Stumbled upon this bar on a weekday night. It was quite full, but they made it work for a group of 8! We came here for their cocktails and were able to try a great variety. But my favourite was their revitalizer cocktail - which was also a favourite amongst the group. The drinks are presented beautifully and are all well and creatively described on the menu. The menu is also very cute - they have little sketches of the drinks! Service was great - helpful with getting us seats and combining tables, picking out drinks. The vibes are sooo cozy and retro. I loved all the warm wooden tones inside on the walls, tables, and with the leather chairs. Great decor too! Highly recommend!

I came here recommended by multiple people while visiting Toronto! The lonely diner was by far my favorite cocktail bar I visited on my trip. The vibes are intimate and hip which is great for a small group of people or a date night. The bohemian rhapsody deserves an honorable mention for the most creative and flavorful. The cheese foam on top balances the flavor so well it was an easy sipper!

Have you ever tried a durian cocktail? Lonely Diner did the unthinkable and made the world's most controversial fruit... fun. Their Forbidden Fruit is a clarified milk punch. It's velvety, light, with just a "hint" of durian custardy funk. Clean, smooth, and way too easy to drink . Cocktail highlights: * Gochu On My Mind: boozy, layered, spirit-forward. Definitely not for anyone who avoids a strong pour, but every sip evolves. It's bold and silky with a slow-building gochugaru heat. A spicy, umami mashup of Old Fashioned + Manhattan (i think). * Revitalizer: first sip hits with galangal, then comes the lift of lemongrass before it settles into a hint of eucalyptus finish that lingers long after. It's light yet complex, crisp yet grounding. * Bohemian Raspberry: tart, creamy, and cheeky all at once. We also went full send on the entire snack menu and here are the highlights: * Caviar Fish Filet: tangy, creamy, crispy. Definitely a fan favorite * Betel Leaf Beef Sliders: my favorite! First bite and my eyes did the full * Shrimp Nori Bites * Sesame Baby Corn Lonely Diner is full of surprises. The drinks taste like a science experiment gone VERY right. With a lineup of talent from BarChef, After Seven, Big Trouble and Midnight Market, the bar was already set high, and they more than delivered. 10/10 would come back.

LONELY DINER . . Lonely Diner is the newest hip cocktail bar to pop up in the College and Bathurst area and it's one you do not want to miss out. They serve a variety of unique cocktails with an asian flare. Whether you enjoy refreshing cocktails that are suitable for all, more adventurous cocktails or the classics, they have it all here. They also have a snacks/food menu that pairs well with any drink on the menu. As soon as you enter, you will feel like you are transported to a 70s diner/bar. It's got a cozy, familiar vibe to it. If you enjoy quieter bars, I recommend going when they open as they do get quite busy and loud as the night progresses. . . Waku Waku 4/5 Rorschach Rice Lager 4/5 Perilla Pop 3.3/5 Revitalizer 4/5 Gochu on my mind 4.8/5 Hitachino White Ale 5/5 . . We really enjoyed all the cocktails and had such a fun night. The vibes are off the charts!

Either the menu is a mediocre version of the actual menu, and/or the service is dismissive once they learn you're there for the 'licious set. Black + Blue had a $65 dinner menu which is pretty good for the options available. The portions were generous but the service was where things really stood out. We were treated so incredibly well by all the staff. Dawn was our server and she was so lovely! We really felt taken care of. I've never had a restaurant server look at the type of pant I was wearing and change my table napkin to a black one to match my dark pants. Nor do I remember a restaurant heating up the mug a cappuccino comes in to ensure it stays nice and warm. As for food, we were allowed to have some partake in Summerlicious and some not. I had the Summerlicious menu and picked the Wagyu Tartare, Surf and Turf, and Buttercake. Great portions, delicious food. My favourite was the Buttercake. We also had happy hour drinks, oysters, a prime rib, and caesar salad. If I were to recommend something, get the $78 prime rib which is 14 oz, perfectly seasoned, and comes with glazed carrots and the most amazing mashed potatoes I've ever had.

From the vibes to the food, everything was top notch. Tyler took care of our group and made sure that we got an experience rather than just a meal. Upon being seated we got napkins to match our outfits so the white lint didn't get on our black pants , an incredible guava passion fruit cocktail to try and a meat presentation to make sure we all order like pros from here on out. The food was incredible- one our tastebuds won't forget! Our group of 5 started with fresh sushi and sashimi, table side Caesar salad and the softest brioche served with sun-dried tomato butter that was perfect in every way. Main course: Australian wagyu ribeye that we didn't even have to chew plus a strip loin and beef Wellington (which was maybe the only thing I don't need to order again, but still delicious). All the sides were amazing and finally sticky toffee pudding and butter cake to put us in a complete food coma. Wouldn't change a thing about this meal. We cannot thank you enough Tyler (and Toronto!!)!

