the decor! Very open, spacious, dark in a nice way, with a gorgeous sign at the back center wall. Staff are friendly and quick to check on you. The food was ok! I wouldn't say it was my favorite, and I wasn't quite blown away with anything. I would come back for certain things though. Starting off with the salad, the dressing had a texture and taste that I can only tell you was not made fresh in house. It had that sort of translucent quality to it that reminds me of bottled sauce. Portion was good, but I wish they would toss it for you. The bowl is full of salad and they drizzle the dressing on top. It's a thick dressing that's pretty hard to toss in the bowl. It's a minor thing but honestly would be a much better dining experience. Also if they just made their own ceasar dressing. The seafood boil was also meh. I got half pound mussels with Cajun sauce. It comes on a platter with rice, potatoes and corn. I felt that it would be nice if you could pick your own sides, like at other seafood boils. The potatoes had no flavor inside them and the corn was really starchy and rough, with no corn flavor. It was a bit off putting. The sauce was ok, but I think they use too much seasoning powder, or over cooked the garlic because it was leaving a bitter flavor behind. I didn't love it by the third bite. The fish and chips were probably the best of what we ordered. It's the Costco fries texture which I love!!! Plus the fish is cooked well. The batter is very light and crispy. Total perfection! I wouldn't say I've had Cajun boiled seafood at many places prior, but I think I know where the bar is. Captain's Boil, the formulaic chain would be the floor and the one I really enjoyed, Lobster Boil Seafood House, in North York would be the ceiling. What I'm about to say about Sea Salt would definitely leave their management a bit "salty". Unequivocally, Sea Salt sits in the deep basement of the pecking order. Sea Salt's standing was easily determined after my first spoonful of the seafood broil. The sauce was their downfall as they went overboard with the of garlic and not to mention they burnt the garlic. As the Cajun sauce is the soul of a seafood boil, their sauce literally ruined the entire dish and experience. The combo we ordered came with fried calamari and shrimp and fries. The fried calamari and shrimp lacked a bit of "salt", which is rather ironic considering the restaurant's name and neither of the sauce complimented (sweet chilli and ranch) the calamari well. The fries were what you expected it to be. But a little bit too much sauce. The one thing that I liked was you could choose to have the Turkish Salaam Cola as part of your combo drink choice. I didn't think it was all that different from regular cola, but it was nice to try. Service is quite slow here and not super attentive. We had to flag them down various times to get things that should have been provided. We weren't given enough plates to start and we had to request for bibs and disposable gloves. These are pretty standard things at other boil places. In general, the appetizers were better than the seafood boil. The portion of the combo was pretty good so we packed some of it to go. But to put things into perspective, the following day I reheated the food for lunch, and my two kids didn't even touch it (with one of them who had experienced Lobster Boil Seafood house). We went last night to Sea Salt Seafood Cafe in Ajax They are located in the plaza near the Go Station Inside the restaurant is quaint and casual They have large tables mostly for the seafood boil that they offer We decided to go for their fried menu which they offer some solid options I ordered the 1/2 fried shrimp and fries My wife had the fish and chips but replaced the chips instead with a Caesar salad Both meals were really good and at a solid price I enjoyed the shrimp and the dipping sauces they offered were really good .... My wife enjoyed her meal as well though she made mention that the lettuce in her salad was still a bit frozen/frosty....the spicy tartar sauce that accompanied it was really good Service was really good....accommodating and checked in with us to ask how the meal was going We will definitely come again for a meal here ...hopefully to try the boil menu on the next occasion read more

I went two weeks ago to Sea Salt Cafe in Ajax They are located in the mall near the Go Station in Ajax The restaurant inside was clean and had a nice casual atmosphere Service was super good The host kept checking in on us and even brought down the shading for us as the sun was a bit bright and getting in my eyes I ordered the fish and chips meal but subbed out the chips for a Caesar salad The meal was good but the lettuce was a bit frozen still....not sure if it was too long in the fridge.... So when you find yourself at Ajax GO Station and wanting lunch, what are you gonna do? Well, there's a takeout Chinese place, but today is not one of the days I want to sit on bare concrete eating lunch, so I keep walking. And just down the mall is Sea Salt Seafood Cafe. It looks inviting, with bright large windows and tables open by these windows, so I head on in. A QR code menu. Ugh. I steel myself for scrolling my phone when the server appears with a printed menu. Hooray! I get the taco trio. You can choose fish or shrimp, so I get two fish and one shrimp. And that's all you get. Tacos and the taco filling (sauce, cabbage, fresh jalapeno slices). Service is friendly and quick, and the tacos arrive on one of those taco holder type flat plates. Everything is fresh, the shrimp are plump and juicy and delicious, but the fish has zero flavour, getting it all from the sauce. Yes, it is very fresh, but I would have liked a fish with some kind of taste to it. Price is normal for the GTA. We used to be able to snicker and say things like "Oh, ho, ho, this place in Bowmanville is charging Toronto prices," but let's be real. There are only GTA prices now...all higher than we want to pay. I'd love to come back and try some of their other menu items, especialy the seafood boil. read more

