At the corner of Walnut Creek and Matlock in Mansfield TX you will find an upscale steakhouse that rivals the ones you find in Dallas. The atmosphere everything. High class with a cigar lounge tucked away. The vault display is impressive and the menu is small but everything is flavorful and delicious. Service was incredible. This seems like a good place for a celebration. We came to enjoy a good meal and a good meal and service it was we had. We ordered the lobster/crab cakes (it was okay), we also had crab claws(fantastic), then I had sea bass(cooked perfectly), Mac and cheese (a good creaminess) and my mom had the lobster pasta which very tasty. However, I'm not a fan of poached eggs and forgot to order them scrambled, so I was very happy when they did not come out runny. This restaurant is worth going back to and trying some other dishes. The Bad: My only challenge with my visit is the $16 unmentioned upcharge for Belvedere vodka in my Bloody Mary. When the waiter asked for my choice of vodka and I replied, it didn't occur to me to ask about an ucharge. I cannot recall ever being in a restaurant or bar that didn't mention and ask if the upcharge was "okay" or "acceptable". This cost them a star. It rubs me the wrong way. The Ugly: None! Back in this place one more 'gain! This time it was for a private dinner in their New Orleans room. A nice secluded area with several small tables for semi-private gatherings. We were pleased to be served by Vanessa I think her name was. She was pleasant and interacted with our party very nicely. We came here for a business dinner and it is a perfect location for a large group who we wanted to treat to a nice meal. It's beautiful inside from the entrance to table set up to the bar area. There is also a cigar lounge and a speakeasy. Silly little fun item we all loved is the menu is backlit so you can see it better -never seen that. We shared several apps that were all really good. Once you walk in your eyes are taken to all of the various wines in the white vault. The bar top is lit up but not to bright so you don't have that dark cave feeling at the bar. The menus light up so you can actually read it without trouble. The cocktail and lobster crab cake appetizer was on point. The Seafood Alfredo was absolutely the best I've ever had. My girlfriends and I went to The Vault to celebrate my birthday in March, and it was hands down one of the best birthday dinners I've had in Dallas! The atmosphere is amazing perfect for a date night or a fun girls' night out. The staff was super nice and friendly; the valet guy even got me a birthday shot, which was such a sweet surprise! I ordered the New Orleans-style filet topped with crab and shrimp, plus asparagus and a loaded baked potato on the side everything was delicious. I also had the Sidecar as my drink, which was good and strong definitely order a drink while you're there! I'm already looking forward to going back, even if it's just a solo date for myself. We went the Vault Seafood and steakhouse for Christmas Eve dinner. The ambiance is cozy and slightly upscale, plus the menus light up on the inside, which makes it so much easier to read! I thought that was a very nice touch. We had an excellent waitress, and the tomahawk steak we ordered was carved table side, which was fun to watch! We tried the bison egg rolls, lobster crab cakes and lobster Mac and cheese for apps. The crab cakes were SO good, we ordered them again with our meal! (They also have a great selection for wine and spirits for those who are interested.) The menu has something for everyone, which is great, especially for special occasions! Let's start with the ambiance. Before you walk in, the outside literally looks like you're about to walk into a vault. That was pretty cool. The interior wasn't too loud and you can come here for a date night, a solo date or even a group outing. Our server was really great. She was super nice. Made sure we had everything we needed and checked up on us a decent amount of times. Now here's what you really came here for... The food. Bison egg rolls: 5/10 the meat lacked flavor, and was a little chewy. I did like the puff pastry it was in but the meat and the corn slaw or whatever was inside didn't compliment one another well. The sauce that came with it, though was really good and had a nice spicy kick to it. Crab cakes 8/10: these were really tasty and cooked really well. I really enjoyed the sauce that came on top and wish there were more. The one thing I didn't care for was the arugula base. It seemed a little wasteful and unnecessary, but overall flavor lie these were really good. Snow crab claws: 8/10 they were a tad small but luckily the butter cream sauce in this dish. Snapper Orleans 8.5/10: the fish was cooked perfectly and seasoned really well. The rice pilaf was a little mushy to me but overall it complemented the fish really well. I do wish there were more shrimp because you only get two maybe three or four should come with it, but they were nice sized shrimp. They weren't little so that was good. Bread pudding 9/10: I really enjoy bread pudding, so this was really good to me. The white chocolate really paired well with the bread pudding and I loved that the bread pudding was warm. It did make the ice cream melt a little quick but that's OK. read more

