Staff completely unaware you exist. I tried to tell me that I was looking for tall sizes. All they would say was yes we have them. But I could not find them anywhere. Not bad, to echo some of the sentiment posted here already, they have a bunch of stuff sort of on display and not for sale. Real military gear is limited, confused by a bunch of collection pieces that are not for sale. Used military working uniforms, reproduction Navy Peacoats, boots not sure if real Mil-Spec. Lots of reproduction medals and rank stuff... not the regulation stuff you'd buy in a Navy Exchange or PX. Lots of new crap like timberland boots, dickies clothing. Not impressive, but I was able to find a 1980s Alice M-16 magazine holder. Worth a look, but mostly I always leave thinking it was a waste of time. Don't be fooled by the display window. read more

One of my longstanding favorites along the main drag in Hyannis. Family owned and operated, the place is chill and you can usually find a shop dog holding down the fort! Not just any shop dogs, they were BORN for this! The shop offers totally different stuff than most others in the area and has THE BEST Hydroflask selections in town. I love Mass Bay Company! There are few places in this world that combine the interesting products sold at this store. It has a great Army Surplus section as well as a wing selling Carhartt clothing. There's a great boot and shoe section as well as a section that sells Woolrich. You can also buy a variety of hats including Mad Bomber, Tilley Hats, and a wide variety of baseball caps. If you're looking for a Pea Coat, a great pair of binoculars, a hunting knife or quality foul weather gear, this is your place. It is eccentric for sure, but you'll always enjoy your time wandering the aisles at the Mass Bay Company. read more

Suck it Mass Bay...you have tormented me for too long. The last straw should have been many moons ago, however, my tolerant persona has allowed you more visits than you could ever deserve. Let us start off with the retardedly high prices. Yes, you may carry decent brands such as Free People and Citizen but ripping off your local Cape Codders seems down right slimey. FYI, there's this thing called the internet where people can go online and find the same stuff you sell and get it for the price it SHOULD be sold for. Now let's move on to the real kicker...the staff. Ohhh the staff, the lovely staff. I think the hiring process goes like this..."So what skills do you have?", answer: "Well I'm a huge bitch, I like to ignore customers while I snort with my associates, I know how to contort my face into an impressively mean scowl, I have the tendency to make fun of people in the store when I think they can't hear me, and I enjoy sitting on my fat ass when a customer needs help"...."You're hired". You girls need an overnight stay in manner school (taken straight out of my grandmommas mouth)!! Great store with great selection of military stuff from uniforms to stickers. Wonderful quality clothes and shoes. Huge store with a lot of staff. Great knives and a perfect army/ navy store. Prices are not bad for the used uniforms and stuff. New clothes are a bit pricy, but things cost money. Great atmosphere with an old Jeep in the store. There is stuff for everyone in the store. I stop in every time I am on main street in Hyannis. read more

Seeing prior reviews it is no surprise to me that my girlfriend had a similar experience here and was treated very insensitively by a store clerk during check out. As someone who has done retail myself, I think the staff could use a refresher on the "the customer is always right" talk, or at the LEAST learn not to be disrespectful. Unless you are interested in being degraded, I would reconsider shopping here. read more

More like a 2.5 rating. I have stopped in a few times over the last 5 years or so when I'm on the Cape (off season) after checking out Spinnaker's across the street-awesome record store btw. I find the layout strange, it is really 2 stores in one. The right side is army/navy/tourist tchotchkies, prices are ok. The left side is an expensive women's clothing and shoe boutique focusing on high end junior items. Expect to pay retail, discounts are ok on shoes (they were selling some Tom's for $19.99). The staff seemed apathetic, we were greeted on the Army Navy side only. One thing that I found unsettling was the hand written signs throughout the store warning customers against touching things, and alerting them to the security cameras. Ex; "Smile, you're on camera" scrawled on a card next to some Frye boots on "sale" for about $225. I probably won't stop in next time...maybe just to look at the jewelry. read more

I don't know how this place stays in business. It doesn't list their hours or operation anywhere, and they don't answer their phone. Ent by there at 6:30 pm on a Monday night, and the lights were on, but doors locked. Would be nice to know when someone can go there. Terrible. read more

LOVE LOVE LOVE this store! They have a wonderful collection of designer clothing (juicy couture, 7 jeans, true religion, lacoste) and surf clothing (roxy, hurley, billabong and volcom). Most of the clothes are a really great deal and the selection is fabulous. You may not expect to find such great clothing in an army navy store, but you would be surprised!!!!!!!!! read more

Used to be a good store when the owner was alive. Had deals on work boots and clothes. Owners wife turned it into a boutique with high prices and substandard sales help. I go to Bob's for all my work gear now. read more

Shockingly poor customer service. I was ignored by the 2 staff members on the shoes/clothing side...I was the ONLY customer on that side. Apparently, I inconvenienced them by wanting to try on some boots. I should have known, as this has happened every time I've been in that store. I'm not sure how this shop has remained in business for so long considering the truly AWFUL and rude customer service. Some peaple ask for to much in today's world out of everything but mass bay is ok. I have been going there for a long time and yes I have noticed the change from the 80's but if you look crabby you get crabby thats how it goes. I know when I worked there I gave it my all and had a great time helping peaple. A*** A******* was a great manager and made the place enjoyable not shure who is in charge now . Poor customer service, and if I was speaking with the manager, poor management. I purchased a decal shirt without trying it on and after I removed the tags and put it on, it was very apparent that the decal was off centered. I wore it briefly and tried readjusting the shirt to center the decal thinking maybe it was just how it was positioned, but it kept shifting back. Honestly it looked ridiculous on. I took the shirt in to exchange for store credit and the manager refused to take the shirt back. Now I realize that I should have tried the shirt on before I removed the tags, and yes I do understand them not wanting to take back a shirt that has already been worn, but in my opinion, when it comes to customer service, the customer is ALWAYS right. For example, I was about to do more shopping at this store and when I have shopped at Mass Bay in the past I usually spend around $100. After this experience not only was I not in the mood to spend money at their establishment, but it is likely that I will not go back there. They have risked losing a customer for life. If things would have gone differently I would have continued to shop there during that visit, spent my money and would have definitely returned. As a customer I would have felt taken care of and I would have felt like my experience and satisfaction were important to them. I would have been grateful. But instead I left feeling like it was more important for them not to loose money on this one sale, which was only $23.99, than to take care of me and keep me as a valued customer. read more
