    1/2 shrimp and fries
    Rob W.

We went last night to Sea Salt Seafood Cafe in Ajax They are located in the plaza near the Go Station Inside the restaurant is quaint and casual They have large tables mostly for the seafood boil that they offer We decided to go for their fried menu which they offer some solid options I ordered the 1/2 fried shrimp and fries My wife had the fish and chips but replaced the chips instead with a Caesar salad Both meals were really good and at a solid price I enjoyed the shrimp and the dipping sauces they offered were really good .... My wife enjoyed her meal as well though she made mention that the lettuce in her salad was still a bit frozen/frosty....the spicy tartar sauce that accompanied it was really good Service was really good....accommodating and checked in with us to ask how the meal was going We will definitely come again for a meal here ...hopefully to try the boil menu on the next occasion

I went two weeks ago to Sea Salt Cafe in Ajax They are located in the mall near the Go Station in Ajax The restaurant inside was clean and had a nice casual atmosphere Service was super good The host kept checking in on us and even brought down the shading for us as the sun was a bit bright and getting in my eyes I ordered the fish and chips meal but subbed out the chips for a Caesar salad The meal was good but the lettuce was a bit frozen still....not sure if it was too long in the fridge.... I enjoyed the fish which came with a spicy tartar sauce My husband enjoyed his fried shrimp and fries meal The fries were super crispy and I stole some from his plate Overall it was a good meal and would recommend them for a seafood meal in Durham

So when you find yourself at Ajax GO Station and wanting lunch, what are you gonna do? Well, there's a takeout Chinese place, but today is not one of the days I want to sit on bare concrete eating lunch, so I keep walking. And just down the mall is Sea Salt Seafood Cafe. It looks inviting, with bright large windows and tables open by these windows, so I head on in. A QR code menu. Ugh. I steel myself for scrolling my phone when the server appears with a printed menu. Hooray! I get the taco trio. You can choose fish or shrimp, so I get two fish and one shrimp. And that's all you get. Tacos and the taco filling (sauce, cabbage, fresh jalapeno slices). Service is friendly and quick, and the tacos arrive on one of those taco holder type flat plates. Everything is fresh, the shrimp are plump and juicy and delicious, but the fish has zero flavour, getting it all from the sauce. Yes, it is very fresh, but I would have liked a fish with some kind of taste to it. Price is normal for the GTA. We used to be able to snicker and say things like "Oh, ho, ho, this place in Bowmanville is charging Toronto prices," but let's be real. There are only GTA prices now...all higher than we want to pay. I'd love to come back and try some of their other menu items, especialy the seafood boil.

We have always driven by, and we finally got the chance to go in for dinner today. We are very glad we did. It has a very calm environment, and was a beautiful day with the sun on most of their tables. We ordered the large lobster boil with the sea salt butter- hot. Initially, I thought we could have gone up to extra hot, but as we ate the taste and spice built up and it was the perfect flavour! The sea salt butter is a combination of all the butters. The shrimp is big, the mussels and lobster very delicious and the veggies (potatoes and corn) soaked up the sauce very well. The service was very prompt. This is a place I will definitely visit again.

I absolutely enjoyed the seafood boil here. They had some great items on the menu. The seafood boil platter was great portions, quality and tasted great. I highly recommend all seafood lovers to check out sea salt!

We were craving a seafood boil but did not want to go to our usual spot as I find their sauces way too salty for my liking. So we decided to give this place a try. The location is a bit out of place as it almost shares the parking lot with a Go train station. Upon entering the restaurant, we were greeted and seated immediately. The dining room is a generous size with maybe 40+ tables. We ordered the sea salt boil mix bucket, lobster boil bucket and some calamari to share. The food does take a long time to come and the service leaves a lot to be desired as we had to keep asking for water refills. The food was just ok but their garlic butter sauce was definitely less salty which was good. Having this meal without a nice brewsky was a torcherous event for me though. We also tried their infamous croissant dessert and it was just meh. Too doughy for my liking and did not go over well with my 10 yr old. Overall, it was not a bad experience but definitely not a stand out one that would bring me back.