My wife and I went here for the happy hour (5-7pm). This was our first time stepping foot in the restaurant/bar. The ambiance was really cool. It seems like a great place to go have a nice date night dinner. I noticed they also have a cigar lounge. I walked in a was instantly overwhelmed with how much smoke there was. I know, I know... its a CIGAR lounge .. but I feel the ventilation system could be better so you dont feel some overwhelmed. The server at the bar was a little slower than I would have liked. It almost felt intentional so you couldn't buy too many drinks on the happy hour price. She was constantly messing with things behind the bar that kept her away from the patrons sitting at the bar. Now we were fortunate to find parking, it was a packed parking lot, multiple businesses share it and they also have valet. They have seating downstairs and upstairs. We enjoyed the music from the piano and we learned they have some type of music Wednesday through Saturday. We started with appetizers; oysters on the half shell for me and brussel sprouts for my husband. The oysters were sweet and fresh. I enjoyed the glaze on the brussel sprouts as well. They also provide bread and 4 flavored butters; truffle, maple butter, sun dried tomato, and I think the last one was lavender. We both like the truffle butter the most. I got a Manhattan to drink, it was made very well!! For our entrees, I got the Chilean sea bass. It was cooked perfectly and the lemon butter sauce that accompanied it took it up a notch. It came with potatoes and I ate my husband's asparagus, it was flavored and cooked well. My husband got the Tomahawk steak and it was a whole show and my husband said you could cut it with a fork. For dessert we got the "Peach" Foster, which was another show and a great way to end our dinner. The amount of alcohol they put on the peaches, it was like I got another drink. We decided to celebrate my partner's last night in town by dining at a restaurant that came highly recommended. Unfortunately, the experience did not live up to expectations. It took an unusually long time just to be greeted, even though the restaurant was only about 15-25% full. Once someone did approach us, they were very warm and welcoming and seated us at a charming booth, which we really appreciated. Our server took our drink order, but it an extensive time for the drinks to arrive both times (first time the expresso martini and the next time I ordered wine) -- a surprising delay given how quiet the restaurant was. The cocktails were delicious, but the service was noticeably slow and inattentive throughout the evening. My seafood pasta arrived with noodles that were barely warm. After flagging down a staff member (not our original server), the dish was taken back to be reheated. It returned with hot noodles and warm lobster and shrimp, but it was disappointing to have to ask for this in the first place and still not deliver. We also found ourselves babysitting empty water glasses most of the night, constantly looking for someone to help. Staff were either scarce or inattentive. The bathroom was clean, but the lotion container was empty -- a small but telling detail for a place that presents itself as upscale. For a meal that came to nearly $400 (we tipped 60 on a $334 tab) the service and attention to detail were far from impressive. When we arrived, valet greeted me with a smile and were patient with me while I gathered my things. I met my friends at the front door which was a beautiful wood door. We walked into a dark foyer where the host was checking in a guest. When she was done with them, she too greeted me with a smile and let me know I could walk to the bar if I did not have a reservation. The bar was full so the host in the bar area ushered me to the bar in the main dining room which was empty and available. The bartender was amazing! Beautiful young black woman with luxurious hair and nails, her name escapes me but so personable. This was my first time dinning with Vault and the inside and outside of this restaurant are certainly beautiful and asthmatically pleasing. I made a reservation for about an hour after they opened and yet when me and my friend arrived we didn't feel very welcomed at first. The front lobby was empty as we watched a group of young hostesses continued to chat amongst themselves even after they saw us walk in and we were not properly greeted in until I spot up to one of the older hostesses. After checking in we were walked back to our table and despite the over all available of tables were were placed at a tucked away table next to some trays and the kitchen door. This placement was awkward for us as well as for our waiter who struggled to move around my seat and the trays when he would come by our table to speak with us. All the initial distaste aside, our waiter was amazing and the food was delicious. We had let our waiter know that it was our first time visiting the restaurant and he took our interest and gave us amazing recommendations on both food and drinks. Everything was absolutely delicious, there was a live pianist that played beautifully for the guest, (unfortunately, I could not physically watch his performance due to our awkward seating) and all waiting staff that helped us were absolutely amazing. Our waiter truly made this a five star experience for us but first impressions are big for me so if wasn't for the fact that I felt like they were kind of trying to hide us in a corner next to the kitchen and weren't very friendly with us when we first walked in. Went to a birthday celebration; party of 12. As you can expect with a party of this size, we had a few mishaps but nothing earth shattering. Our server was really nice. She was upbeat and provided suggestions, mostly with the intent to upsell, but she was not pushy or overbearing. We were right by the speaker that was pumping in the live singer in the next room. It was a bit loud and sometimes hard to hear the server. Also we were kind of in the corner and she had to maneuver around other tables to get to us. First round of drinks were a little slow, as well as appetizers (again party of 12). But once we got rolling with everything it was a good time. The man and I had 2 drinks each (vodka martinis and old fashions), 2 appetizers (crab claws and lamb lollipops - both delish), bison ribeye and Chilean sea bass (ribeye was a little overcooked for med well, but still tasty. The sea bass had a little too much salt sprinkled on top. Once I dealt with that it was fantastic.), with crème brûlée for dessert (yummy). The other dishes from the group included snapper, regular beef ribeye, seafood pasta and other dishes I didn't catch. Everyone was happy with their food. No one complained at all. That's amazing for a party of 12 which included 2 adolescents and a teenager/young adult. The man and I spent $340- which included the automatic gratuity. I thought that was really good for the selections we chose and portions we received. The only reason we wouldn't go back is because it's over an hour away from us.
