Came here on a rainy Saturday for a 9:30am class! Our instructor Lindy was super friendly and led an amazing class! The class was extremely high energy with every seat filled! I usually go to Cyclebar, so this was my first time at Soulcycle. The staff members were super friendly (except for one who seemed a bit annoyed when I was trying to figure out which cycling shoes fit me best). This location is definitely small - I only saw 2-3 showers in total, so there may be a short wait if you're showering there! Nevertheless, I will definitely be back again soon!

I walked into Soul Cycle today on Union Street and this is how we are greeted?

Obsessed! This was my first time at Soul Cycle. If you call and book directly your first class is $20. The girl on the phone who took my reservation was amazing! Chelsi took my reservation and set me up when I came in. She was super thorough and helpful. When I walked into the studio I was a little apprehensive because the bikes are literally packed in. I started having a bit of anxiety as I set up my bike. Usually in cycling classes I pull my bike away from the pack cuz I like to have my own personal space. Our instructor Bea came in and I was already impressed by her friendliness and energy. When the lights went out and the class got started she was lit by candlelight. Her legs were moving so fast it looked like there was a strobe light in front of her! This wasn't my first rodeo, I've taken many spin classes before... This is what sets SoulCycle apart: 1. Preparation- the playlist wasn't something that Bea just put together the hour before. The music was thoughtful (almost choreographed but not). It wasn't the top 5 pop hits either. Her music was FIRE. 2. Movement- the movement on the bikes was dynamic (push-ups, sit-backs) I was sweating bullets and my heart rate was crazy! 3. Weight training- the weights on the back of our bikes were used to target our upper body. Such a well rounded experience. 4. Stretch- in my experience, stretch is an afterthought in a typical cycling class but here it is intentional. 5. Motivation- the affirmations that Bea was giving us was amazing! I felt like she was a life coach. I can't wait to go back to SoulCycle on my next trip to the Bay Area!!

This place is iiiiiincredible. The facility is super clean, the equipment is in perfect condition, and the classes themselves will, guaranteed, be the best spin class you've ever taken! It's a full body workout, even my arms are sore after the class. Sunday mornings with Paula is the best way to start the week!! Yes the price point is steep, but after one class you'll realize it's worth it.

Let me share a story. I used to live in Los Angeles, where I met the person who would be my coach…read morefor a long time. While living in LA, I was just getting started in triathlon. I eventually relocated to San Diego and took my triathlon game to the next level. After moving to SD, my old coach always used to send emails to the team that Pedro was coming down to LA (maybe every 6 months or so) and that if a fit was needed, the team should book early. Since I was quite a ways away, I thought, "Forget it. I'm not driving to LA for a bike fit." Fast forward another 10-plus years, and I relocated again, this time to the Bay Area. At the time, I decided it was time to dust off my road bike and get back into shape. I started asking around about where to get a fit. A few local shops were recommended but they were charging what I thought were egregious amounts for a fit. After a quick google search, I saw that Pedro was now "in my backyard" and promptly booked a session. I went with my road bike and had an awesome session. My bike felt like an extension of me again! The session itself was great. We got to know one another. We laughed. We became fast friends! A few months later, it was time to get my tri bike fit. It was more of the same. Brilliant. The bottom line is that after working with him for several years now, with additional fits and adjustments, he is my forever go-to fitter. And now that he has started to set up shop in LA again, whenever I need a fit, you best be sure that I'll be making that drive!

My first bike was bought second hand and I found out it was too small for me when I was getting fitted :') but Pedro helped position the bike as best as he could to make my ride as comfortable as possible. He also recommended me bikes for my height/ body length that would fit me best and if I wanted to ride longer distances I should probably consider it. I ended up buying a new bike in 2023 haha. After riding the bike, I made a hell of a difference! I wish I had been educated sooner about bike sizing and fitting. Such a game changer now!

There is a steam room and a massage / spa attached. Lots of good things. The reason i rate this three stars is the multiple rude female trainers who will hog equipment for their clients (eg both sides of the cable machine when they can switch out attachments on the SAME cable between sets), not let you switch in, and can often be heard talking snark about random other people. Not to mention the ones hustling for new biz who will offer unsolicited "advice" which is either plain wrong or simply annoying. Staff are a big component to how a space feels. There used to be an amazing trainer couple - both of whom brought warm, helpful energy. They are gone and there is a lot of trainer turnover constantly. There are at least three female trainers who are unpleasant should you need to use a station in proximity. None of them even look fit or healthy which is the ultimate testament to whether you should take strength or fitness advice from someone.

I'm always looking for fun spin classes in SF! I've been to Wheelhouse, Lavation, Core40, Bodyrok,…read moreand Crunch with varied results. Some classes had a strange ambiance and others weren't challenging or varied enough to keep me coming back. The instructor for project pedal had a great, positive attitude and the music was on point. I think this class is really accessible for people new to spin since it wasn't intimidating at all--only a handful of people were in the class when I went. The bikes are in an open area which makes it hard for me to get in the zone. I like places with dark rooms and changing lights. Project pedal is in the middle of body mechanix and it was easy to get distracted by others in the gym or people walking by outside. The studio itself is more like a community gym so not much in the the way of amenities. If you're used to spa products in the bathroom, filtered and chilled water, and complimentary hair ties and cool towels at the end of your workout, you're not going to get that here. They do have towels for the bikes though. I got a good sweat with the ride but it's because I pushed myself. There wasn't a lot of variation beyond tap backs and sprints. The instructor didn't always join us in the sprints and/or the intensity of the workout. The arm portion with light weights was great but there were lots of breaks. Overall, the class was just OK. The location isn't super convenient for me so I probably won't go out of my way to return since I need something a bit more challenging. If you're brand new to spin, you should check it out! Otherwise, I would say better to stick with some of the other established spin studios in the city.

I think I was very bummed with this location for a couple of reasons: 1. You have no idea where you are in terms of half way through the class or anywhere near that. At the Alamo location, they have a projector up on a wall telling you the flow of the class maneuver by maneuver. 2. PARKING SUCKS!!!!!! You literally have to pay for parking here and although that may be normal for Oakland natives, it's not coming from more inland East Bay. I actually didn't come with a card or cash so I had no way to pay which led me to going into a liquor store and getting some coins. The machine then ate my coins! Luckily, I asked someone if I could Venmo them the $1.50 but she was so kind and ended up just paying for me. Although she was a lifesaver, I do feel like that should be posted somewhere in the app to let people know. 3. The front desk person was not at all helpful and I felt like I was bothering her when I asked her what I could do about the parking situation.
