They advertised a free entree for Labor Day so I thought they would be packed, but the lot was empty, except for two adorable young girls playing in front. I went inside and found it to be sparsely decorated with fewer tables than I expected and almost no artwork. I even thought about asking if I could help in that area. Maybe some simple posters of kitchen items or the girls running would warm up the place a little. They have only been open a short time so I expect they have some plans yet to be realized. I was pleased to learn that one of the young ladies, Alia (sp?) would be my server (with Mom's help). She did a terrific job and it was great watching her learning her craft. I ordered a basic breakfast and it was all well prepared except for the eggs. Did you ever get the feeling that certain cooks have a problem making eggs in ways they don't like to eat? For example, someone making scrambled eggs who prefers them over easy may have a problem and vice versa. I got the feeling that's what happened today. My over easy eggs where anything but. I wanted to go back in the kitchen and give them a quick lesson. Cook them until the whites are done, roll them over wait 15 seconds and you're good to go. I didn't get my free entrée, and my eggs were pretty much untouched, but still, I liked the people, the place and all of the rest of the food was delicious so I think these girls deserve a chance. Given a little time, this could be a very nice addition to the neighborhood. And I hope that once Aaliyah finds out she can do this, she realizes she could do anything.

That's an entree I share with the boyfriend because otherwise I'd just go crazy. The cornbread stuffing is one of the best things I've ever had in my life. I love that stuffed chicken so much too. The boyfriend loves your fish stew and shrimp po' boy. I can't wait to get home to Pittsburgh to taste you again. Signed, Your biggest fan

That it was takeout only presented a dilemma for me, as I was just visiting the North Side for the day by bus and foot, and had no place to take my order. Of the two people behind the counter, one could not have cared less about my dilemma, but the other was of some help with this and my order. I wound up walking two blocks downhill to a park with benches. Second, that all orders are cooked to order and take 25 minutes. Fortunately there is a branch of the Pittsburgh Public Library across the street and it was open, so that occupied my time. The food: the chicken and catfish are fried in light crispy breading, very fine. The chicken wingettes were delicious. The catfish was not easily flaked and was ever so slightly rubbery, which would have been a very bad sign if it had been any more so. But it wasn't too bad. Green beans are a good side dish at this sort of joint, and these were good, seasoned with meat and sautéed onions mixed in. The white rice was entirely plain but tasty.
