Vibe? Cute and a lil extra in a fun way. Think white feathers, diamond curtains, a faux rose hostess stand, and a photo opp spot. They love dry ice here . Waitress kicked things off with a dramatic beaker situation that had "smoke" rolling across the table. Lemon drops came bubbling too. Staff was super sweet and made us feel like friends. Totally down for my content-creating shenanigans, which I loved. Went with friends and ordered a bit of everything... Sadly, most of the food was just *barely warm* *Apps* Soul Rolls: 3/5. Fun idea (mac, greens, yams, jerk chicken in an egg roll), but greasy and cold. Fried green tomatoes: 3.5/5. Sauce was solid, rest was fine. *Entrees* Short ribs + rice: 3.5/5. Tender but lukewarm. Rasta pasta: 3/5. Kinda grainy. Chicken was decent. Yams: 5/5. Best bite of the night. Mac & cheese: 2/5. Dry and cold. Collard greens: 4/5. Good flavor. Grits: 3.5/5. Savory and peppery but missing something. *Dessert* Fried pound cake w/ peach cobbler add-on. Took 20 mins to come out cold. Cake wasn't fried, and the "cobbler" was just canned peaches in sauce. 1/5. Disappointed. Live sax player = nice touch. And R&B playlist kept the vibe going. They do have a great happy hour: $7 drink specials and the drinks are strong, so points for that! Overall, I wanted to love this place, but the food just didn't deliver for the price. 2.5 stars, rounded up to 3 for the service, vibe, and drinks.

I loved the ambience, decor, wait staff was great and vibe truly nice. They did great birthday celebrations to a few tables! DJ was always on que. The staff attire was perfect. They almost got it right. The problem here is 100% the food!!! If you gonna serve oxtails and overprice them - they should be falling off the bone! This meat was tough and tasted old. The Cornish Hen was a disaster in inself. The meat was like it had been boiled then a bunch of jerk sauce dumped on top of it. My husband got sweet potato bread and I got the regular cornbread. The only difference is it had a dollop of sweet potatoes on top of it. I asked for Chardonnay and they didn't have any. I was offered some black owned glass of something. I opted for Pinot Grio instead. I was in shock when the bill came - whopping $150!!!! I try to support but this definitely wasn't worth it and I won't come back.

we went to this restaurant on Mother's Day. It was an experience for sure. The atmosphere was welcoming and festive for Mother's Day. When they set you down the dry ice experience the washcloths that were a little tablet that you added water to that was unique and then the appetizers were excellent. We had the fried green tomatoes and the deviled eggs, the main entrées we had lamb. It was excellent and the way that they acknowledge mothers. They had a little show with sparklers so it's a good place to attend the music. The TVs display the old black sitcoms you felt welcomed oh I almost forgot the dessert. OMG, that banana pudding Rio banana pudding was delicious.

Ok let's TALK FOOD! Food was good and flavorful. The portion sizes were great. Plenty of food to share and eat! Tried a few different items to have a feast! Fried Chicken was fried nicely and well seasoned. I loved that it was wings which are my favorite. Lamb Chops were tender and spicy. I did choose the Caribbean style and they did not disappoint. The size of the lamb chops were perfect. The waffles were soft and made with love. Big portion of mashed potatoes were tasty and delightful. They could have been warmer though. Egg rolls with yams, greens, mac and cheese and chicken were good. One was enough for me. The yams are what you really taste. Still a fun appetizer and would recommend. Drinks the flight of blackberry, strawberry and lemon drop martinis tasted good. The presentation on both the food and drinks was really NICE. Ambiance it's so cute and charming! It's whimsical, but cool and sexy. I love the black and white decor. Simple, but chic and fun at the same time. I definitely like the space. Service is good, but not great. For the 18% automatic gratuity I expect a little bit better. However, when I didn't see my waiter other staff did help and assist me. Overall I had a very good experience. I was happy, satisfied and full. I would definitely visit again. It's not cheap and I will say for the portion and food it was kind of worth it. My experience is a thumbs up. I would definitely suggest supporting them and checking it out. The food came out quickly, wait wasn't long and that was a plus. Just be prepared to spend $$$ They are still fairly new, but I can say they impressed me. If the service gets better they can get 5 stars. I wish them the best! Note: I suggest making a reservation as they will turn you away. Especially for weekends.

We made a reservation and arrived a little early. We had to wait a few minutes but not a big deal. The hot honey salmon is SUPER spicy but very good. Our waitress is honestly the best part of the experience. She was great! They had good music playing from the DJ. I would definitely come back!

The GLOWS - The environment is pretty, the music is always good. The staff is always pleasant. Straight vibes. The Rasta pasta (salmon) was amazing. The candied yams are good. The peach cobbler was almost just like granny's. The soul food egg rolls were heavenly! That shack sauce is a necessity now. The "grows" - The oxtails weren't tender or flavorful. The rice wasn't fully cooked. I sent it back twice and came out the same both times. This place has absolutely become my favorite spot.

