A Happy Hour Hidden Gem in Dallas! We took a day trip to Dallas to see the circus and decided to pop into a nearby bar for drinks and small bites. Parking was a challenge, but we opted for valet and, at only $10, it was totally worth it! We originally planned to check out Bar Eden for happy hour but accidentally walked into Paradiso, which is connected. Bar Eden is a little smaller and has more of an intimate, speakeasy vibe, while Paradiso has a gorgeous, lively atmosphere. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the happy hour specials were perfect for afternoon drinks--cocktails under $10! The margarita was delicious, and the other cocktails were just as pretty as they were tasty. One thing to know: it seems there's only one restroom, so the wait can be lengthy. BUT once you get inside, you'll understand why...because it's basically a girl's dream photo booth! Definitely plan a little extra time for the bathroom selfies. We didn't try the food this time, but the ambiance and music were on point. The outdoor seating is beautiful and elegant, although it was way too hot for daytime lounging during our visit. I was very disappointed with Bar Eden's happy hour. The advertised $7 cocktails (such as margaritas and mojitos) sound like a fantastic 50% discount, but in my experience they were served in what felt like half-sized portions. Instead of feeling like a bargain, it felt as though you had to order two drinks to get the amount you would normally expect from one regular cocktail. The cocktails themselves were average at best and nowhere near the quality I expected from a cocktail bar. The same applied to the $5 happy hour burger - it was extremely small, closer to a kids' burger than a regular burger. To make matters worse, the happy hour isn't available on weekends, when many visitors are actually in the area. The staff remained polite throughout, but I felt my concerns were dismissed with the kind of courteous, scripted responses that leave you feeling brushed off rather than genuinely heard. It is pretty spacious for the size boasting a large bar area. they have a pretty good happy hour from 3-6 daily. i had a margarita that was a good balance of sour and sweet. they have an outdoor area and large inside area with a private room you can utilize as well. the service was great, we were 2 of 5 people in the bar at the time, but waited for nothing and got any questions answered quickly. read more

Every time I have been here, they seem annoyed to have patrons despite not being busy. The easiest thing to do as a bartender; even when slammed is welcome a patron and make them feel welcome. Bar Eden on my multiple experiences literally hates you for walking in the door. Bad Bunny Bartender literally wishes you weren't born. I gave a server my feedback on our cold experience with him, and she went to him , told him and he just glared at us. A professional bartender comes to you or the manager and says " we apologize based on xyz" not side eye from the bartender . What the actual. Bartending isn't just making drinks- it's welcoming guests and service. I don't care how busy you are or not- or if you are short handed or hate your job. Say hello. Service 101. ANY member of your bar or staff can say " welcome in! We will be with you as soon as we can!". But the actually feeling of being a nuisance when this place is barely busy means they aren't staffed or trained correctly. Hard pass. read more

This place is so cool! It looks like a jungle safari inside but upscale. I got a banana drink which was very sweet! It was nice to sit and chat, but the inside is ssssooooo loud! It's not the bars fault, the people who came in were yelling in the room, just know it can get really loud inside. Drink menu is minimal but includes all liquor and each drink has their twist to it! Try every drink!! Ambience is really nice outdoors and inside. Love it when bars have finger food. Great drinks and vibes! This is a perfect bar to stop in at on a weekend after brunch or for a night cap. The margaritas are good. PSA -They also have an espresso martini that is infused vodka on the rocks and not your typical espresso martini. I was a bit surprised by this. It wasnt horrible but not my thing either. There's limited seating and the back room is pretty hot with 0 airflow so this bar is better for small groups. read more

It's a decent size but can fill up fast so if you have a large group, you may have to wait on a table. This place is cute, romantic, and cozy. I went here for a live jazz event and really enjoyed the atmosphere. The only downside is that that the private cozy booth prevent you from seeing others in the restaurant ( great for privacy but bad if you want to see someone performing). You can order food from Paradiso to this bar which is a really great thing as their menu consists of mostly drinks. I enjoyed my time here and the drinks and food were tasty. The other pro and con is that the place is very small. It filled up quickly when I was there and several people left because there was no seating. read more

Gorgeous interior design, lots of beautiful tile but it's only looks. Went on a night they had disco set up and lots of disco balls every where. But even at midnight there wasn't any crowd yet they were turning people away for some reason. Heads up you want a crowd to encourage dancing/fun. Also the drinks were incredibly expensive, we just got one round of tequila shots and they automatically charged us at least a 20% tip. Pretty on the outside but the atmosphere just wasn't there. read more

My friends and I came here the other night as we were meeting another friend who is from the Dallas area. We got there around 6pm, and we were able to choose where we wanted to sit. The space was dimly lit, with couches and more traditional tables. They had a great cocktail menu and we got several drinks amongst us: the gunslinger, a Negroni and remembering places and each was very good. There was a live band that started playing music while we were there and it just made the ambiance all that more wonderful. I would definitely recommend coming here if you're in the area and looking for a great place for a drink. read more