This was our first visit to this spot. My hubby found it on social media. It's located right beside Ajax GO station parking lot with a few other stores. We were there around 530pm on a weeknight and it was quite busy already. We got a table with no problem but after 10 min a rush of people came in and they had to wait. The sun was setting at that time and the restaurant doesn't have any blinds to block out the sun so it was a good think I had my sunnies. We ordered a few things to try with our little one such as lobster roll with fries, mozzarella sticks and chicken fingers and fries. The lobster roll wasn't bad the bread was very buttery. The sticks weren't great. They tasted very much like it was from a box. The chicken fingers were good. We did enjoy the fries. My hubby wanted to try Turkish coffee and I had a sip and just couldn't do it anymore!!!! It had an extremely strong taste almost bitter. I don't think I will have it again!! Overall, it was ok. The food was decent and the restaurant looked clean. It opened in August 2022.

Came here with my friend on a weekday evening and the place wasn't too busy. The place itself has an open concept and lots of seating. We grabbed some mocktails since this place does not serve alcohol. We were in the mood for seafood boil and decided to get the shrimp and mussels bucket with Cajun sauce. It was honestly a pretty huge serving and pretty filling we couldn't finish the whole bucket. Overall, a good spot and similar concept to captains boil.

Great spot by the highway that's easy to get to. The seafood is fresh and sauce is very tasty. Service was quick and lighting is very good. Will definitely try to stop by next time if I pass by on the way to Ottawa or Montreal

This place opened a little while ago and we have been meaning to try it out for so long! I recommend making a reservation if you're going on a weekend night! It can get busy! Without a reservation we had a two minute wait for a table for a table for two. It's a casual place dress-wise, with very modern decor. Right in the door, we both commented on the delicious smell that filled the room. There are two booths and the rest are tables with chairs. They have a fancy coffee maker to make the coffees on their menu to go along with the, "cafe" theme in the name. The server was polite and attentive. A little slow with the bill, but no complaints. They do not sell alcohol here, we tried the Barbican in green apple and raspberry and they were both pretty good - it's a bubbly sweet drink that comes in a bottle if you've never had it before. We ordered the shrimp roll and the shrimp mussel boil. The shrimp roll came out way faster than the boil. I had eaten my entire meal before the boil even came out! The fries were amazing - perfectly seasoned, used fresh oil and were the right crispness. I liked the shrimp roll a lot too. The brioche bun it came in was so good! The shrimp mussel boil was very filling and could be split between two people. It came with a few fingerling potatoes, corn, and rice. We had the sea salt sauce as our choice which we liked. Great place! Go check it out!

I have tried seafood is other restaurants that is much better taster than this place, small portions and pricey . Missing flavor.