Not going to lie, we had trouble finding the entrance, even after looking it up online, but it is through the shop in the corner of that block and through a vending machine door. There was already kind of a line waiting in the shop on the side, so we did not order the #8 to get in. It is dimly lit and has good music playing, but the area inside is on the smaller side. The drinks are on the expensive side but the drinks are higher quality. The staff was also very nice, they provided phone chargers for us when our phones were about to die.

I've been wanting to try LOUIX LOUIS for the longest time, so when the opportunity came up to visit…read moreduring Summerlicious, I knew I had to finally check it out. Located on the 31st floor of the St. Regis Hotel, the restaurant has an incredible atmosphere. The dining room is absolutely stunning with a classy and luxurious feel, but it still feels comfortable and inviting rather than too formal. We started the evening with cocktails before moving into the Summerlicious menu. I ordered the "I Only Drink When I Smoke," which was a great way to start the night. It had a subtle smoky flavour with a touch of sweetness, and the alcohol was not overpowering at all. It was smooth, easy to sip on, and the perfect drink to enjoy while having conversations. For my Summerlicious menu, I started with the Tartare de Boeuf and Caviar. The filet mignon tartare was fresh and really smooth, with a nice balance of rich and savoury flavours. The toasted bread also gave it a nice crunch and paired really well with the tartare. For the main course, I had the Roasted Chateaubriand Filet. When the plate was served, the meat looked really rare as I saw nothing but red on the meat, but it was incredibly tender, making it easy to cut through. It was full of flavour, and the sauce complemented the steak without being too heavy or salty. The vegetables added a nice balance to the dish, and the creamy mashed potatoes were smooth, and definitely one of my favourite parts of the meal. To finish, I had the Mango Passionfruit Cheesecake. It was creamy without feeling too heavy. Though the fruity flavours from the mango passionfruit were a bit tart and sweet for my palate, it still gave an overall refreshing touch. The crust added a nice texture, and it was the perfect ending to the meal. Beyond the food, what really stood out was the service and pacing of the evening. Each course arrived at the right time, allowing us to enjoy every dish without feeling rushed. The price point is definitely on the higher end, so it is not somewhere I would personally visit for a casual dinner on a regular basis. However, for a special occasion, celebration, or a night where you want to enjoy a beautiful dining experience, I think Louix Louis would be a great choice... and for $75/ person for Summerlicious/ Winterlicious, definitely a great value to sample the chefs' artistry. Overall, it was a memorable evening with an elegant atmosphere, thoughtfully prepared dishes, and great service. I can definitely understand why this spot has become such a popular destination, and I would love to come back again for Winterlicious!

Perched high above the bustle of downtown Toronto, LOUIX LOUIS makes a compelling first impression…read more The dining room is genuinely handsome -- a study in polished Art Deco glamour softened by sweeping city views that lend every table a sense of occasion. On a Valentine's Day brunch visit, the atmosphere alone was enough to justify the reservation. The kitchen demonstrates genuine competence: dishes arrive with care, the pacing is unhurried, and the mise en scène -- from tableside presentation to that now-famous thirteen-layer chocolate cake -- reveals an establishment that understands the theatre of fine dining. That towering slice of chocolate cake, in particular, is a masterstroke of marketing and pastry craft in equal measure; it draws the eye, earns its reputation, and very nearly steals the show. Where LOUIX LOUIS gives one pause is in the cuisine's ability to fully match its surroundings. The cooking is accomplished and reliably pleasant, yet seldom rises to the level of genuine distinction one might hope for at this price point. Dishes satisfy without surprising; technique is evident but inspiration, at moments, feels held in reserve. For the corporate traveller or the visitor seeking a polished, geographically convenient showcase of the city's skyline, this represents an entirely sound choice. For those seeking an experience whose flavours linger as long as the view, the kitchen has room yet to grow into its magnificent stage. Service is attentive and well-intentioned, though it can occasionally want for the depth of knowledge that elevates a good meal into a memorable one. LOUIX LOUIS is, in sum, a very good restaurant striving -- not quite yet arriving -- at greatness. The bones are exceptional; one hopes the culinary vision will, in time, catch up with them.