Meh. I enjoyed walking around at Bishop arts, cute lil neighborhood. We came here for a drink, or two, or... ;))) It was gorgeous out so we sat outside. We walked through the restaurant, said hy and made our way outside. That has been said, we should have been approached fast, but unfortunately that's not what happened, actually our server said that we can't expect service if we didn't let them know we are outside. ... Good start. We ordered drinks, they were forgettable, nothing special. Well, the space made up for it. I just love my hometown of Oak Cliff and with the rise of Bishop Arts District once again, I totally miss living there. Anywho, the wife and I went to a second spot this past Friday and found Botanist. I just had a shot of gin and the wife had a Wildberry Smash she also ordered fried artichokes which were really good. They have a cool patio that looks to be shared with surrounding establishments and that evening they had a live band out there which was cool. The service is good, but there drinks were a bit pricey. I am not sure they even do happy hour or not, but these drinks were full price, so be prepared. read more

Cute place, it's a bar so service was scarce; no big deal, but one thing I noticed is that the prices we were charged for each drink were $1 more than what is listed on the menu (menu says $12, payment machine said $13). No big deal, but in the grand scheme, it's a lot of $$ they're potentially pocketing with the number of people they get coming through that place. And as quickly as they tap through the screen on the payment machine you can't even request a receipt to have for reference. After further review the tips don't match either I paid 15% on a $13 check and was charged nearly $17. Actually glad we were just stopping there briefly between stops. Yikes read more

Guys and Gals, The botanist has grown up to be an amazing place to past some time with friends, family or a date. My favorite drink from the menu is one that plays bit of a trick with your mind, The expresso martini! The obvious attraction of the bar is the picture-perfect interior setting that is the backdrop of Every instagrammable cocktail on the menu! When we were there the bar staff was a little behind based on the large crowd enjoying the gorgeous open-door weather. While perfectly understandable based on the crowd the staff was above-and-beyond at checking in with us and even gave us complimentary champagne to hold over for our cocktails. I was really disappointed with this place. I called ahead to ask about parking. The person who answered said there was lots of parking. That was a lie. When I arrived, I found that the tiny lot was entirely full. The street parking was also mostly full. I found a spot and walked. After walking in, I was asked to sit down by two separate people within seconds of each other. Service is very aggressive. As a party of four, each of us ordered a different drink. Each drink was very one-note. They all tasted basically the same, sweet on sweet. To top it off, after we had been sitting for a while a DJ sets up and starts playing music too loud for us to hear each other. So, we paid the tab and left. As a more minor note, nothing about the place made sense. Charcuterie isn't supposed to be served in a bowl. The decor isn't coherent and doesn't fit the music. The seating is awkward. The food doesn't fit the drinks. It's supposed to be a cocktail bar, but the cocktails just aren't very good. The whole restaurant seems to be a product of a lack of experience and expertise. The Botanist has only been open since August 2019. Given how competitive the cocktail scene is in Dallas, I would be surprised if they make it a year. read more

We stopped by here around 10 pm on a Sunday evening and easily got a table for our party of five on their GORGEOUS patio. Those huge trees strung with lights...magical. Two of us ordered pretty standard drinks (a "last word" and an old fashioned) and enjoyed them. A third drink was "The Mitchell," with mezcal, cynar, and lemon. I wasn't drinking at this point in the evening (yep, we had started pretty early) so can't really speak to the drinks, none of which are drinks I would have ordered anyway. Sorry this is super not helpful in that regard. Two of us ended up sitting inside for a while, and the waitress was very kind about offering us drinks, and she came by to check on us once and refilled our waters. When we rejoined our group outside, they said they'd been wanting to order another round but hadn't seen the waitress in over an hour. It definitely was NOT a busy night (the patio had mostly emptied by midnight), so I'm hoping this was a soft-open kink that they'll work out by hiring more employees. The space is gorgeous and is probably the #1 reason I'd come back (hoping the drinks are solid). The patio is just dreamy, and the interior is lush and rich and beautiful. It's not a large space, so I'd imagine it might not be too much fun on a crowded weekend...time will tell. read more

The only upside to this bar is the design. The bartender took ten minutes to make a drink when there are only 6 on the entire menu and there were maybe 20 people total in the building. After taking the order for 3 drinks he walked away to chat up someone else and had to come back and ask for the order again. After giving him the card to close out, he put it in his pocket and proceeded to start making drink for a new group instead of giving us the bill. Hands down my favorite spot in Dallas. Everything about our experience is 5 stars. The bartenders, Jared and Freddy, were friendly and gave wonderful service and had great drink recommendations. The drinks are artistically crafted and the thought that is put into the presentation is something not many bars take the time to do. The cocktail waitress is super personable and sweet, and even helped us take photos! The interior is beautifully designed and has a cozy, welcoming feel to it.