We went early about 4;30p. Nice place inside considering its location (strip mall. Nice attentive staff. Don Diego was setting up for a set later so I am sure that would have been nice and added to the experience. I am glad I went had heard about it but my personal experience the food was not good. Good Soul Food in Dallas is so limited so I was really excited to try this place. We ordered the Soul Food Eggrolls, Oxtails, Fried Wings, Black eyed peas and cornbread. Eggrolls were interesting. Sides in an eggroll. I wasn't a fan of the actual sides that were included. The greens nor mac made me want to order sides of them to accompany my entry. Yams stood out which helped the taste but also didn't care for them as an actual side. The eggrolls also had "jerk chicken" saw it in the rolls but didn't get a taste from them especially being jerked it should have been more flavorful. Oxtails was a no for us. Tasted as though they were boiled. They were tender but very watery taste. Didn't even eat those after first few bites. The rice was flavorful . Fried WingsI were seasoned okay. Very large size wings and cooled too fast (outside perfectly fried but inside meat could have been cooked longer) didn't eat them but they did. I saw feathers and that ended my entire attempt to continue with them wings. Thoroughly clean wings have no feathers. Cornbread ok Black eyes scorched but seemed if not would have been okay. If invited I would go back for the entertainment and try another appetizer but I personally would pass on dinner options. But I do recommend trying it for yourself.

This is all the bones on one plate !

The ambiance and service were great but when we talk about the food it is lackluster, sloppy and under seasoned. I got the oxtail plate with mac and sweet potatoes. The mac and cheese was VERY BLAND and the oxtails were mostly bones. Not what i expected after paying 40 dollars for one plate....very poor quality!!

There was no wait, we were seated immediately. Everyone was professional, food was amazing, ambience was top tier. We were asked if we wanted our pictures taken by a real photographer and allowed to purchase them always framed if we wanted too. There was a live DJ, every TV was playing a different black tv show/movie. This restaurant is oozing with black excellence and I'm here for it!!!!! Will definitely be back.

Tonight was my first time there and OMG now I just hate I waited so long to try them out. The food was absolutely amazing as well as the service. Our server, Lynaia was so attentive, friendly and very pleasant! The manager, Famous was also great and gave us a history of the place. They also had a DJ tonight that played some great music. Not to mention the place looks very nice and elegant. I will definitely frequent them , especially since it's only about 1.8 miles from my house lol

Must try this place!!! The food was seasoned and flavored perfectly! Service was great and they had a DJ. We sampled a little bit of everything. Huge portions, so you could share with someone. Wish they stayed open past 8 pm to stay longer! Everything was excellent!!

Once you find it, though, you'll be glad you did. This spot combines two of my favorite things: decadent desserts + a legit full bar. Whoever came up with this concept deserves a medal. What I had: Raspberry Almond Cake - 5/5. Moist, flavorful, and not overly sweet. The almond balanced the raspberry perfectly, and the slice was massive. Sharing is optional, but I didn't. ;) Chocolate Chip Cookie - 5/5. Giant, warm, and delicious. It had that perfect chewy-meets-crispy texture, and thankfully wasn't dry (a common downfall for oversized cookies). Old Fashioned - 5/5. Honestly, one of the best I've had anywhere. Perfectly balanced, smooth, and strong. I wasn't expecting cocktail game this good at a dessert spot; pleasantly surprised! They've only been open about three months, and I really hope more people discover them because this concept is so good. A cute, cozy vibe, amazing desserts, and strong cocktails? Yes, please. This place seems more style over substance, for me. It's a beautiful old house, very out of place here in Texas. It reminded me of the houses I grew up in back in New England. It has been wonderfully converted into a restaurant. The server was great, the owner talked to us, checked in. The food, I think, is lacking. Especially for the price. We each had a mixed drink. Mine was, ok. I had the Summer Suitor which is an odd mix of bourbon and sparkling wine. I was a little weird to me - quite sour, not the best mix. For dinner I had their special - a steak frites. Plenty of shoestring fries. But, my steak was raw. I think I asked for it medium or medium rare. This was the first time in my life I had to ask for a steak to be reheated. I think they just left it back under the warming lamps for 5 minutes which helped little. For the prices and the stories we heard about where their meat comes from and the pride they take in their food, I wasn't expecting this. The sides were ok but not great. The truffle mac and cheese - all I can say is what I mainly tasted was the wax-coated paper container those bread crumbs came from. It's so odd. I was excited to truffle mac and cheese but it did not do it for me. Again, for the price, I've had better. The Brussel sprouts were ok but undercooked for my liking. The asian inspired sauce they come in is excellent. My wife had their ahi tuna special and raved about the romesco sauce on top, which we've never seen before on tuna but she liked it a lot. The owner told us about the people that owned the block and moved this building and other houses to this location. All I could think of is that must be why it's so expensive. Rent must be killer! I know this sounds like a negative review. It's just my honest experience. Don't know if we'll go back.