Location: Just off of the 401 next to the Fo station. Very convenient Parking: It's the suburb so of course there's lots of free parking Building; Just like a strip mall. I thought it was in the wrong place at first. The name just makes it seem like it's a standalone building. It's really nice inside. Not at all what other seafood boil places looked like that I've been to. Nicely decorated, the tables are nice. I like it You got there at 12:30 on a Sunday and it was empty. I had made a reservation. But by the time we got our food the restaurant was almost full. If you go before 1:00 I guess that's how you avoid the church crowd! Food: The menu was interesting. There's standard seafood fair and then the boils. Didn't go for the boils. We went with recommendations from the server I got shrimp tacos which I love and a shrimp appetizer for the table to share. It was the same with the same sauce. Which I'm glad I loved it. Service was good. You know we stayed until the restaurant emptied again talking cuz we hadn't seen each other for years and no one disturbed us they let us see this slow as we wanted and stay chatting. We have always driven by, and we finally got the chance to go in for dinner today. We are very glad we did. It has a very calm environment, and was a beautiful day with the sun on most of their tables. We ordered the large lobster boil with the sea salt butter- hot. Initially, I thought we could have gone up to extra hot, but as we ate the taste and spice built up and it was the perfect flavour! The sea salt butter is a combination of all the butters. The shrimp is big, the mussels and lobster very delicious and the veggies (potatoes and corn) soaked up the sauce very well. The service was very prompt. We were craving a seafood boil but did not want to go to our usual spot as I find their sauces way too salty for my liking. So we decided to give this place a try. The location is a bit out of place as it almost shares the parking lot with a Go train station. Upon entering the restaurant, we were greeted and seated immediately. The dining room is a generous size with maybe 40+ tables. We ordered the sea salt boil mix bucket, lobster boil bucket and some calamari to share. The food does take a long time to come and the service leaves a lot to be desired as we had to keep asking for water refills. The food was just ok but their garlic butter sauce was definitely less salty which was good. Having this meal without a nice brewsky was a torcherous event for me though. We also tried their infamous croissant dessert and it was just meh. Too doughy for my liking and did not go over well with my 10 yr old. This was our first visit to this spot. My hubby found it on social media. It's located right beside Ajax GO station parking lot with a few other stores. We were there around 530pm on a weeknight and it was quite busy already. We got a table with no problem but after 10 min a rush of people came in and they had to wait. The sun was setting at that time and the restaurant doesn't have any blinds to block out the sun so it was a good think I had my sunnies. We ordered a few things to try with our little one such as lobster roll with fries, mozzarella sticks and chicken fingers and fries. The lobster roll wasn't bad the bread was very buttery. The sticks weren't great. They tasted very much like it was from a box. The chicken fingers were good. We did enjoy the fries. My hubby wanted to try Turkish coffee and I had a sip and just couldn't do it anymore!!!! It had an extremely strong taste almost bitter. I don't think I will have it again!! Overall, it was ok. Came here with my friend on a weekday evening and the place wasn't too busy. The place itself has an open concept and lots of seating. We grabbed some mocktails since this place does not serve alcohol. We were in the mood for seafood boil and decided to get the shrimp and mussels bucket with Cajun sauce. were very disappointed with our Mother's Day dine-in experience at Sea Food Cafe. My grade school kids had saved their own money to treat me, and they were heartbroken by how the evening turned out. We were a group of five but were pointed to a table for four and had to grab an extra chair ourselves. Despite giving our order clearly (and repeating it), the server still got it wrong. I had to wait for my food while everyone else finished, which ruined my appetite. We ordered crab and weren't given scissors until we asked. When the manager Alma, brought the food, she tipped over a glass of water on our table and didn't even help clean it. No one checked in to see if we needed anything the entire time. When paying, I was about to email the receipt for feedback, but the server interrupted and just handed me a printed copy. We didn't receive a single apology. We've been here a few times before and liked it, but this time was the worst by far. I hope the management seriously reconsiders how they treat customers. I would never come back. This place opened a little while ago and we have been meaning to try it out for so long! I recommend making a reservation if you're going on a weekend night! It can get busy! Without a reservation we had a two minute wait for a table for a table for two. It's a casual place dress-wise, with very modern decor. Right in the door, we both commented on the delicious smell that filled the room. There are two booths and the rest are tables with chairs. They have a fancy coffee maker to make the coffees on their menu to go along with the, "cafe" theme in the name. The server was polite and attentive. A little slow with the bill, but no complaints. They do not sell alcohol here, we tried the Barbican in green apple and raspberry and they were both pretty good - it's a bubbly sweet drink that comes in a bottle if you've never had it before. We ordered the shrimp roll and the shrimp mussel boil. The shrimp roll came out way faster than the boil. I had eaten my entire meal before the boil even came out! The fries were amazing - perfectly seasoned, used fresh oil and were the right crispness. I liked the shrimp roll a lot too. The brioche bun it came in was so good! The shrimp mussel boil was very filling and could be split between two people. It came with a few fingerling potatoes, corn, and rice. We had the sea salt sauce as our choice which we liked.