I like that you don't have to go through the sports complex to get to this restaurant. I parked in the parking lot in front of this eatery. There are steps to go up to get to the restaurant. It's also wheelchair-accessible with a ramp. Bar down is a hockey term. When a hockey player shoots the puck and it hits the bottom of the crossbar first, followed by going straight into the net, it's bar down. Some folks also call it bar south. We were a group of four. It was a thrill for me to get to check out the kitchen. Jody and Chris were kind to give us a tour and were delightful hosts. We also got to meet the chef, John Charles, who is the mastermind behind the dishes. We ordered way too much food. We wanted to sample lots of it. We did! Our order consisted of these items: - BarDown smash burger with fries - Truly Canadian Detroit-style pizza - Jerk chicken penne - Buttermilk chicken tenders - Cajun roasted red pepper and garlic parm wings, with fries - Ahi tuna poke - BarDown nachos - Street fish tacos I got multiple refills on Diet Pepsi. Each glass of it was crisp and delightful. This restaurant is on City of Whitby property. The city has a contract with Pepsi, so it's Pepsi products here. It was nice seeing customers watching the Blue Jays spring training. This eatery houses the largest screen in the city. Wow! The BarDown smash burger was excellent. It has two beef patties that were juicy with crispy edges. The bun was yummy and held everything together, including the pickles. It was excellent! The truly Canadian Detroit-style pizza has an odd name, but it is Canadian. It had mushrooms, which made me happy. It also had pepperoni, bacon, and peppers, with a side of ranch. I liked the crispy edges and yummy toppings. The herbed tomato sauce was awesome! If you like a spicy kick, get the jerk chicken penne. The penne was al dente. The jerk chicken was tender. The heat kicks in slowly after your first bite and builds. The flavours were perfect. So good! This place is known for its buttermilk chicken tenders. I was in heaven enjoying one. It was juicy and had the best crunch. I dipped it in the plum sauce. Yum! I also loved the coleslaw that accompanied the tenders. It was crunchy and delicious. The fries were excellent. We got generous portions. I loved them. The ridges were perfect to get more ketchup or whatever condiment you like. I love wings. This eatery makes fabulous wings. Each one was huge. Both the cajun roasted red pepper and garlic parm wings were meaty and yummy. I loved the veggies, which made me feel like I was eating something healthy-ish. My favourite item was the ahi tuna poke. Think nachos, but with wonton crisps. The tuna was crusted in white and black sesame. It had avocado, pico, pineapple salsa, pickled chili, ginger soy, sriracha aioli, and cilantro crema. Fabulous! It was incredible. I am still dreaming about it. You get a generous portion of BarDown nachos. The spicy beef chili was amazing with the melted cheese, pico, and nachos chips. The street tacos were so bright and scrumptious. We got beer-battered fish, with shredded lettuce, pineapple salsa, slaw, and cilantro lime crema. The fish was flaky and yummy. This place makes such a great pineapple salsa. I loved how light and bright these tacos were. It's a family-friendly establishment. I saw a group of young hockey boys with their parents eating at a long table after their game. The hockey arena has a concession stand that sells your usual hot dogs, chips, pop, pizza, and more. It runs independently from this eatery. I used the washroom a couple of times during the three hours that were were here. The women's washroom was exceptionally clean. No issues. This eatery is on Skip the Dishes. I had a wonderful experience having lunch with friends. The food is excellent. I'd return in a heartbeat. (74)

This is a franchise that has definitely blown up recently for their amazing Middle Eastern influenced dishes so I really wanted to check it out. Considering it was Easter Sunday we did have to wait about 25 minutes to be seated, but they were taking reservations as well! The staff greeted us immediately and were very kind. This shop has the cutest decor and the vibe feels like you're in a house having brunch! Keep in mind the prices are quite expensive in comparison to other breakfast joints I have been to. The portion sizes are quite big which compensate for the pricing of the food. When it came to the food, we got quite a few dishes to try out! We ordered the Pulled Beef Benedict (9.5/10 was delicious), Canadian Breakfast (7/10 was alright not the greatest), Chicken & Waffles (6/10 waffles were quite stale and lacked flavour), Biscoff Pancakes (10/10 this was amazing and highly recommend), Mango Strawberry Lemonade (7/10 was alright quite sweet), Spiced Vanilla Latte (5/10 did not taste that great) and the Oreo Milkshake (6/10 was very watery)! Overall the food was alright, I would definitely come back for the Biscoff Pancakes and understand why it went viral online! So if you are looking for a breakfast joint to check out in Ajax you should try it out! 7.5/10 Recommend!

Food was tasty, I quite enjoyed my OG wings. They were freshly fried, very piping hot and tasty, and huge! It came with a slice of bread, dipping sauce, and some pickles. I got the combo which came with fries and a drink. They have a good selection of soft drinks, and a slushy machine. I got it mild and it was perfect amount of spice for me. They were very kind to make the chicken bites plain for my young daughter who cannot handle the heat yet. It did seem slightly overdone but it was a busy day. This seems like one of those places that Gordon Ramsay needs to "save." The server who greeted us seemed miserable and was surprised that we wanted to sit outside on a glorious summer day. (There was no language barrier in case that's what you're thinking). We received our food in a timely manner- we ordered drinks and an appetizer to share. The appetizer came with sweet potato fries, veggie sticks, 3 chicken fingers, and "chippies" (chips) with a side of ranch and chipotle mayo. The sweet potato fries and chippies were really, really fried. It seemed like they had been sitting in the kitchen and just fried up again to be heated up. The chicken fingers with spicy Thai sauce had just had the sauce dumped on top of them rather than having them mixed in a bowl prior to plopping them on the plate. Pros: the drinks were fine, beer was bubbly, and it is very affordable. I don't think I'd go back other than for a drink if I'm looking for a patio
